Suddenly, a beam of bright light burst forth from behind them, blindingly bright like daylight, casting the shadows of the two men coldly against the wall, exposing them completely.
Li Ming's expression changed drastically, his eyes flickering with undeniable determination. He gritted his teeth and growled, "We must capture him alive! I want him to appear before me unharmed."
At that moment, his anger surged like an erupting volcano, uncontrollable. He never expected that even under the influence of drugs, Leng Fengyang could still escape with his astonishing physical prowess and tenacious willpower while being surrounded by soldiers.
This unexpected turn of events was undoubtedly a severe blow to his confidence, making him realize he had underestimated Leng Fengyang.
Earlier, he had sworn in front of Zhang Wei to ensure the safety of the hostage and the Corpse Poison Vaccine Formula. Now, Li Ming felt a burning shame on his face, as if he had just received a resounding slap.
That sense of unwarranted defeat left him humiliated.
To save face, he knew he had to capture Leng Fengyang alive and would need to increase the dosage of the drugs; he absolutely could not allow Leng Fengyang to have it easy.
Just as Leng Fengyang and Luo Shanhe found themselves in a desperate situation, almost ready to give up on escaping, a deafening roar of engines erupted from the night, like a beast breaking free from its cage, instantly knocking several advancing soldiers off their feet.
"A-Feng! Lao Luo! Get in the car!"
It was A Yan's voice. She had been waiting at the entrance of the Secret Bureau for some time but, not seeing Leng Fengyang and the others, sensed something was wrong and rushed in through the back door of the hospital.
Without needing to say much, Leng Fengyang and Luo Shanhe exchanged a knowing glance. Almost as soon as A Yan finished speaking, they leaped into action like arrows released from a bow, diving into the speeding tank.
After their rescue, A Yan decisively pressed down on the accelerator, and the vehicle erupted with powerful momentum.
With a slight tremor of the chassis, it shot through the crowd that hadn’t yet reacted, leaving behind a chorus of gasps and astonished looks echoing in the air as it barreled straight toward the open doors of the hospital. Behind them lay chaos and bewildered pursuers.
"Everyone chase after them! Chase them down!"
Seeing Leng Fengyang being rescued right before his eyes drove Li Ming into a frenzy. The feeling of unwillingness had nearly driven him mad.
"We can't catch up now, Dr. Li."
Zhang Wei appeared at that moment, his words laced with sarcasm. This only fueled Li Ming's anger further as he exploded, "Chairman Zhang, if you have something to say, just say it! Don't be so cryptic in front of me."
"I told you before; they were impostors. There were no official documents. Now that they've run away, how am I supposed to report back to my superiors?"
Zhang Wei relished in Li Ming's misfortune and deliberately passed the blame back to him as a lesson for not respecting him earlier.
"I'm not panicking; why are you? Don't we still have that list for the Corpse Poison Vaccine Formula?"
Li Ming seemed less concerned about Leng Fengyang's escape because he was more focused on verifying the list provided by Leng Fengyang. As long as the vaccine was developed, whether Leng Fengyang ran or not would hold no value anymore.
"Is that so? From what I understand, that's a fake list; the formula ratios are all fabricated."
Zhang Wei had already learned from Li Ming's team about the verification results—the list had been confirmed as false.
"What?"
At that moment, Li Ming's research assistant revealed the truth, which sent Li Ming into a complete frenzy. He slapped the assistant in front of everyone and shouted, "Useless! Why didn't you say this earlier?"
The assistant covered his face in pain, gritting his teeth in frustration but unable to retort. He could only accept his misfortune. Li Ming took a moment to calm down and said, "I made a mistake; I will explain it to the leadership myself. I don't need you to tell me how to do my job."
Li Ming was focused on scientific research and had little regard for someone like Zhang Wei, who was involved in political work. This attitude had not changed over time; he remained unyielding.
"Li Ming, I think I need to remind you that the Light and Unity Committee is part of the Temporary Government's legislative body. Because of your negligence in losing the Corpse Poison Vaccine Formula, as the committee chair, I have the authority to take you to court."
Zhang Wei, relying on his position, tried to use it to suppress Li Ming. However, Li Ming was unfazed and firmly replied, "Zhang Wei, stop trying to intimidate me. If the Temporary Government wants to develop the Zombie Toxin Vaccine and make a fortune, without me and my team, you're nothing."
"We'll see about that."
"Don't let the door hit you on the way out!"
Despite his special status as a prominent figure in the Temporary Government, Zhang Wei found himself powerless against Li Ming's stubbornness. Defeated, he left with a grim expression.
As he turned to leave, Leng Fengyang's masked figure caught his eye. The familiar silhouette made him pause momentarily, stirring a sense of unease within him.
After Zhang Wei departed, Li Ming immediately turned to his trusted aide and said, "Find a way to track down Leng Fengyang. No matter what methods you use, bring him alive to the Dark Side of the Moon research center. I'll be waiting there; otherwise, don't even think about returning to the Safe Zone."
After escaping the Abandoned Hospital, they finally shook off their pursuers. However, Leng Fengyang and his team remained vigilant because they were about to face not only mutated monsters but also Li Ming's pursuit.
It was time to upgrade their vehicle.
Previously, while opening a mystery box, they had obtained a tank blueprint. Leng Fengyang accessed the System Panel with his mind and saw:

To quickly upgrade the tank, they needed to find these materials as soon as possible. Leng Fengyang had learned some rules during previous uses.
"A-Feng, our firearms have been taken over by those damned guards. This vehicle is probably something they discarded because they didn't want it; it's left not far from the checkpoint. To upgrade our vehicle, we need to find a factory."
Luo Shanhe understood why Leng Fengyang wanted to upgrade their vehicle at this moment—it was clearly in response to the increasingly dire situation ahead. After all, they were surrounded by corpses in front and pursuers behind; without sufficient hardware strength, they had no chance of surviving long enough to reach the Dark Side of the Moon.
"So where do we go now?"
A Yan asked curiously while focusing on driving beside Leng Fengyang in the passenger seat.
"Let's find a place to rest for a bit."
Despite Leng Fengyang's robust physique as a Grave Hunter, he struggled against the lingering side effects of the drug. Yet, the potency had not completely faded. Suddenly, an overwhelming wave of fatigue washed over him, causing him to yawn uncontrollably.
