Shen Wanzhou suddenly stood up, her gaze sharp, resembling an enraged Manticore.
In a deep voice, she commanded, "From today on, I will enter seclusion to cultivate. I need to refine enough elixirs and earn sufficient Silver Coins!"
In the days that followed, Shen Wanzhou seemed to transform into an unyielding machine, tirelessly refining elixirs and practicing her techniques day and night. With her exceptional talent and a fierce determination in her heart, her cultivation progressed at an astonishing rate.
Shen Zhentian was equally diligent. He understood that only by becoming stronger could he better protect his wife and children, and reunite with them as soon as possible.
In the quiet of the night, Shen Wanzhou would gaze out at the moon, softly murmuring, "Li, Yue'er, don’t worry. Mother will bring you back safely!" Her voice was gentle yet filled with unwavering resolve, as if she were making a vow—one that she would fulfill no matter what.
Time passed swiftly. Here, Shen Wanzhou had nearly shut herself off completely; aside from alchemy and cultivation, she engaged in little else. Her beauty seemed even more ethereal, yet it radiated an icy coldness that kept others at bay. Only in the dead of night would she shed all pretense, revealing a glimpse of the softness and longing deep within her heart.
"Li, Yue'er, how are you?" she whispered, a single crystalline tear sliding down her cheek.
Meanwhile, Chen Li and Shen Qingyue had both grown taller after exiting their cultivation state. Though they were only a few years old, their heights rivaled those of ten-year-olds. Their eyes met, each seeing a reflection of shared emotions within the other.
"Do you miss Mother too?" they spoke almost in unison before falling into silence once more. Even without words, their feelings were unmistakable.
Deep within Chen Li's dark pupils, a glimmer of golden light flashed momentarily before vanishing.
He exhaled a breath of turbid air, which, instead of dissipating, coalesced into a visible white mist that lingered in the air.
"You've actually reached the peak of the Innate Realm?"
The girl's soft voice was filled with surprise, and for a moment, both seemed to forget their earlier pretenses.
Chen Li saw Shen Qingyue blinking her large, watery eyes at him and nodded slightly.
"Well, what about you? What realm have you reached?" Chen Li ruffled Shen Qingyue's hair, feeling the surging power within him, a smile curling at the corners of his mouth.
"I should be at the eighth level of Innate! But I feel like I could punch a hole in the sky!" Shen Qingyue said, shaking her small fist excitedly.
During this time, they had been diligently cultivating and were no longer the naive little kids they once were.
Chen Li's demeanor had grown more composed, yet his dark eyes still sparkled with an intensity that belied his age.
Shen Qingyue had also blossomed into an even more exquisite beauty, her features delicately sculpted like fine jade; only the occasional mischievous glint in her eyes added a playful charm to her appearance.
Both of them had now reached the Innate Realm!
Such terrifying speed in cultivation would surely leave many in shock if it were to spread.
After all, even those so-called geniuses might spend their entire lives without touching the threshold of the Innate Realm.
But unfortunately, the potential of this body had reached its limit. Chen Li felt the abundant power within him but found little joy in it.
The technique he practiced was immensely powerful; although it could elevate his cultivation in a short time, it was like an inflated balloon—seemingly strong but fundamentally fragile.
"What's wrong with you?" Shen Qingyue keenly sensed Chen Li's change in mood and asked with concern.
"Nothing much, just thinking about when I can see my mother again," Chen Li replied with a smile, shaking his head to suppress the slight irritation in his heart.
He stood up and walked over to the stone table, stuffing all the jars and bottles piled high on it into his arms.
These were all the elixirs he had concocted during his time here—some for healing, some for restoring Vital Energy, and others for enhancing cultivation; a wide variety indeed.
"Let's go; it's time to return home and see Mother," Chen Li said as he patted his bulging clothes and turned to Shen Qingyue.
Her eyes glistened slightly as she nodded vigorously.
The two stepped out of the Spiritual Vein, passing through the ancient well and entering the courtyard.
Looking at the familiar scenery before him, Chen Li immediately recognized where the barriers surrounding the courtyard were located.
Having cultivated in this confined space for so long, he felt a twinge of reluctance as they were finally about to leave.
"Chen Li, there's a barrier sealing us in. How are we going to get home?" Shen Qingyue tilted her small face up, blinking her big, watery eyes as she looked at Chen Li.
Chen Li smiled slightly and reached out to ruffle Shen Qingyue's hair. He pulled out a stack of yellow talisman papers from his pocket and handed them to her. "Here, I drew these whenever I had some free time. Take a look."
Shen Qingyue curiously accepted the talisman papers and looked down, her eyes widening in surprise. The papers were filled with intricate lines and patterns that resembled some kind of formation or design, appearing very complex and dazzling.
"What is this, Chen Li? When did you learn to draw?" Shen Qingyue asked, her face full of confusion as she raised her head.
"Hehe, this isn't just any drawing; it's a Talisman! Each Talisman hides a formation within it," Chen Li said with a mysterious smile, a glint of mischief in his eyes.
"A Talisman? Hiding a formation?" Shen Qingyue was even more shocked.
But instead of directly answering her question, Chen Li countered, "Yue'er, do you think they would be willing to fight us to the death?"
Shen Qingyue paused at his words, then quickly realized what he meant. "You want to scare them off with the Talisman?"
Chen Li nodded leisurely. "Not only that, don't forget about the Spiritual Vein; we need to take that with us too!"
Seeing this, Shen Qingyue's eyes sparkled as a sly smile crept onto her lips. She lowered her voice and said, "Chen Li, are you thinking—"
"Shh!" Chen Li quickly made a gesture for silence, glancing around cautiously. He whispered, "Be careful; walls have ears. This isn't the place to talk."
Shen Qingyue stuck out her tongue and gave a playful smile.
Chen Li continued, "Since they've kept us here for so long, shouldn't we demand some interest when we go back?"
