Finally, Li Xue brought Li Jin to the hospital. The doctor prescribed him some medication, and he lay on the hospital bed receiving an IV drip.
Li Xue sat by his bedside, watching him. "How do you feel?" she asked.
Li Jin looked at her and replied, "I feel much better."
Li Xue smiled at him. "Then make sure to rest well."
Li Jin gazed at her with gratitude. "Sister, thank you."
Li Xue chuckled softly. "No need to thank me."
...
That evening, Li Xue returned to the villa.
Gu Jingchen looked at her and asked, "Where have you been?"
Li Xue met his gaze. "I went to the hospital."
Concerned, Gu Jingchen inquired, "What happened?"
Li Xue shook her head. "I'm fine; it's my brother. He had a fever."
Gu Jingchen's expression softened. "Is your brother okay now?"
Li Xue nodded. "He's fine."
"That's good to hear," Gu Jingchen said.
Li Xue then asked, "How's your wound?"
Gu Jingchen replied, "My wound is much better."
"That's great," she said with relief.
Gu Jingchen looked at her earnestly. "Can you stay with me tonight?"
Li Xue smiled gently. "I can stay."
"Thank you," he said sincerely.
Li Xue laughed lightly. "No need to thank me."
Jing Shen stood outside Chen Li's studio, holding his phone with a furrowed brow. He had just arrived at the company when he received her call.
Chen Li was crying on the other end, pleading for him to believe her. She said she truly loved him and cherished their years together.
Jing Shen felt a wave of frustration; they had been arguing for some time, and he was exhausted. Yet, hearing her sobs made it hard for him to be harsh.
He sighed, "I'll come over now." With that, he hung up the phone.
When Jing Shen reached the door of Chen Li's studio, he knocked lightly. She opened the door immediately.
"Jing Shen, you’re here," she said, looking at him.
"Yeah," he replied.
"Come in quickly," she urged as he stepped inside.
Chen Li closed the door behind them. Jing Shen walked over to the sofa and sat down while she moved to the table to pour him a glass of water.
"Are you feeling better?" he asked, watching her.
She nodded. "Much better."
Jing Shen studied her for a moment before asking, "Can you tell me what’s going on now?"
Looking back at him, Chen Li said, "I don’t know."
"Then how do you know my business secrets have been leaked?" he pressed.
Chen Li looked at him, "Someone told me."
Gu Jingchen stared back, "Who?"
Chen Li shook her head, "I don't know."
Gu Jingchen continued to look at her, "Then how did you resolve it?"
Chen Li replied, "I went to find that boss, begged him to believe me, and give me a chance."
Jing Shen asked, "Did he agree?"
Chen Li nodded, "Yes."
Jing Shen scrutinized her, "So he really didn't make things difficult for you?"
Chen Li shook her head, "No."
Jing Shen pressed further, "Really?"
Chen Li affirmed, "Really."
Jing Shen inquired, "Then why were you crying?"
Chen Li answered, "Because I was scared."
Jing Shen asked gently, "Scared of what?"
Chen Li looked at him, "Scared that you wouldn't believe me anymore."
Jing Shen paused and gazed at Chen Li, "I will always believe you."
Chen Li asked softly, "Really?"
Jing Shen nodded, "Yes."
Chen Li continued, "Then you won't argue with me anymore in the future, right?"
Jing Shen assured her, "I won't."
Chen Li looked hopeful, "Then will you always stay by my side from now on?"
Jing Shen paused again and said to Chen Li, "I will always be by your side."
