At eight in the morning, it was the peak hour of the day.
On the streets of Haitong City, behind a traffic light intersection, a dense line of vehicles waited like a swarm of ants. As the signal turned green, these cars surged forward like a flood released from a dam.
Inside one of the cars, Lu Xiaoran looked around in confusion.

Lu Xiaoran turned his head to gaze out the window. A few pedestrians hurriedly walked along the sidewalk, while some vendors were setting up stalls to sell breakfast.

Once exposed to this toxic gas, human skin, respiration, and digestion would suffer severe damage.
What was even more despairing was that this alien bacteria had an incredibly strong reproductive ability. Within less than a week, it had spread across all continents of Blue Star, and soon the entire planet was engulfed in a shallow yellow Toxic Gas Sea.
In such a short time, the authorities had no chance to respond to the crisis.
Over a hundred thousand residents in Haitong City were trapped in their neighborhoods. Lu Xiaoran was one of them, having been stuck in his rented apartment for over a month.
Just when he felt utterly hopeless as all his food supplies had been consumed, on the night of this date, strange lights suddenly appeared in the sky.

Other residents in the community learned of Lu Xiaoran's power and began to threaten him, demanding that he share his food and water with them, or they would come knocking at his door. He understood all too well the truth behind the saying: "A man is innocent, but possessing wealth brings trouble." In this world of extreme scarcity, having such an extraordinary ability was akin to stumbling upon an endless mountain of gold—inevitably drawing the attention of others.
Fearing that these neighbors might break down his door, Lu Xiaoran reluctantly complied with their demands. He thought that by doing so, he could appease them. However, unbeknownst to him, news of his ability had somehow leaked online, attracting the attention of a far more dangerous organization.
That night, two individuals clad in hazmat suits infiltrated Lu Xiaoran's home. After subduing him, they injected him with a sedative, causing him to immediately lose consciousness.
