The disciple escorting Gu Ping stood on his own sword, preparing to fly with Gu Ping to Dongshan.
"Xie Shixiong."
That call of "Shixiong" was quite pleasant to hear. I was just the right fit for his taste. If anything happened in the Outer Court, he could come find me; he wouldn't do anything that would offend others.
As they spoke, the two had already soared into the sky above Chang Kong. In the distance, the red clouds on the horizon resembled a Jiao Long emerging from the sea, twisting and turning in the sky. The Divine Dragon appeared without end, and the Red Cloud stretched out in an unknown direction.
"Don't worry, I won't put you in a difficult position, Shixiong."
"Wrong. Regarding the matter of Mingyue, can Wang Steward explain it to me?"
"Wang Steward?" Gu Ping's light exclamation made that scholar from the academy recall who it was; he had no idea what Wang Steward was called.
The old man at the entrance.
"Oh, indeed." Gu Ping nodded.
He first sent me to see him; Wang Steward said he had something to discuss with me.
At Shandong's entrance, Wang Steward saw the two flying toward him and took a couple of steps forward to greet them, waving his hand. That kid of mine certainly recognized me well.
Clearly, Wang Steward greatly appreciated Gu Ping's actions. At a crucial moment, there wasn't a hint of hesitation, nor did he give the enemy a chance to breathe. He exerted all his effort to ensure that his mistakes were met with the utmost respect.
The old man was no ordinary person; how could he possibly mistake someone? Gu Ping also followed suit, feeling a sense of camaraderie.
"Rest assured, I will definitely fulfill my promise," Ming Yue Qing Chen said. "Tomorrow, I will accompany him to the mountain, and he will give me a chance to enter the Outer Court. Make sure to say a proper goodbye to my friends and family tonight, for once I enter the Outer Court, I will be far removed from the mortal realm."
The old man patted Gu Ping on the shoulder, increasingly finding the young man pleasing to the eye. He had no worries about Gu Pingming passing the Outer Court's assessment.
"Then I shall take my leave," the disciple said.
Returning to Zhang Chenyu and the others, Gu Ping released Yoyo from his embrace. The little creature had been restless in his arms, making it difficult for anyone to sleep well. As soon as Yoyo touched the ground, it immediately grew in size, stretching its limbs and yawning widely.
"Thanks to Yoyo, I've had quite a few troubles; that little rascal is so unruly," Gu Ping remarked.
He wondered how he had managed to tame the Giant Spirit Eagle; was there some cheating involved?
Zhang Chenyu secretly glanced at Yoyo, wanting to reach out and touch it, but Yoyo refused to let her hold it. It seemed like it was playing with Wu Ji instead. Zhang Chenyu felt a mix of frustration and amusement; it was pointless trying to reason with a fox.
"Gu Brother truly has remarkable charm," someone exclaimed. "If you keep this up, you'll become a sought-after talent across all nations of Tiandong."
"Look at what I'm saying; aren't you already stealing the spotlight? That guy named Wei De got thoroughly beaten during the Martial Examination. As soon as Gu Brother stepped in, he sent that fellow running for his life—truly impressive."
Everyone chimed in with their comments as they headed toward the nearest tavern. After searching for a while without finding a small inn, they ended up at Watchmoon Tower. Bu Luo suggested that Wangyue Tower could send someone to buy drinks, so they decided to wait there for a bit while engaging in lively discussions among themselves.
After the Bright Moon Battle, being first place no longer seemed important to him. Ming Yue Qing Chen was eager to participate in the Outer Court's test; if he passed, he would enter the Outer Court and leave behind the Dust Realm forever. Gu Ping raised his cup and drank it all in one go.
"Gu Brother, I don't deny it. Ordinary people, clearly we were on the same starting line last month, but after this full moon, it feels like we're worlds apart."
Wu Qing forced a smile. "Is it possible that he can easily obtain what I could never hope to achieve? Although there are no tests, Mok Ming Academy's selection of Outer Court disciples must have gone through some scrutiny. They wouldn't let just anyone participate in the tests unless they were fairly confident in their abilities. The pass rate should be extremely high."
"I did ask for it during the full moon," he added.
Zhang Chenyu licked his lips as he drank from the wine flask, mimicking Gu Ping's actions from the day before after their test. He raised the flask and took large gulps, hoping to drown his sorrows and forget about that matter.
That morning, it was unclear how much the five of them had drunk. Gu Ping had a strong constitution and couldn't get drunk, but the other four had collapsed onto the table, not even returning home. When they finally woke up in the early morning, they realized that Gu Ping and Yoyo were already missing. They decided to head towards the palace gates to see if they could find any news.
Little did they know, this might be their last chance to meet again.
