The Skeletal War Elephant staggered under the blows of Master Han's Flame Whip, its bones and decaying flesh sizzling in the intense heat. A flicker of urgency and determination flashed in Master Han's eyes; he understood that these Skeletal War Elephants were summoned by a Demon Clan Sorcerer and protected by dark spells. If they could eliminate the summoner, the War Elephants would pose no threat.
"Quick!" Master Han shouted to the battlefield commander, "Find the Demon Clan Sorcerer! He should be nearby! Get the snipers to take him out!"
The commander reacted swiftly, grabbing the communicator and issuing a loud command: "All snipers, pay attention! Search the surrounding area for the Demon Clan Sorcerer and eliminate him! Move out immediately!"
The snipers sprang into action, using the battlefield's cover to carefully search their surroundings. Master Han continued to wield his Flame Whip, striking at the Skeletal War Elephants to delay their assault and buy time for the snipers.
"Concentrate fire on the Demon Soldiers!" the commander continued to issue orders, and the soldiers responded in unison as bullets rained down on the Demon Soldiers, attempting to suppress their advance.
Several snipers quickly found elevated vantage points, setting up their rifles and meticulously scanning every corner of the battlefield. Finally, one sniper spotted a figure cloaked in black, holding a staff, hidden in a shadowy nook. The Demon Clan Sorcerer was waving his staff while chanting ancient incantations to control the Skeletal War Elephants.
"Target confirmed, preparing to shoot!" the sniper reported calmly, his finger poised on the trigger.
"Shoot!" The commander commanded decisively.
The sniper steadied his aim, held his breath for a moment, then pulled the trigger. A sharp crack echoed as the bullet sliced through the air, striking the Demon Clan Sorcerer squarely in the head. The sorcerer let out a piercing scream as his staff fell from his grasp, and his body collapsed.
"The Demon Clan Sorcerer has been killed!" the sniper reported coolly, a hint of victorious joy in his voice.
With the sorcerer's death, the movements of the Skeletal War Elephants began to slow. The ghostly flames in their eyes gradually extinguished as their bodies swayed before finally collapsing into heaps of lifeless bones.
"Well done! Keep suppressing the enemy!" The commander encouraged loudly, boosting the soldiers' morale as they intensified their fire against the Demon Soldiers.
Master Han looked at the fallen Skeletal War Elephants and breathed a sigh of relief, but he knew that this battle was far from over. The demon forces remained strong; countless Demon Soldiers and monsters were surging toward the city walls. They had to continue fighting to protect this land.
"Everyone, prepare for the next wave of attack!" Master Han reminded loudly as flames reignited on his Flame Whip.
After about ten minutes of intense combat, the number of invading demons began to dwindle. Master Han and his soldiers fought on while noticing that this was drastically different from their previous observations. Clearly, this wave of demon attacks was merely a test to gauge how much strength remained in the human defenders.
As the last Demon Soldier fell amidst gunfire, a brief silence enveloped the battlefield. The entrance to the city was littered with bodies, flames, and debris; blood flowed like rivers. The soldiers gasped for breath, faces smeared with sweat and dirt yet still shining with indomitable spirit.
Standing high above, Master Han held his burning Flame Whip aloft and took a deep breath to steady himself. He knew this was just the beginning; true challenges lay ahead.
"Commander!" Master Han shouted loudly, his voice echoing through the air.
The Commander reacted swiftly, running up to Master Han, his face weary yet resolute.
"Immediately conduct a count and confirm our losses," Master Han said, panting. "Prepare for the next wave of defense; the true assault from the demon race could come at any moment."
"Yes, Master!" The Commander stood at attention and then turned to the soldiers, commanding loudly, "Everyone, begin counting casualties, quickly replenish ammunition, and prepare to face the next wave of attacks!"
The soldiers sprang into action, tallying their fallen comrades and equipment on the battlefield. The injured were swiftly transported to the Temporary Medical Station in the rear, where medical personnel busily performed first aid, trying to save every life. The soldiers supported each other as they quickly restocked ammunition and supplies, ready to face battle once more.
Master Han watched all of this unfold, feeling both heavy-hearted and hopeful. He knew that these soldiers were protecting their homeland with their lives and sweat. No matter how difficult it became, they would not retreat.
"We must hold on; we cannot let the demon race invade," Master Han murmured to himself, his eyes filled with determination.
Standing high above, Master Han looked down at the surrounding soldiers and Cultivators as they supported and encouraged one another. This scene moved him deeply. He saw the soldiers and Cultivators maintaining their steadfast belief and fearless courage amidst the chaos of war, filling him with respect.
At that moment, a figure hurriedly approached. Master Han turned to see Xiao Feng rushing over. Xiao Feng was an Earth Cultivator; although his cultivation level was not particularly high, he was upright and well-liked by others.
"Master Han!" Xiao Feng spoke urgently, his face filled with anxiety and guilt. "I am Xiao Feng. I apologize for not greeting you earlier due to the urgent situation!"
Master Han smiled gently and patted Xiao Feng's shoulder, speaking in a warm tone. "Xiao Feng, my friend, there's no need for formalities. In times like this, we are all fighting to protect our homeland; we need not be bound by conventions. You have done well; it is admirable that you can remain upright and courageous in such dire circumstances."
Hearing Master Han's words touched Xiao Feng deeply; he lowered his head slightly and said, "Thank you for your understanding, Master Han. Seeing the demon race's assault earlier filled me with worry, but now that I see everyone united like this, I believe we can defend this land."
Master Han nodded as he looked at the surrounding soldiers and Cultivators. He sighed and said, "Yes, as long as we stand together, there is no difficulty that can defeat us. This land is our home; we must protect it with our lives and sweat."
Xiao Feng took a deep breath and said firmly, "Master Han, we Cultivators will do our utmost to assist you and the soldiers in guarding this land."
"Very good," Master Han nodded in satisfaction. "We will fight together; no matter how difficult the battles ahead may be, we cannot retreat. We will fight with our lives and sweat for the future."
Xiao Feng and Master Han exchanged a glance, both their eyes shining with determination.
Master Han retrieved several talismans from his wide sleeves and solemnly handed them to Xiao Feng. These talismans glimmered faintly with spiritual light; the intricate runes drawn on them displayed their extraordinary nature.
"Xiao Feng," Master Han said earnestly, "these talismans are Spirit Energy Talismans, refined from plants known as healing grass that can absorb Spiritual Energy. The healing grass naturally absorbs Spiritual Energy from heaven and earth; through our special techniques, we seal this Spiritual Energy within the talismans."
Xiao Feng took the talismans carefully and examined them closely, feeling the Spiritual Energy contained within. He looked up at Master Han with gratitude and admiration in his eyes.
“Master Han, these talismans are truly precious,” Xiao Feng said. “We Cultivators need this Spiritual Energy for replenishment. Thank you.”
Master Han nodded slightly and continued, “You will distribute these talismans for the Cultivators to use. Once they use these talismans, they can replenish their Spiritual Energy, allowing them to fight longer and stronger.”
“Understood, Master Han. I will distribute them immediately,” Xiao Feng replied, turning to leave.
“Wait,” Master Han called out to him. “Tell the Cultivators that this battle concerns our future. Everyone must give their all. We have no retreat; we must defend this land to protect our home.”
Xiao Feng took a deep breath, determination shining in his eyes. “Master Han, I will convey your words to everyone. We will do our utmost to protect this land.”
Master Han smiled faintly and patted Xiao Feng on the shoulder. “Go now; may heaven bless us.”
Xiao Feng nodded and quickly ran towards the location of the Cultivators. His heart was filled with resolve as he understood the importance of this battle. Holding the Spirit Energy Talismans, he felt a tremendous power surging within him.
Soon, the Cultivators gathered around Xiao Feng as he distributed the Spirit Energy Talismans and relayed Master Han's instructions. The Cultivators received the talismans with gratitude and determination in their eyes. They understood that these Spirit Energy Talismans were crucial for replenishing their Spiritual Energy in the upcoming battle.
“Everyone, we must give our all to protect this land,” Xiao Feng said passionately. “This is our home; we have no retreat.”
The Cultivators responded in unison, their eyes shining with resolve. As they used the Spirit Energy Talismans, they felt the return of their Spiritual Energy, invigorating their spirits.
Master Han stood high above, watching it all unfold with hope in his heart. He knew that although this battle would be difficult, as long as everyone united, they could defend this land and welcome the dawn of victory.
