He could only wonder what Emperor Dong had already seen. He desired a grand scene like Cloud Dragon Swallowing the Moon, but he didn't deny that it was something one could encounter casually every day.
Jin Huang stepped closer to Gu Ping, carefully scrutinizing the young man before him, who appeared to be over a decade younger and nearly thirty. He did not seem as wise as he portrayed, nor did he exude any personal charm; he was entirely an ordinary person, one among millions in Great Jin.
Yet here stood this utterly unremarkable individual, calmly discussing the future of the Great Jin Yang Family with him, as if he had his own life to lead.
He couldn't deny that. What role did he play? Why didn’t Gu Ping simply take that thing for himself?
Jin Huang's face was almost pressed against Gu Ping's, with only a finger's width between them, allowing him to hear the faint sound of Gu Ping's breathing. Gu Ping's breath was so calm, like a gentle breeze rippling across a lake, barely stirring the surface. Jin Huang's breathing was much slower than Gu Ping's, akin to a volcano brewing beneath the surface, ready to erupt at any moment.
He wouldn't want that thing; no one could protect it—neither he nor the Great Jin Yang Family. Whoever possessed it would be doomed. He believed he had already seen it.
I am too weak.
Jin Huang threw out the fundamental question: Gu Ping was too weak. Ultimately, he was just a mortal without sufficient power backing him to collaborate with the Great Jin Yang Family. No one wanted a teammate who could only be a burden, right?
But Gu Ping was not weak. He turned his head and glanced at Liu Lao Jiu.
Liu Lao Jiu nodded and took out a Jade Token from his pocket. With a flow of spiritual energy, the Jade Token displayed the four characters of Mok Ming Academy, hovering in front of Liu Lao Jiu.
Seeing those characters made Jin Huang's expression turn serious. The strength of Mok Ming Academy was not comparable to that of Jade Void Sect; if this young man truly had Mok Ming Academy behind him, then...
The young man became quite interesting. However, thinking about how they might deceive the Yang Family’s leader in Secular affairs tomorrow made him chuckle; Old Man would probably trick that little brat Yang Xin.
An aged voice reached everyone's ears. They turned toward the sound and saw an elderly man with a head full of white hair entering through the side door. Though his skin was as wrinkled as tree bark, his red robe accentuated his celestial aura, completely devoid of any decayed aura and instead radiating vitality.
Yang Xin greeted the Ancestor and paid his respects. Jin Huang saw the visitor and performed a bow.
It was evident that the elderly man before them was a senior member of the Great Jin Yang Family. Given that Jin Huang referred to him as Ancestor, he must have been quite old. With so many years behind him, one could not expect him to lack strength; it was uncertain how far he had come in his journey. Thus, Zhuang Zhixian and Liu Lao Jiu held their breaths, not daring to speak carelessly.
The old gentleman chuckled, insisting that he had never deceived anyone and was merely speaking the truth.
Hmph, the elder puffed out his beard, looking rather comical, yet none of those present found it amusing. "I don't deny," he said. "If I were truly backed by Mok Ming Academy, would I need to hide like this? I would have long since arrived at Mok Ming Academy. Just because someone thinks they are a disciple of Mok Ming Academy does not mean they represent it."
Upon hearing the elder's pointed words, Liu Lao Jiu chose not to argue further and quietly put away the Jade Token.
Gu Ping smiled and remarked, "Even if I had no support behind me, does Yang Family really think they can confront Jade Void Sect head-on? I can't even speak up; what does Yang Family have that can stand against Jade Void Sect?"
"I may be wrong," he continued, "but I truly believe the Old Man won't show up tomorrow." The elder paused for a moment before discussing his plans.
"I have no grand plans," he said. "I merely wish to ask the Yang Family for an item—an artifact that can at least withstand a Nascent Soul Cultivator. That way, I could buy some time until Jade Void Sect and Light Path Classic engage in their Great War. Then I would have a chance to speak."
"You young man, you haven't spoken a single truth," the elder replied. "Even if such an artifact were given to you, you wouldn't be able to use it effectively. So tell me, what exactly do you plan? Tomorrow, Yang Family will make that deal with me."
"Ancestor," Jin Huang interjected cautiously from the side, aware that the elder's appearance tomorrow would significantly influence Yang Family's decision. He couldn't help but hesitate; after all, this was merely a matter that could be resolved in the Secular world.
He sought four Light Speed Talismans, four Golden Bell Talismans, and two Revival Talismans.
