Liu Bing had no gains, feeling like a deflated balloon. He sensed that some details were missing but couldn't find the corresponding clues. After exploring 904 for about an hour, Liu Bing ultimately gave up. He believed that if the murderer had come to the dormitory to take away important evidence, they would have carefully searched the entire dormitory and not left any opportunity for the police. So he decided to thoroughly interview the relevant individuals to find out what kind of person Luo Qian really was.
The first person arranged for the interview was still the Security guard uncle, but it was clear that he didn't have a strong impression of the situation that day. Guorui patiently helped him recall the scene from that day, while Liu Bing impatiently paced back and forth in the office.
Guorui: "Let's start from the morning of May 13th. When did you come to the company? What was the weather like that day? Take your time, no rush." Guorui understood that at this point, he would instinctively control the direction of the interview, trying to understand the whole story from the uncle. Instead of directly jumping to the topic of the deceased, by maintaining patience and understanding what happened from start to finish, he would discover that the other person had already mentioned the points of interest and would describe them more accurately.
Security guard uncle: "I remember the weather was quite good that day, because I had rested in the dormitory the day before. So, in my memory..."
Liu Bing: rudely interrupted him and asked, "Why did you rest the day before?"
Security guard uncle was startled and hurriedly added, "Because two people take turns on duty, and I was on the night shift the day before, which was May 11th. That day left a deep impression on me. I usually find the night shift boring, so I watched a TV series that lasted all night. It happened to be the finale of a drama about resisting the Japanese. I finished watching it and went back to the dormitory to sleep at around 6 a.m. on May 12th. I slept until around 4 p.m." After finishing his statement, Security guard uncle looked at Guorui, who nodded at him, indicating to continue. "Then, at 6 a.m. on May 13th, I took over the shift. Because fewer people were resting that day, it was basically a normal day."
"Is it gone?" Guorui stopped the pen in his hand.
"It's gone," the security guard uncle shrugged.
"Do you have any impression of this person, Luo Qian?" Guorui picked up the photo in his hand, and the security guard uncle leaned in to observe it carefully.
"Our company has too many employees, so I don't really have much of an impression. But she does look kind of familiar..." Security guard uncle suddenly stopped, shook his head, and began to observe seriously.
Liu Bing also stopped in his tracks, not daring to interrupt Security guard uncle's recollection.
"Oh, I remember now. When I was on my 6 am shift that morning, I had just sat down for a moment and made a cup of tea. It was Pu'er tea, yes, Pu'er tea. I had just finished brewing it when a woman rushed out in a hurry. Could it be her? Around six o'clock."
"Continue. It's her. What was she wearing at the time, was there anything unusual?" Guorui signaled him to continue. But Security guard uncle fell silent, and he picked up the photo again to observe it repeatedly. It seemed like he still wanted to confirm whether the woman that morning was indeed Luo Qian.
"Stop looking and play the surveillance video. See if it's her." Liu Bing couldn't hold back and opened the TV to play the surveillance video they had already edited. In fact, Luo Qian left at 6:40 on May 13th, carrying a shoulder bag and wearing jeans and a light yellow shirt. "Yes, yes. It's her," Security guard uncle exclaimed, jumping up. "It's her, because it felt strange to me that someone would leave so early on a weekend. So I took a few more glances at the time, but didn't think much of it."
"What about when she came back? Was there anything unusual when she returned in the afternoon?" Guorui immediately fast-forwarded the surveillance video to the last clock-in, showing a time of just after 6 p.m. The person in the footage was also wearing jeans and a shirt, but it was clearly different from the way Luo Qian was dressed earlier. The frame looked larger, and the person seemed a bit taller. However, they kept their head down, so their face couldn't be seen clearly. Security guard uncle fell into contemplation again. "Are these two people the same person? Doesn't seem like it, doesn't feel like it."
"Nonsense, the last person to clock in was a man, most likely the one who killed her. He used her finger to clock in and enter your company." Liu Bing seemed to not want to waste any more time, and this information clearly wasn't helpful to them.
"Do you remember what this person looks like? What did he look like? Try to remember?" Guorui clearly hadn't given up, still looking at Security guard uncle and asking.
Security guard uncle shook his head in pain.
Guorui also felt deflated and closed the notebook. "Alright then, if there's anything else that comes to mind later, or if you feel that something is not right, you can contact us. Thank you for your cooperation."
Security guard uncle breathed a sigh of relief upon knowing he could leave, but hesitated as he reached the door. Turning back, he said, "However, there's something that feels a bit strange." He turned to them and said, "Although I don't remember his appearance, what left a deep impression on me was that about an hour before he entered, another man wanted to enter the company. But he wasn't an employee of our company and couldn't clock in. He claimed to be a family member of an employee inside, but I refused him, and he left after being rejected." Liu Bing was also intrigued at this point and asked him, "What did he look like?"
"He was probably in his early thirties, quite thin, like a monkey. He had some stubble on his face, thick eyebrows, high cheekbones, and overall looked refined. He asked me if he could go in. I said no, you're not an employee here, you need to clock in to enter. Then he seemed a bit pleading, saying he needed to go in to help his wife get something. I said no, how can you prove that the employee inside is your family member?"
Security guard uncle swallowed and continued, "After that, he left because he watched the surveillance video and felt that the two of them looked a bit like the same person." Liu Bing lit a cigarette and fell into contemplation, saying that the murderer originally intended to enter the company directly, but after being rejected by the security guard, he came up with the idea of cutting off Luo Qian's finger to use it for access and infiltrate the company. After infiltrating the company, he may have gone to dorm 904 or to other places to take away some very important things. Then he left the company. If that's the case, then the appearance described by Security guard uncle is very likely the physical characteristics of the murderer.
"Guorui, quickly write down the physical characteristics just described," Liu Bing ordered. "Is there anything else?" Liu Bing continued to ask Security guard uncle, this time with a much gentler tone.
Perhaps encouraged by Liu Bing's gaze, Security guard uncle felt that his small clue had finally been affirmed. So he gathered his courage and continued, "At that time, I actually hesitated for a moment, preparing to let him in. So I asked him what his name was and who his family members were."
"Who is it?" Liu Bing and Guorui looked at him in unison, staring at him and asking.
"He didn't say who his family is, but hesitated for a moment and said his own name. Something Hao, Wang something Hao," Security guard uncle muttered to himself quietly.
"Oh, I remember now, he said his name is Wang Wenhao."
Liu Bing He was stunned, as if his heart had been struck violently, and he slumped into the chair with a buzzing sound.
