Li Lin suddenly awoke from a light sleep, cold sweat soaking his back.
Xiao Xing squirmed anxiously in his arms, letting out a low whimper.
"What’s wrong?" Liya asked, sitting up alertly, her voice tinged with tension.
Li Lin shook his head. "I don’t know, but Xiao Xing seems to sense something."
He stood up and cautiously approached the entrance of the Bunker.
Liya followed closely behind him. "What do you think it could be?"
"Let’s hope it’s just a false alarm," Li Lin replied quietly, but his muscles were already tense, ready to respond to any sudden situation.
They carefully opened the door of the Bunker, and a cold night breeze rushed in.
Li Lin squinted, scanning the surroundings intently.
Suddenly, he noticed some faint traces on the ground.
"Someone has been here." He crouched down to examine the footprints that had been deliberately covered.
Liya gasped. "You mean someone has been watching us?"
Li Lin nodded. "And they were very cautious. If it weren't for Xiao Xing's warning, we might not have noticed at all."
"What should we do?" Liya asked nervously.
Li Lin stood up. "Let’s head back into the Bunker; we need to come up with a plan."
Once back inside the Bunker, Li Lin began to meticulously check every corner.
He discovered some signs of life that did not belong to them in a corner of the wall.
"It seems the other party has been lurking here for a while," Li Lin frowned.
Liya hugged Xiao Xing tightly. "What do you think they want?"
"It's likely aimed at Xiao Xing," Li Lin's voice carried a hint of anger.
At that moment, a member of the Wasteland Watchers Squad rushed in.
"Captain Li, we've spotted unidentified figures moving in the distance, and there are quite a few of them."
Li Lin's expression grew more serious. "It seems they can no longer hold back."
He quickly thought through the situation. "Liya, take Xiao Xing and the others and retreat first. I'll draw them away."
Liya grasped Li Lin's hand. "No, we can't leave you behind."
Looking into Liya's determined eyes, Li Lin suddenly realized she was no longer the girl who needed protection.
"Alright, then we'll act together," he finally conceded.
Li Lin began to lay out a detailed plan. "We need to use the terrain to our advantage and set traps."
He pointed to several key locations on the map. "Ambush here, here, and here. Once we spot the enemy, report immediately."
The squad members sprang into action, each knowing their task.
Li Lin tightened his grip on his weapon. "Remember, our goal is to protect Xiao Xing and each other's safety."
Liya nodded, "We will succeed."
At that moment, Xiao Xing suddenly let out a sharp cry.
Everyone became alert, and Li Lin signaled for silence.
In the distance, a faint sound of footsteps could be heard, gradually getting closer.
Li Lin took a deep breath, "Prepare for battle."
He glanced at Liya and Xiao Xing, a strong urge to protect them swelling in his heart.
"No matter what happens, I will protect you," Li Lin silently vowed.
The footsteps grew louder, and Li Lin felt his heartbeat quickening.
He knew that the upcoming battle would determine their fate.
Li Lin gripped his weapon tightly, his gaze fixed intently on the entrance of the Bunker.
What they were about to face might be the greatest threat since the Nuclear War.
