He was indeed coming for Xiao Hui.
I clenched my fists, positioning myself protectively in front of Fei Wan and Xiao Hui.
"What do you want?"
My voice was icy, as if it had been tempered with frost.
Wu Mingyuan adjusted his glasses, a cold smirk curling at the corners of his mouth like a snake ready to strike.
"You'll find out soon enough."
Before he finished speaking, several men in black surged out from behind him, surrounding us completely.
The weapons in their hands glinted ominously, and my heart sank.
It seemed today would not end well.
"Fei Wan, keep Xiao Hui safe."
I lowered my voice and spoke quickly.
Fei Wan held Xiao Hui tightly, worry etched across her face, but she nodded resolutely.
I took a deep breath and assumed a defensive stance.
"If you want to take Xiao Hui, you'll have to get through me first!"
I roared and charged forward.
I wasn't a martial arts expert, but the anger and determination to protect Xiao Hui fueled an incredible strength within me.
I fought with fists and feet, knocking several of the men in black to the ground.
However, I soon realized that two fists were no match for four hands, and I began to feel my strength waning.
Just then, Wu Mingyuan made his move.
His speed was astonishing, leaving me no time to react.
His fist slammed into my chest, making it hard for me to breathe.
I staggered backward, blood seeping from the corner of my mouth.
Wu Mingyuan let out a cold laugh and charged at me again.
I gritted my teeth, enduring the pain as I swung my fist in retaliation.
But my attack was child's play to him.
He easily dodged my strike and delivered a kick to my abdomen.
The intense pain brought me crashing to the ground, unable to rise again.
Wu Mingyuan stood over me, his gaze filled with contempt.
"You're overestimating yourself."
He waved his hand, signaling the men in black to bind me.
I struggled desperately, but it was futile.
Before long, I was tied up tightly.
Wu Mingyuan looked down at me from above, mockery evident in his eyes.
"Did you think you could stop me?"
"In this world, power is the only truth."
"And you are nothing but a weakling."
Each of his words pierced through my pride like a sharp knife.
I glared at him in anger, my heart filled with resentment.
But he was right; in this world where the weak are preyed upon by the strong, I was indeed a weakling at this moment.
Wu Mingyuan turned around to face Fei Wan and Xiao Hui.
"Now, it's your turn."
His smile was cruel, like that of a bloodthirsty beast.
Fei Wan clutched Xiao Hui in fear, and Xiao Hui let out a low growl, its body trembling slightly.
Wu Mingyuan approached step by step, his greed unmistakable in his eyes.
Suddenly, Xiao Hui emitted a sharp cry.
Its body erupted with dazzling light, illuminating the entire factory.
Wu Mingyuan froze, clearly taken aback by this scene.
The light grew stronger and stronger, filling me with confusion and shock.
What was happening to Xiao Hui?
After a few seconds, the brilliance abruptly vanished.
The factory was plunged back into darkness.
I struggled to open my eyes but could see nothing.
Before me was pitch black, as if I had lost my vision.
"What is happening?"
Fear and confusion surged over me like a tidal wave.
I wanted to stand up, but I found my body completely immobilized.
I was bound by some unseen force.
"Fei Wan! Xiao Hui!"
I shouted loudly, but there was no response.
My voice echoed in the darkness, sounding particularly powerless.
Despair engulfed me like an abyss.
Was I really going to die here?
Just then, a warm energy surged into my body.
This force brought me comfort and reassurance.
My consciousness began to blur, as if I were returning to my mother's embrace.
Before I lost awareness completely, I seemed to hear a gentle voice.
"Child, do not be afraid; we will always protect you."
The voice felt as if it came from heaven, filling me with an overwhelming sense of peace.
Then, I fell into complete darkness.
