Chapter 154: Calculations
The one wielding the frying pan was, of course, Bai Luo. He had been watching this guy for quite some time.
However, today, his usually effective frying pan seemed less reliable.
At the moment he swung the frying pan down, Sato Ryuseki turned around, and a faint green energy shield suddenly appeared on his face. Bai Luo's powerful strike hit the shield, but no matter how hard he swung, the frying pan in his hand shattered with a loud crack and flew off to the side.
Bai Luo was somewhat surprised; he wasn't clear about the specific effects of Sato Ryuseki's magic circle. Although he knew that Sato Ryuseki still had combat capability, he assumed he was just an ordinary person "returned to his original form." He didn't expect this guy to have such a form of energy-based resistance.
Sato Ryuseki was equally taken aback. He squinted slightly; although he had been prepared, he hadn't anticipated that it would be Bai Luo—the "Vacationer" in his mind—who would launch a surprise attack.
Yet, surprisingly, Sato Ryuseki felt a sense of caution towards Bai Luo. He directly said, "Are you looking to claim a kill? That's fine; I can let you have him. I only want to achieve victory in this team battle."
With that, he took a step back, allowing Vikas to come into view, showing an abundance of sincerity.
Bai Luo was slightly surprised but quickly realized that Sato Ryuseki was also wary of his so-called "imaginary" Vacationer identity.
In fact, Bai Luo had been contemplating this himself.
A Vacationer could very well be a type of Reincarnator, blending the concept of Reincarnators with that of Vacationers. The Vacationer that Sato Ryuseki referred to might be those Reincarnators who linger in mission worlds without forming teams.
The other party mistakenly thought of himself as a Reincarnator as well.
Among Reincarnators, completing kills against each other evidently also yielded reward points.
At this moment, Sato Ryuseki regarded his own presence here as a valuable reward point for claiming Vikas's head.
Bai Luo did not act immediately; he narrowed his eyes and glanced at Sato Ryuseki. This was not the time for negotiations like before when no battle had erupted. Vikas was at least a B-Class Reincarnator, worth over twenty thousand points in Bai Luo's System. The price for his head wouldn't be low with the Main God either. Sato Ryuseki only needed to kill him to leave this world entirely and reap substantial rewards. Everyone has their greed; moreover, Sato Ryuseki was essentially handing over the fruits of his battle to Bai Luo, allowing him to claim a kill for free.
Bai Luo felt a flicker of excitement. Sato Ryuseki's individual combat ability was not particularly strong; he might not even rank higher than the Shining Fruit User or Tiger Lee at the same level under the Main God. He could be at one level, or perhaps even lower. It was a phenomenon unique to this kind of middle-school fantasy Japanese Reincarnator team that a relatively weak Reincarnator would serve as the team leader. Sato Ryuseki's formidable strength stemmed entirely from his exchanged items and summoned beings.
In contrast, Vikas possessed genuine hard power that truly belonged to him. He was a bona fide B-Rank, possibly even an A-Rank Ability User.
If Bai Luo chose to engage Sato Ryuseki directly, there was a risk that in the chaos, Sato could eliminate Vikas and be teleported away by the Main God. Alternatively, as the battle escalated, he might kill Sato Ryuseki but fail to eliminate Vikas before he was taken away, resulting in a complete waste of effort.
Such risks were something Bai Luo had to consider.
He narrowed his eyes slightly.
Seeing Bai Luo's silence, Sato Ryuseki took a step to the side, appearing quite sincere, even saying, "You can return my music box after you kill him."
Bai Luo glanced at him, feeling a slight stir within but saying nothing. Instead, he began to slowly move toward Vikas, who appeared increasingly anxious.
Vikas was in terrible shape; his body was a mess of blood and flesh, covered in dust and blood. The Brilliant Light outfit he had worn was now tattered, and his bald head was caked with grime. As Bai Luo approached him, fear of death filled his eyes. He rasped out, "Are you a Vacationer?"
Bai Luo remained silent. Although he was stepping closer to Vikas, he had an instinct that Sato Ryuseki would definitely make a move.
Thus, while it seemed like he was closing in on Vikas, his true concern lay with Sato Ryuseki standing at a distance.
This guy's individual abilities were no different from those of an ordinary person. Now that he had released Hatsune Miku's fusion state, his strength had not reverted to its original level, which made Bai Luo wary.
Seeing Bai Luo's silence, Vikas fixed his gaze on him for a moment before saying, "I really misjudged you; you're not a character from the story but a Vacationer. How about we make a deal? If you help me kill that Japanese guy, I can find a way to get you out of here. I could even let you become the future leader of our Buddha Light Team."
Bai Luo frowned slightly because he didn't quite understand what this guy was talking about.
After all, the chaotic relationships between the Main God and Reincarnators were difficult for anyone outside the situation to truly comprehend.
Bai Luo exhaled but did not stop his steps; instead, he continued to press toward Vikas.
If his guess was correct and Sato Ryuseki would take action against him, then Bai Luo was certainly prepared. On the other hand, if Sato Ryuseki did not act against him and he could simply take Vikas, that would require no effort at all.
Seeing that Bai Luo was not engaging him in conversation, Vikas's expression changed dramatically. His eyes darted around, clearly searching for any other way to escape his current predicament.
He understood very well that he was already isolated and alone. Bai Luo's appearance only confirmed his fears that Tiger Lee and Paitun had likely fallen at the hands of this elusive Vacationer.
Thinking of this made him feel both angry and terrified.
Behind Bai Luo, Sato Ryuseki's expression was equally grim as he watched the scene unfold. His fists clenched and relaxed within his sleeves, clearly contemplating whether he should hand over Vikas willingly.
The atmosphere in the room had dropped to freezing point; with each step Bai Luo took forward, the tension grew heavier.
Finally, as Bai Luo took another step, Vikas began to raise his arms, trying to shift his body backward. However, Bai Luo did not pursue him; instead, in that moment, he turned around like a flash of lightning.
Because Sato Ryuseki had made his move.
