The guards' cries echoed sharply in the stillness of the night.
A few other guards rushed over, only to find the unfortunate one slumped on the ground, trembling all over, pointing ahead and incoherently shouting about ghosts.
"What a useless fool!" one of the guards cursed, drawing his sword and cautiously stepping forward. "Third Brother, what did you see? Are you going to embarrass us?"
As soon as he finished speaking, the scene before him began to twist and distort. A ghostly figure in white, with a pale face and blood streaming from her seven orifices, suddenly appeared before him.
"Oh my God!" the guard exclaimed, retreating rapidly until he fell onto the ground.
"Useless!" another guard shouted angrily, drawing his long sword and chanting, "Heaven and Earth, Yellow and Black, Sun and Moon, Stars and Planets, I command you—break!"
A beam of golden light shot from the tip of his sword directly at the ghost. However, it seemed as if the ghost had no physical form; the golden light passed right through her without causing any harm.
The guard was left dumbfounded. This ghost was incredibly sinister; ordinary spells couldn't even touch her!
The other guards quickly summoned their magical artifacts. In an instant, Cold Blossom Hall was filled with flickering lights as various techniques were unleashed, creating a chaotic scene.
Yet no matter how they attacked, the ghost remained unscathed, growing more arrogant as she darted back and forth among them, emitting chilling and eerie laughter.
"Hehehehe."
"No! These Yin Ghosts are too wicked; we need to retreat!" One guard sensed danger and turned to flee.
Seeing this, the others disregarded their pride and hurriedly followed suit.
"Don't run!" The ghost's voice echoed ominously behind them, growing fainter until it vanished into the night.
Inside Cold Blossom Hall, Chen Li and Shen Qingyue peered through a crack in the window, watching the guards flee in disarray. They couldn't help but burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! Brother, your trick of luring trouble is just brilliant!" Shen Qingyue clapped her hands excitedly.
Chen Li raised an eyebrow proudly and pretended to be mature as he stroked his chin. "Just a small feat."
Thanks to the system's reward earlier, he had mastered the Taiyin Soul Summoning Technique. Now that he had unleashed it, it perfectly attracted Yin Ghosts to deal with those pesky guards.
Watching their panicked retreating figures, Chen Li let out a sigh of relief.
After tonight's events, it could be considered a temporary resolution to their subsequent troubles. At least for the time being, Duan Tianxiao wouldn't send anyone to keep an eye on the siblings, giving them a chance to pursue their own matters.
Shen Qingyue looked at Chen Li and immediately dismissed his thoughts. With the commotion tonight, they could go to the Imperial Academy to exchange for elixirs and sell them outside. Shen Qingyue pointed excitedly at a pavilion not far away.
Chen Li looked up and saw that above the entrance of that pavilion hung a dazzling golden plaque inscribed with three bold characters: Treasury.
"Let's go take a look!"
Chen Li pulled Shen Qingyue along, quickly making their way toward the pavilion.
As they approached, two guards clad in golden armor blocked their path.
"Stop! This is the Treasury. No unauthorized personnel allowed!"
Chen Li smiled faintly, unfazed by the interruption. He reached into his pocket and pulled out two identity tokens, handing them over.
"Brothers, we're here to collect our cultivation resources."
The two guards took the tokens and examined them carefully. After confirming their authenticity, they returned the tokens to Chen Li, their tone becoming much more polite.
"Oh, it's you newcomers. You can go in, but remember, each person can collect one Spirit Grade Low-Quality Revitalizing Pill and one Spirit Grade Upper Quality Breaking Heaven Pill for free each month. Don't take more than that."

He gently tapped her on the head with his finger before turning his gaze toward the shelf she indicated.
