Yelai immediately dashed out of the open mountainous area, continuing to run and create distance.
After several attempts, the opponent, experienced and professional, effortlessly dismantled Yelai's strategies one by one.
On the other side, Shadow Person squinted his eyes. Although Yelai's tactics had been resolved, he did not let his guard down; instead, he regarded Yelai with increased respect. According to the intelligence provided by the Li Family, Yelai had been a Sequencer for no more than three years. The fact that such a young Sequencer could devise so many countermeasures in such a short time was impressive. If given more time to grow, he would undoubtedly become a significant threat.
Shadow Person muttered to himself. No wonder the Li Family was willing to spend a fortune to eliminate him.
Realizing Yelai's tenacity and potential, Shadow Person finally chose to speak up. "Stop running; you're not my match. Don't even think about entering the mirrored world; I have plenty of ways to prevent you from getting close to any reflective surfaces. And don't think about dealing with me—you've already seen it; my Sequence is the nightmare of Sequencers in this darkness. You won't survive tonight, especially since you've taken Black Fairy Tale."
"Instead, why don't you hand over that Eyeball? I can promise to leave your corpse intact. Oh, no—I can allow you to make a phone call to your girlfriend before you die and leave a last message."
He aimed to provoke Yelai, trying to shatter his psychological defenses.
Yelai turned back to look at Shadow Person, a strange smile forming on his face as he spoke leisurely. "In this darkness, your Sequence is indeed formidable; I admit that. Who said I couldn't approach reflective surfaces with you around?"
"Hmm?" Shadow Person raised an eyebrow. He detected confidence in Yelai's words.
Before he could ponder where Yelai's confidence came from, his pupils suddenly contracted as he gazed at the scenery ahead, and his expression changed dramatically.
Ahead lay a vast lake, its surface as calm as a mirror under the quiet night sky, reflecting the stars above with crystal clarity. At that moment, a strange smile crept across Yelai's lips.
Since the Year of the Sequence, he had developed a habit of surveying his surroundings whenever he arrived at a new place, and now it was proving useful. He took a step forward, leaping into the air and plunging into the lake.
With such a large reflective surface, how could anyone stop me? His voice echoed softly in the stillness.
The Shadow Person wanted to prevent Yelai from diving into the lake but found himself powerless. Previously, he had managed to keep Yelai away from reflective objects; those items in the villa were small enough to block Yelai's approach. But now, things were different. The lake was expansive.
If he attempted to stop Yelai, he would have to get close to the water. But doing so would put him in danger, making it easy for Yelai to drag him into the mirrored world from any point in the lake.
"Take me into the mirrored world!" Yelai's voice rang out.
With a splash, Yelai fell into the lake, pulled into the mirrored realm by his Gaze that followed him closely.
Suddenly, Yelai emerged from the lake in the mirrored world with a flourish.
In the real world, the Shadow Person furrowed his brow, surprised that one day he would let his target escape into the night—especially one ranked Seven. Just as he was lost in thought, he heard Yelai's voice echoing from across the lake.
"In the darkness, you are invincible; on this lake, I am more invincible than you."
