The military satellite of the Chou Kingdom had long since transmitted the situation back to headquarters at lightning speed. The High Command had gathered urgently for an important meeting, and they quickly connected to the live feed. What they saw left them all dumbfounded, their eyes glued to the screen displaying the soldiers of the Dragon Kingdom, who appeared as if they were divine warriors descending upon the world.
The room fell into a deathly silence, as each member of the High Command turned pale, their faces resembling sheets of paper. Their eyes widened in shock, filled with deep fear and extreme trepidation. Some were trembling uncontrollably, their lips quivering as beads of sweat poured down their foreheads like rain. Others gaped in disbelief, as if they could effortlessly fit an ostrich egg into their mouths.
What on earth were these soldiers from the Dragon Kingdom? One High Command member shouted hoarsely, his voice trembling like a fragile branch swaying in a storm. "How can each of them possess combat power that rivals an ordinary Heroic Spirit?"
"Could it be that they are all Heroic Spirits?" another High Command member rasped, his voice strained with shock. "The Dragon Kingdom must be cheating in secret!"
Someone else, furious and beside themselves with rage, bellowed in outrage.
Both hands were tightly clenched into fists, trembling violently as if trying to release the raging anger burning deep within. How could there possibly be room for cheating? The combat power was real and undeniable; there was no way to fabricate anything.
Without hesitation, someone argued back firmly, their voice filled with helplessness and confusion. What should we do? What strategy should we adopt? Another person worriedly furrowed their brow, anxiety etched across their face, pacing back and forth in the conference room like an ant on a hot pan.
"Let’s just withdraw; there's no point in this meaningless struggle," someone else suggested in a panic. The suggestion, filled with fear, echoed through the room.
In an instant, the conference room erupted into chaos, voices rising and falling like a boiling pot of porridge. Fear and anxiety surged like a torrential flood, quickly spreading to every corner, suffocating everyone present.
Finally, President Dong Xizong slammed his hand on the table with force. His expression was as dark as a stormy sky, as if a tempest could break at any moment. In a low but commanding voice, he said, "Everyone quiet down. No more noise, no matter what."
At this critical moment, retreat was absolutely out of the question. If we withdrew, where would the face of the Chou Kingdom go? We must continue to send people into battle and deploy the Golden Eagle.
As soon as these powerful and unquestionable words fell from his lips, the conference room fell silent as if a silence spell had been cast. After a moment, someone, trembling with fear, cautiously asked how many teams of the Golden Eagle would be deployed.
Dong Xizong's gaze was as cold as ice as he shot a glance at the person who spoke. His expression was as stern as an ancient glacier. Without any change in his demeanor, he replied, "All teams."
A collective gasp echoed through the conference room. The Golden Eagle referred to by Dong Xizong was short for the Golden Eagle Special Operations Team. This elite unit had been formed after the onset of the Awakening Era, selecting from among the powerful warriors who had awakened Divine-Class Heroic Spirits. They underwent meticulous screening, choosing only the best of the best.
To date, there were only about one hundred thirty members in total. They were carefully divided into four small teams. Since its establishment, the Golden Eagle Special Operations Team had never before seen all teams deployed at once. Only one team had previously executed a mission in New De, where just over thirty members swiftly annihilated all of the Exotic Species that appeared there within half an hour.
Of course, in eliminating the Exotic Species, they also completely leveled New De to the ground. It was a desperate measure, but one that had to be taken.
It is the necessary price that must be paid to achieve the goal. Now, do we really have to deploy all of the Golden Eagles to deal with the Dragon Kingdom? Has the situation truly deteriorated to such a severe and urgent extent?
The atmosphere on-site was tense to the extreme, like a powder keg ready to explode at any moment. Some people stared wide-eyed, their faces filled with doubt, shouting hoarsely, "Is the situation really beyond redemption? Has it reached a point of no return?"
Immediately, someone’s face flushed red, emotions erupting like a volcano as they retorted passionately, "Isn't the current situation already dire enough? Are we not hanging by a thread? We have already lost twenty-two Military Advisors—twenty-two! All of whom were awakened Divine-Class Heroic Spirits. Isn't that enough to clearly illustrate the extreme severity and danger of our circumstances?"
Others furrowed their brows in deep concern, worried that this course of action was extremely unwise. Straining to raise their voice, they said loudly, "Even if the current situation is indeed so severe and pressing, we shouldn't deploy everything without reservation. Shouldn't we keep some reserves on standby in case of unexpected developments?"
If, in the end, we still cannot successfully resolve the issue, what are we supposed to do? Some individuals remained undeterred, continuing to express their passionate emotions. They fervently countered, "If deploying everyone still fails to solve the current dilemma, wouldn't that precisely and powerfully demonstrate the extreme necessity of full mobilization?"
The debate intensified, with both sides exchanging sharp words, each holding firm to their opinions. The argument escalated into a heated exchange, spiraling into chaos that was nearly impossible to control. Ultimately, with no other options left and feeling helpless, they decided to make the final decision through a vote.
The result of the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of deploying the entire Golden Eagle Special Operations Team. Upon seeing this outcome, Dong Xizong's face remained expressionless, as if he wore a mask devoid of emotion. He appeared calm and unruffled on the surface, but deep down, where no one could see, he quietly let out a sigh of relief. They had finally reached this critical step. Now, it all depended on how the other side would respond and whether it would align with his inner expectations.
