The reasoning behind "having a precious gem is a crime" was something Yelai understood well. However, understanding it didn't mean he intended to be a coward or someone who simply endured. He had tolerated enough for too long. His previous low profile was entirely for the sake of the "Broken Key." But that was no longer the case.
He didn't want to remain low-key as Luo Zhenxue's only weakness and blemish any longer. Suddenly, after a flurry of thoughts, Yelai made a decision. Before revealing and eliminating those who had harmed him, he would keep the existence of the Black Key a secret. Once he dealt with his enemies, he would give Zhenxue and everyone else a huge surprise.
With that thought in mind, he prepared to rise. This place was not the Safe Zone; it was Cthulhu Town. For him, who had yet to establish contact with any Anomalous Entities, it felt no different than dancing on the edge of death.
Just as he was about to get up, a sound caught his attention.
Swish!
The tentacles of the resurrected Yelai Octopus surged forth from the mist once again.
!!!
Yelai's pupils constricted.
Anomalous Entity?!
This was far too large. The massive tentacle of the Octopus was bigger than the front of a truck, making it hard to imagine just how enormous the source of those tentacles lurking in the mist truly was.
Cursing silently, Yelai wasted no time and took off running. He certainly didn't want to die again right after being revived. However, good intentions often fall short of reality; the Octopus's tentacles were far too swift, wrapping around him in an instant.
No, I can't die! Luo Xue is still waiting for me to return.
He desperately clawed at the stone platform with his hands, trying to break free from the grip of the Octopus's tentacles. Unfortunately, the force on the other side was terrifying—beyond what an ordinary person could contend with.
Yelai struggled for less than a second before being dragged into the mist by the Octopus's tentacles, leaving deep marks on the Stone Platform as he was pulled away. No one knew what had happened on the Stone Platform. The only ones aware were the houses and rooms in Cthulhu Town, but they didn't care about Yelai's fate at all.
What they were concerned about was that the mist had been summoned for Yelai, including the very event that triggered it. Now that Yelai was being dragged into the mist, it would finally disperse.
One second. Two seconds. Three seconds.
They waited for several seconds, puzzled. Normally, the mist should have cleared by now; those who were pulled into it either died or emerged alive. Yet the mist remained thick, and ancient whispers echoed once more from within.
Upon hearing this, the Anomalous Entities realized that whatever was inside the mist had not yet left. In addition to the whispers, Yelai's voice drifted out softly.
"Who are you? The Ruler? Cthulhu?! What does this mean? A transaction?"
Accompanied by ancient whispers, Yelai's voice occasionally echoed, coming from both the front and the back. Yelai was communicating with something in the mist.
If Sequence were here, they would surely be left speechless. No one knew what lay within the mist, nor had anyone ever seen it. However, through various clues, the Sequence concluded that whatever was in the mist was also an Anomalous Entity, referring to it as the God Cthulhu.
Since the discovery of Cthulhu Town and the revelation of the God Cthulhu, many had studied Cthulhu, attempting to communicate with it and even establish a connection. It was one of the few instances where a God Anomalous Entity could be sought after.
Unfortunately, such aspirations were merely beautiful illusions. The truth was that no one could understand the whispers of the mist—more precisely, the whispers of Cthulhu. Anyone who listened, attempted to communicate, or even ventured into the mist to catch a glimpse of Cthulhu's true form inevitably went mad from its whispers.
It was said that even the Crimson Key Sequence, who once sought to communicate with it, met the same fate.
