Hong Ling kicked out her leg, wondering what exactly was in the box. She knew that whatever was inside must originally belong to the Daoist Sect, and only the Daoist Sect could trade with the Daoist Sect. Yet, she couldn't help but want to know what could possibly be worth such effort for those from the Daoist Sect to search for in the World of Mortals. 0

Chen Zongbiao tilted his head just in time to dodge a cold arrow, reluctantly turning to fend off the enemies that Coco might bring from behind. At this moment, he chose to trust his disciple; there was no other way. 0

A figure in black rushed through the chaos, thrusting a sword toward Chen Zongbiao's chest. He quickly raised his Great Hammer in front of him, blocking the gleaming sword and rendering the assailant immobile. 0

Just as Chen Zongbiao was about to kick the black-clad man away from the carriage, another person came charging after them, swinging a blade at him. Chen Zongbiao hurriedly swung his hammer to deflect the attack, then swung his other Great Hammer toward the advancing enemy. 0

The black-clad man leaped aside to evade Chen Zongbiao's strike but did not expect him to endure a blow from another attacker, allowing Chen Zongbiao to send the first assailant flying. 0

After delivering that blow, Chen Zongbiao felt a long gash open up on his back—a serious wound that bled profusely, looking quite terrifying. 0

He turned to face the one who had struck him and uttered a single word: "Battle." 0

With that thunderous declaration, both Great Hammers collided in mid-air with a deafening sound. The impact left the attacker dazed as Chen Zongbiao stepped closer and slammed a hammer into his chest, sending a spray of blood splattering onto the carriage while the man flew through the air. 0

Having dealt with that opponent, Chen Zongbiao turned back to Hong Ling. He stepped forward, using all his strength in his left leg as he swung his Great Hammer swiftly toward her. 0

At that moment, Hong Ling was entangled in combat with three of Chen Zongbiao's disciples using her whip. Suddenly feeling a chill run down her spine, she didn't hesitate and leaped off Chen Zongbiao's horse, rolling on the ground until she finally came to a stop. 0

As she stood up and looked toward the direction where the horse team had fled, she saw that Chen Zongbiao's horse had been knocked over by a swing of the Great Hammer. If she hadn't dodged in time, she would have likely been crushed into pulp. 0

Chen Zongbiao bent down and grabbed hold of the box on the carriage, calculating the distance to the bridge in his mind—ten meters, forty meters, thirty meters—so close, just a little more. 0

With all his strength, he hurled the box toward the bridge. It spun through the air before crashing down with a loud thud onto the bridge. 0

Everyone behind him unconsciously halted their attacks and turned to look at the bridge. Chen Zongbiao suddenly felt as if the entire world had gone silent. He gazed at Gan Yuan, who was standing at the bridgehead, his eyes filled with endless pity and mockery. Then he looked at the spies pursuing him, their expressions darkened, as if they were pitying him, much like the young man at the bridgehead—almost identical. 0

He turned his attention to his disciples, who were rushing toward the bridge. The horses were almost at the bridge now. He recalled Gu Ping's earlier instructions. 0

Gu Ping stood at the entrance of the Azure Wind Escort Agency, pulling out a ten-thousand-tael silver note from his pocket and stuffing it into Chen Zongbiao's hand. "Keep this," he had said. "Just in case I don't come back. It's all Keke can do for my wife and daughter. If I don't return, Coco won't escape either." 0

Even if he didn't return, it didn't necessarily mean anything. Chen Zongbiao had no idea what Gu Ping was truly facing, yet he managed to comfort him, even though it was clear that Chen Zongbiao wasn't good at offering solace. 0

Hopefully... 0

Chen Zongbiao remembered Gu Ping's lonely figure as he left, like an orphan abandoned by the world or a wayward son forsaking the light, engulfed in despair. He felt a pang of understanding for Gu Ping's emotions and grasped a bit of what Gu Ping had tried to express. 0

Suddenly, Chen Zongbiao collapsed in the carriage and shouted toward his disciples, "Run!" 0

He saw his eldest disciple rush to the bridgehead. Just then, he heard Chen Zongbiao's voice and tightened his grip on the reins, trying to turn his horse around. Gasping for breath, there was no time left. 0

Gan Yuan tilted his head and looked at his junior brother Guo Xiaochun. Guo Xiaochun moved swiftly; a short blade shot out like a streak of light, slicing through Chen Zongbiao's eldest disciple's throat before returning to Guo Xiaochun's hand. 0

Bang! 0

The Great Hammer fell helplessly to the ground. Chen Zongbiao looked at Guo Xiaochun with eyes that seemed dead inside, then turned to see Gan Yuan and others watching them with pity from the bridgehead. 0

Guo Xiaochun moved again; this time, two lives were taken. Chen Zongbiao clenched his fists as he reached the bridge and swung a punch toward Guo Xiaochun. 0

Chen Zongbiao's fist ultimately never reached Guo Xiaochun. The short blade pierced through his chest, blood spilling onto the bridge. When Chen Zongbiao first saw the scene, Guo Xiaochun shook his head and slightly moved Yi Dong's leg. Then, the image was forever frozen in that moment, with no future to follow. 0
