"It's been a long time, Liu Buqi," Wu Mingyuan said with a cold smile, greed glinting in his eyes. "I didn't expect your parents left behind so many secrets. But now, they all belong to me."
I clenched my fists, rage boiling within me. "Wu Mingyuan, you despicable scoundrel!"
"Hmph, despicable?" Wu Mingyuan scoffed, "In this world where the weak are preyed upon by the strong, only the victors can dominate everything. Don't you losers understand that yet?"
Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed through the air, and the entire basement shook violently, dust cascading down.
"Damn it, they're going to blow this place up!" I shouted, grabbing Fei Wan and rushing towards the exit.
Wu Mingyuan sneered, "Trying to run? It's too late!"
With a thunderous crash, the ceiling collapsed. Instinctively, I shielded Fei Wan beneath me as a massive rock slammed onto my back.
Pain surged through me like electricity, and I gritted my teeth, sweat pouring down. "Fei Wan, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, but you..." Fei Wan's voice trembled with concern in her eyes.
I forced myself to stand up, my gaze fixed fiercely on Wu Mingyuan. "Today, let's settle this once and for all!"
Before I could finish my sentence, Xiao Hui suddenly descended from above, engulfed in blazing red flames, like a ball of burning fury.
Wu Mingyuan's expression changed drastically as he stumbled back in fear. "How... how is this possible?! How could your beast...?"
I let out a cold laugh. "Wu Mingyuan, your doom has arrived!"
Xiao Hui roared and lunged at Wu Mingyuan. At the same time, dozens of beasts surged in from all directions—clearly Wu Mingyuan's reinforcements.
The battle erupted instantly. Fei Wan transformed into a streak of white light, weaving through the enemy ranks and splattering blood wherever she went. Xiao Hui and I stood back to back, fighting fiercely against the onslaught.
"Liu Buqi, do you really think you can defeat us Obsidian Society with this little strength?" Wu Mingyuan laughed maniacally. "What a delusion!"
I gritted my teeth as sweat and blood mixed together. "Even if it costs me every last drop of blood, I will stop your conspiracy!"
The battle intensified; although Xiao Hui's flames were formidable, facing an enemy force several times our number began to take its toll. Its movements grew sluggish as it sustained multiple injuries.
" Xiao Hui, hold on!" I shouted, my heart filled with anxiety.
At that critical moment, an unprecedented surge of heat coursed through my body. I felt as if I had merged with Xiao Hui, the spirit beast contract entering a whole new realm.
"Is this... Crimson Heart?" I whispered in surprise, feeling the overwhelming power within me.
The energy inside me erupted like a volcano; I felt transformed into a blazing inferno. The air around me warped from the intense heat, and the ground began to melt.
"Wu Mingyuan, die!" I roared as I charged at Wu Mingyuan.
Wu Mingyuan's face changed drastically, and he hurriedly retreated. "No... it can't be! How do you possess such power?!"
I threw a punch, and the searing flames instantly engulfed Wu Mingyuan's defenses. He screamed and crashed to the ground, his body charred black.
The surrounding beast army panicked and scattered in all directions. In an instant, only a few of us remained on the battlefield.
The fight was over, but Xiao Hui lay on the ground, barely alive. Its life force was rapidly fading.
" Xiao Hui!" I rushed to its side, my heart aching.
Fei Wan immediately began to administer aid, but Xiao Hui's injuries were too severe. Its gaze grew increasingly vacant.
"I'm sorry, Xiao Hui..." I held it close, tears streaming down my face, filled with guilt. "It's all my fault..."
At that moment, Xiao Hui weakly opened its eyes and used its last bit of strength to lick my hand. Its gaze seemed to say: "Don't be sad; this is my choice."
I grasped Xiao Hui's paw tightly, feeling its fading warmth. Everything around us seemed to freeze; it was just me and Xiao Hui.
"Thank you, Xiao Hui," I choked out. "You are my best partner."
A glimmer of comfort flashed in Xiao Hui's eyes before they slowly closed. Its body began to transform into specks of starlight, dissipating into the air.
I knelt on the ground and howled at the sky. Sadness, anger, and unwillingness—all my emotions erupted at that moment.
Fei Wan gently held me, "Buqi, my condolences. Xiao Hui will always live on in our hearts."
I wiped away my tears and stood up. "You're right, this isn't the time for sorrow." I turned to look at Wu Mingyuan, who lay on the ground, a fire of vengeance burning in my eyes. "We have more important things to do."
Wu Mingyuan struggled to escape, but his entire body was burned and he couldn't move at all.
I walked toward him step by step, each footfall feeling like a march through his nightmares. "Wu Mingyuan, didn't you say that only the victor can dominate everything?" I sneered. "Now, you are the loser."
Wu Mingyuan looked at me in terror. "Please... don't kill me! I can give you money, power, anything you want..."
"Shut up!" I shouted sharply. "Xiao Hui's life, my parents' lives, and all those who were killed by your Obsidian Society... can money buy those?"
I crouched down and stared into Wu Mingyuan's eyes. "Tell me, where is the headquarters of the Obsidian Society?"
Wu Mingyuan gritted his teeth, refusing to speak.
I let out a cold laugh. "It seems you still don't understand your situation." As I spoke, flames ignited in my palm and slowly approached his face.
"I'll tell you! I'll tell you!" Wu Mingyuan finally broke down. "The headquarters of the Obsidian Society is..."
Just then, footsteps echoed from a distance. It seemed reinforcements from the Obsidian Society had arrived.
