The hierarchical system here was incredibly strict; those in power enjoyed luxurious lives while those at the bottom suffered like slaves, enduring oppression and exploitation.
What shocked them even more was that humans here oppressed one another, using strength to dominate the weak, far more terrifying than those infected by corpses outside. The darker sides of human nature were magnified here—indifference, selfishness, greed—spreading like a plague.
Leng Fengyang, A Yan, and Luo Shanhe felt as if they had jumped from one abyss into another, their hearts filled with confusion and despair. They wandered through the streets of the Dark Side of the Moon, trying to find a glimmer of hope. Yet each attempt felt like crashing against an invisible wall, preventing them from moving forward.
Just as they were about to give up, a familiar figure entered their line of sight—it was Zhang Wei. Once arrogant and domineering, Zhang Wei was now a shadow of his former self; he had been the president of the Light and Unity Committee and the top enforcer in the Dark Side of the Moon. Now he looked unrecognizable.
His eyes were hollow, his body covered in scars as if he had endured endless torment. When he saw Leng Fengyang and the others, a flicker of surprise crossed his face before being replaced by deep fear.
Under Zhang Wei's guidance, they infiltrated a secret underground laboratory. This was where Li Ming and his team conducted experiments on the Zombie Toxin Vaccine. Zhang Wei told them that ever since he had offended Li Ming last time, he had been turned into a test subject, forced to endure various drug injections daily that severely damaged both his body and mind.
Looking at Zhang Wei before him filled Leng Fengyang with anger and sympathy. He resolved that no matter what it took, he would rescue Zhang Wei from this hellish place.
With the help of Yan and Luo Shanhe, they devised a meticulous plan and successfully infiltrated the core area of the laboratory. However, their movements did not escape Li Ming's keen eyes. Soon, they were pursued by the laboratory guards.
In the fierce battle that ensued, Leng Fengyang and his companions displayed remarkable combat skills and intelligence. They cleverly utilized the terrain and traps to evade their pursuers. During their escape, Zhang Wei revealed to them the dark secrets of the Dark Side of the Moon.
It turned out that this place was not the safe haven it was rumored to be; instead, it was a terrifying hell controlled by a select few in power. They exploited their authority and resources to brutally oppress and exploit the lower classes, even resorting to human experimentation in their quest for a method to counteract Corpse Poison.
Hearing this, Leng Fengyang and his companions were filled with shock and anger. They realized that in order to change this world, they first needed to escape this dark place and continue searching for a way to create the Zombie Toxin Vaccine and Plasma. Only then could they truly save humanity and rejuvenate this dying world.
With Zhang Wei's assistance, they found a secret passage leading out of the Dark Side of the Moon. This passage was hidden within a dense forest, extremely concealed and difficult to detect. They cautiously navigated through the woods, avoiding patrolling guards, until they finally reached the entrance of the passage.
The interior of the passage was dim and damp, filled with unknown dangers. However, Leng Fengyang and his companions did not falter; they supported each other and pressed on bravely. After a long trek, they finally emerged from the passage into the outside world of the Dark Side of the Moon.
Although the outside world was fraught with danger, it felt full of hope and freedom compared to the darkness and oppression of the Dark Side of the Moon. They took a deep breath of fresh air, feeling as if they had been reborn.
Their next goal was to find a way to create the Zombie Toxin Vaccine and Plasma. After extensive inquiries and investigations, they uncovered an important lead: in the distant north, there was a forgotten laboratory that had once conducted research on Plasma. Although this laboratory had been abandoned for many years, it might still contain valuable data or samples.
Thus, Leng Fengyang and his companions set off on their journey northward. They traversed vast wastelands, scaled treacherous mountains, and faced countless hardships along the way. Yet their hearts remained filled with faith and hope because they knew that only by finding that laboratory could they hope to create a true Zombie Toxin Vaccine and save this world.
Finally, at Waterfall Cliff, they discovered the long-forgotten laboratory.
The laboratory door was tightly shut, as if it had long been forgotten. However, the moment they pushed it open, it felt like they had unlocked a treasure trove of hidden secrets.
Inside, the laboratory was in a state of disrepair, yet various equipment and documents were relatively well-preserved. They meticulously searched every corner and found a precious sample of Plasma in a concealed safe.
At that moment, when they held the Plasma sample, excitement and joy filled Leng Fengyang and the others. They knew this sample would be crucial for developing the Zombie Toxin Vaccine.
Just then, a familiar voice echoed from the darkness of the laboratory. A Yan reacted immediately, curious as she called out, "Grandpa, it's me, A Yan."
Old Cabbage Head's voice sounded particularly steady in the dim light as he slowly approached them, his eyes shimmering with complex emotions.
"A Yan, A-Feng, this laboratory is where your parents poured their hearts and souls. They foresaw the potential disaster that Corpse Poison could bring and decided to invest their efforts into vaccine research. Waterfall Cliff was a carefully chosen secret location; it was meant to avoid external interference and provide a safe environment for critical experiments. Unfortunately, just as they were on the brink of a breakthrough, an unforeseen disaster took their lives. But what they left behind was not just this equipment and data; it was an unfinished mission—a legacy of love and responsibility towards the world."
As he spoke, Old Cabbage Head's gaze became exceptionally resolute, as if he could see A Yan's parents' unfulfilled dreams being carried on by Leng Fengyang and his generation of young people.
