I stood in the center of the dilapidated attic, dust slowly drifting down in the moonlight.
"Is this where your parents left their diary?" Fei Wan asked softly, a hint of tension in her voice.
I nodded, my throat tightening. "Yes."
I walked to the corner of the room and lifted a loose floorboard. Beneath it lay a wooden box, containing several yellowed diaries and some old photographs.
With trembling hands, I picked up the first diary and opened the cover. Familiar, elegant handwriting greeted me—it was my mother's.
"The first entry was written on my sixth birthday," I said softly, my voice catching.
Fei Wan moved closer and gently wrapped her arm around my shoulder. "Are you okay?"
I took a deep breath. "I'm fine."
I continued flipping through the pages, an increasing sense of unease settling in my chest. My parents frequently mentioned a creature called the "Eye of Time and Space."
"Eye of Time and Space..." I murmured to myself. "It can manipulate time and space, create illusions, distort reality."
Fei Wan gasped. "That sounds terrifying."
I nodded. "It seems my parents were secretly researching it, trying to establish contact."
Suddenly, my hand stopped on the last page. "Oh my God..." My voice trembled.
"What is it?" Fei Wan asked anxiously.
"They... they discovered Wu Mingyuan's conspiracy," I managed to say. "To stop him, they decided to sacrifice themselves and seal away the Eye of Time and Space."
Tears shimmered in Fei Wan's eyes. "Your parents were true heroes."
I closed the diary, a whirlwind of emotions swirling within me—grief, anger, pride—all intertwining.
"I must complete the mission they left unfinished." I clenched my fists, my voice resolute.
At that moment, I noticed a photograph tucked into the last page of the diary. It depicted an ancient altar, with a strange symbol carved in its center.
"What is this?" I asked, pointing at the symbol.
Fei Wan examined it closely. "It looks like some kind of ancient ritual. Perhaps... perhaps we can use it to connect with the Eye of Time and Space?"
We exchanged a glance, both recognizing the determination reflected in each other's eyes.
Following the instructions from the photograph, we set up a makeshift altar in the attic. Fei Wan lit candles and began to chant incantations.
As the words flowed from her lips, the air began to warp. The symbol on the altar emitted a faint glow.
Suddenly, a vortex appeared in the center of the altar. The blinding light forced me to shut my eyes.
When I opened them again, I was astounded by what lay before me.
We found ourselves in a distorted realm, where bizarre sights continuously shifted around us.
"We... we really entered the illusion of the Eye of Time and Space," Fei Wan's voice trembled slightly.
I saw my parents as they were in their youth, researching the Eye of Time and Space. I also witnessed scenes of Wu Mingyuan's conspiracy as he attempted to harness the power of the Eye to control the world.
Anger burned within me. "I must stop him."
At that moment, a powerful force swept over me.
I turned sharply, seeing a gigantic eye appear in the illusion.
It radiated a dazzling light, as if it intended to swallow everything.
"Eye of Time and Space..." I murmured, my heart racing.
Fei Wan gripped my hand tightly. "What should we do?"
I took a deep breath, forcing myself to calm down.
"I have to communicate with it," I said firmly.
I stepped forward to the Eye of Time and Space, extending my hand. As my hand passed through its form, a strange energy flowed into me.
I felt its emotions—sadness, anger, loneliness.
"I understand your feelings," I thought. "I have lost my parents too. But we cannot let Wu Mingyuan succeed."
The light of the Eye of Time and Space gradually softened. It began to convey information to me.
"You say... you can help me stop Wu Mingyuan?" I asked in astonishment.
The Eye of Time and Space's response made my heart race even faster.
"I need to merge my soul with yours?" I repeated, my voice trembling slightly.
Fei Wan gasped, "That's too dangerous!"
I glanced back at her, determination shining in my eyes. "To stop Wu Mingyuan, to fulfill my parents' unfinished business, I am willing to pay any price."
The light of the Eye of Time and Space enveloped me. I felt my soul merging with it.
An unprecedented power surged within me. I sensed the flow of time and space.
When I opened my eyes, I found myself back in the attic.
Fei Wan looked at me anxiously. "Are you okay?"
I shook my head, a faint smile appearing on my lips. "I'm fine. I've gained the power of the Eye of Time and Space."
Her eyes sparkled with delight. "That's great! Now we can stop Wu Mingyuan."
Just then, a powerful presence suddenly approached.
The wooden beams of the attic creaked ominously, dust swirling in the air.
I turned sharply to see Wu Mingyuan's figure appear in the doorway, a nauseatingly cold smile on his face.
"You can't escape my grasp!" he roared as he lunged toward us.
I stepped in front of Fei Wan, drawing my sword to confront him.
The sword's edge sliced through the air, grazing Wu Mingyuan's sleeve. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes, and then his attacks became even more ferocious.
I relied on my agile movements to evade while searching for a chance to counterattack.
Fei Wan's ability—manipulating vines—snaked around Wu Mingyuan's body like a ghost, briefly binding him.
Seizing the opportunity, I thrust my sword toward his chest, only to be blocked by his protective energy.
"Eye of Time and Space!" I called out, and the surroundings began to warp, illusions springing forth endlessly.
Wu Mingyuan roared, swinging his sword in an attempt to break through the illusion. But his movements grew slower, and he fell into chaos.
Fei Wan and I coordinated seamlessly, finally finding an opening. My sword pierced through his protective energy, its tip pressing against his throat.
A glimmer of despair flashed in Wu Mingyuan's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by a strange smile.
He suddenly produced a black box. "Did you think you had won?" he sneered.
He opened the box to reveal a black orb radiating an evil aura.
"This is the Dark Heart," Wu Mingyuan said with a cold laugh. "It can devour all light."
He tossed the Dark Heart into the air. A powerful force enveloped the entire attic, suppressing my Eye of Time and Space abilities.
We were plunged into crisis.
At that moment, a familiar presence suddenly emerged.
I turned around to see Xiao Hui standing at the attic door, its eyes filled with fury.
It let out a sharp cry and charged at Dark Heart.
Xiao Hui's body radiated a white light, colliding with the black glow of Dark Heart.
The two forces countered each other, ultimately resulting in mutual destruction.
Wu Mingyuan watched in terror, clearly not expecting his strongest weapon to be obliterated by a beast.
I seized the opportunity and landed a heavy punch on Wu Mingyuan's face. He staggered back and finally fell to the ground.
Fei Wan immediately stepped forward, using her powers to seal Wu Mingyuan.
As the dust settled, moonlight poured back into the attic, illuminating our weary yet relieved faces.
"We did it," I whispered, my voice filled with disbelief.
Fei Wan nodded, tears shimmering in her eyes. "Yes, we completed what your parents could not."
Just then, a sudden rush of footsteps echoed from outside the attic.
We turned alertly toward the door.
