Li Lin moved stealthily through the ruins, each step taken with utmost caution. The air was thick with dust and the stench of decay. He gripped a rusty dagger tightly, scanning his surroundings with vigilance.
Suddenly, a rustling sound came from his right. Li Lin held his breath, muscles tensed.
A massive Mutated Sand Scorpion lunged out from the debris, its sharp pincers striking towards him.
Li Lin quickly dodged, the dagger scraping against the Scorpion's shell. The harsh sound of metal grinding against chitin pierced the air.
The Sand Scorpion wildly swung its tail, venom splattering everywhere. Li Lin gritted his teeth, weaving left and right. His breath quickened, sweat blurring his vision.
"Damn it, this beast is even fiercer than the last one!" Li Lin cursed under his breath, rapidly calculating his next move.
The Sand Scorpion attacked again; Li Lin rolled away just in time to avoid a fatal strike. However, its tail still grazed his right arm, blood streaming down.
The sharp pain made Li Lin gasp. He fought through the agony, a glimmer of determination flashing in his eyes.
In a sudden burst of resolve, Li Lin charged at the Sand Scorpion, slipping beneath its belly in a split second. The Scorpion was caught off guard and thrashed wildly in an attempt to shake him off.
Seizing the opportunity, Li Lin plunged the dagger into the vulnerable spot on the Scorpion's abdomen with all his strength. Black blood gushed forth, splattering him completely.
The Sand Scorpion let out a piercing shriek and thrashed in desperation. Li Lin gritted his teeth, holding onto the dagger with all his might.
Eventually, the Scorpion's movements grew weaker until it collapsed to the ground, motionless.
Li Lin collapsed onto the ground, utterly exhausted, gasping for breath. Blood flowed incessantly from his right arm, and the wound had begun to darken.
"The poison is stronger than I imagined... I need to find an antidote quickly..." Li Lin struggled to stand, staggering toward the shelter.
Just then, a faint whimper reached his ears.
Li Lin turned alertly, scanning for the source of the sound. Behind a pile of rubble, he spotted a small blue creature.
It was an injured Little Beast, covered in blue feathers and resembling some kind of bird. Its wings hung limply on the ground, emitting a low, painful whine.
Li Lin hesitated. Saving this Little Beast would mean delaying treatment for his own wounds. But looking into its eyes filled with fear softened his heart.
"Forget it, I'm not going to last much longer anyway." He forced a bitter smile at his own predicament and carefully bent down to pick up the Little Beast.
With great difficulty, Li Lin returned to the basement shelter and placed the Little Beast on a rickety bed. He rummaged through the few remaining supplies and injected himself with an antidote serum.
"I hope it's not too late..." Li Lin gritted his teeth against the pain of the spreading poison as he began to tend to the Little Beast's wounds.
At that moment, a strange blue light suddenly emanated from the Little Beast. Li Lin stared in astonishment as the blue glow enveloped his wound, a warm energy coursing through his body.
He watched in disbelief as his injury healed at a visible rate, the poison rapidly dissipating.
"What... what ability is this?" Li Lin exclaimed in shock as the Little Beast gently nuzzled his hand.
Suddenly, a metallic object fell from Little Beast. Li Lin picked it up and discovered it was a metal plaque engraved with intricate symbols.
"This symbol... seems to be some kind of ancient script?" Li Lin furrowed his brow in thought, sensing that he had stumbled upon a significant secret.
At that moment, a commotion erupted in the distance. Li Lin stood up alertly, gripping his dagger tightly.
"It seems we have uninvited guests," he glanced at Little Beast beside him, determination flashing in his eyes. "No matter what you are, I will protect you."
