Hearing someone call her name, she slowly lifted her head. When she saw Gu Jingchen lying on the ground, covered in blood, she completely broke down.
"Gu Jingchen!" she cried as she rushed to his side. "Gu Jingchen, what happened to you?"
Gu Jingchen slowly opened his eyes. "I... I'm fine."
Li Xue looked at his pale face. "You've lost so much blood. Just wait, I'll get you to the hospital right away." She tried to help him up.
Gu Jingchen shook his head. "I... I'm really fine."
He looked at her. "Don't cry; I'm okay."
Li Xue wiped her tears. "You're in this condition; how can you be fine?"
Gu Jingchen smiled weakly. "I really am fine." He gazed at her. "Are you okay?"
Li Xue shook her head. "I'm fine."
Gu Jingchen smiled again. "That's good." He looked at her reassuringly. "Don't worry; I won't be hurt. I still need to protect you."
Li Xue's eyes stung with tears. "Are you really okay?"
Gu Jingchen nodded. "Yeah."
At that moment, the sound of sirens filled the air as ambulances and police cars arrived. Gu Jingchen was loaded onto a stretcher and taken into the ambulance, and Li Xue followed him inside.
The doctor performed basic first aid on Gu Jingchen, who appeared very pale and weak. Li Xue held his hand tightly, feeling a wave of panic wash over her.
Gu Jingchen slowly opened his eyes again. "I'm fine."
Li Xue's eyes brimmed with tears. "Please don't talk; just close your eyes and rest for a bit."
Gu Jingchen looked at her earnestly. "I really am fine."
Li Xue's voice trembled as she replied, "I know; just close your eyes and rest a little while longer. We'll be at the hospital soon."
Gu Jingchen gazed at her intently. "What about you?"
Li Xue paused for a moment before responding, "I'll stay with you."
Gu Jingchen smiled softly, "Alright."
He slowly closed his eyes.

At the hospital, Gu Jingchen was pushed into the operating room by the doctor.
Li Xue waited anxiously outside.
A wave of panic surged in her heart, and her mind felt chaotic.
She had never been this scared before.
She truly feared that something might happen to Gu Jingchen.
Time passed slowly, each second feeling like an eternity, and the door to the operating room remained tightly shut.
Li Xue sat on a bench outside, her mood heavy with anxiety.
After what felt like ages, the door finally opened.
Li Xue immediately stood up and rushed over, "Doctor, how is he?"
The doctor looked at her and said, "The patient is not in immediate danger, but he has lost a lot of blood and needs to rest well."
Li Xue let out a sigh of relief, "Thank you, doctor."
The doctor smiled, "No need to thank us; it's our duty."
Li Xue nodded, "Can I go see him?"
The doctor shook his head, "Not yet. He hasn't woken up. You can see him once he does."
Li Xue felt a bit disappointed, "Alright then."
The doctor left.
Li Xue returned to the bench outside, her heart heavy with worry.
After some time, a nurse came over and said that Gu Jingchen had woken up.
Li Xue immediately got up and went to his room.
Upon entering the ward, she saw Gu Jingchen lying on the bed, his face still pale.
She approached him, "You're awake?"
Gu Jingchen looked at her and replied, "Mm."
Li Xue asked, "Are you hungry? I can go get you something to eat."
Gu Jingchen shook his head, "I'm not hungry."
Li Xue pressed her lips together, "Then I'll stay here with you."
Gu Jingchen looked at her and asked, "Aren't you going back?"
Li Xue shook her head, "I'm not going back."
Gu Jingchen smiled and said, "Then stay here with me."
Li Xue nodded, "Okay."
That evening, Li Xue stayed in the hospital room. She looked at Gu Jingchen and asked, "What do you want to eat? I can go buy it for you."
Gu Jingchen replied, "I want to eat an apple."
Li Xue nodded, "Alright, I'll peel it for you." She picked up an apple and started peeling it. Gu Jingchen watched her, his gaze deep.
Once she finished peeling the apple, Li Xue handed it to him. Gu Jingchen looked at her and said, "Feed me."
Li Xue was a bit speechless, "Don't you have hands?"
Gu Jingchen chuckled, "But I'm injured."
Li Xue paused for a moment, "Then wait a second." She went outside to find a fruit knife, cut the apple into small pieces, placed them on a plate, and added a few toothpicks.
She returned to the hospital room with the plate and said, "Here, eat."
Gu Jingchen looked at her, "Aren't you going to feed me?"
Li Xue replied, "You can eat by yourself."
Gu Jingchen smiled again, "Alright then." He took a toothpick, speared a piece of apple, and put it in his mouth.
Li Xue watched him and asked, "Is it good?"
Gu Jingchen nodded, "It's good."
Li Xue smiled back, "Then eat more."
Gu Jingchen looked at her and said, "You should eat too."
Li Xue nodded, "Okay." She sat on the edge of the bed, eating apple slices while chatting with Gu Jingchen.
Gu Jingchen looked at her and asked, "Are you tired?"
Li Xue shook her head, "I'm not tired."
Gu Jingchen continued to look at her and said, "You should go back. I can manage alone."
Li Xue gazed at him and asked, "Are you really okay by yourself?"
Gu Jingchen nodded affirmatively, "Yeah."
Li Xue pressed her lips together and said, "Alright then."
She stood up. "I'm heading back now. Call me if you need anything."
Gu Jingchen looked at her and replied, "Okay."
Li Xue turned and walked out.
The next day, Li Xue arrived early in the morning.
She brought breakfast that she had made herself.
Gu Jingchen looked at her and asked, "You came so early?"
Li Xue smiled, "I wanted to see you sooner."
Gu Jingchen paused for a moment, "Why do you want to see me so early?"
Li Xue gazed at him, "Because I miss you."
Gu Jingchen was taken aback, "You... you miss me?"
Li Xue nodded, "Yes."
Gu Jingchen continued to look at her, "Why do you miss me?"
Li Xue felt a bit shy, "I just... want to see you."
Gu Jingchen's gaze softened, "Do you really miss me?"
Li Xue met his eyes, "Of course I do."
Gu Jingchen smiled, "I miss you too."
Li Xue's face flushed, "You should eat your breakfast."
Gu Jingchen looked at her and said, "Feed me."
"..." Li Xue was a bit speechless, "Don't you have hands?"
Gu Jingchen chuckled, "But I'm injured."
Li Xue sighed in resignation, "Fine."
She picked up the bowl of porridge, scooped a spoonful, blew on it to cool it down, and brought it to Gu Jingchen's lips.
Gu Jingchen watched her and said, "You cooled it down."
Li Xue's face turned redder, "I... I just didn't want you to burn yourself."
Gu Jingchen smiled again, "Thank you."
Li Xue's cheeks grew even warmer.
She fed Gu Jingchen his breakfast and wiped his mouth afterward.
Gu Jingchen looked at her and said, "You're really wonderful."
Li Xue felt a bit shy. "I... I just did what I should do."
Gu Jingchen looked at her. "Why are you so nice to me?"
She met his gaze. "Because... because I like you."
Gu Jingchen was taken aback. "What did you say?"
Li Xue's face turned red. "I... I said I like you."
Gu Jingchen continued to look at her. "You said you like me?"
Li Xue nodded. "Mm."
Gu Jingchen asked, "Do you really like me?"
She replied earnestly, "Of course I like you."
He pressed further, "Why do you like me?"
Li Xue felt a bit embarrassed. "I... I just like you."
Gu Jingchen smiled. "I like you too."
Li Xue's face flushed even more. "You... you said you like me?"
He nodded again. "Mm."
Li Xue was a bit excited. "Do you really like me?"
Gu Jingchen looked at her with sincerity. "Of course I like you."
Li Xue's cheeks were burning. "So do I."
The two exchanged smiles.
At that moment, Wang walked in.
He paused when he saw the scene before him.
Gu Jingchen turned to him. "What are you doing here?"
Wang smiled. "I came to bring you breakfast."
Gu Jingchen replied, "We've already eaten."
Wang was surprised. "Eaten already?"
He glanced at Li Xue and then back at Gu Jingchen. "You two... didn't stay up all night, did you?"
Li Xue's face turned crimson again. "I went home last night."
Wang blinked in realization. "Oh, is that so?"
He placed the breakfast on the table. "What should we do with all this breakfast?"
Gu Jingchen looked at him and said, "You can eat it yourself."
Wang chuckled. "Then I won't hold back."
He sat down and started eating the breakfast.
As he ate, he kept an eye on Li Xue and Gu Jingchen.
Gu Jingchen looked at him and asked, "Are you done eating?"
Wang shook his head, "Not yet."
Gu Jingchen replied, "Then take your time."
Wang was taken aback, "Where are you two going?"
Gu Jingchen responded, "We're going outside for some fresh air."
Wang nodded, "Oh."
Gu Jingchen turned to Li Xue, "Shall we go?"
Li Xue nodded, "Sure."
The two of them left.
Wang watched their retreating figures and rubbed his chin. It seemed he was right; the CEO and Miss Li were indeed a thing.
Outside, Gu Jingchen and Li Xue walked through the hospital park.
Gu Jingchen looked at her and asked, "Was what you said earlier true?"
Li Xue was startled, "What did I say?"
Gu Jingchen continued to gaze at her, "You said you liked me."
Li Xue's face turned red, "I... I meant it."
Gu Jingchen pressed further, "Do you really like me?"
Li Xue nodded shyly, "I really do."
Gu Jingchen asked again, "Then why do you like me?"
Li Xue felt a bit embarrassed, "I... I just like you."
