Mao Deming, despite having no blood relation to Liang Chao and his brother, felt a deep despair over the strange cancer that plagued his family. He placed the hope of his family's continuation on the Liang brothers. 0

Although Mao Deming did not attend Liang Chao's wedding, he transferred a substantial amount of money to Liang Chao's bank account. To his surprise, Liang Chao truly fell in love with a rather plain and clumsy girl. This disappointed him somewhat, and he ultimately had to give up on Liang Chao, shifting his hopes to Liang Bo instead. 0

When the news of Liang Chao's death reached him, Mao Deming gritted his teeth in rage, vowing to take revenge on Sun Meng and others. He had no desire to deal with that lively pair, his sister and brother-in-law. Liang Bo relied on his uncle's lavish lifestyle and showed little interest in their parents. The reason Ziya and the others were unaware of Liang Chao's younger brother was that they had deliberately concealed this information to facilitate their future revenge. 0

As Liang Bo entered the room, he informed his uncle that Li Mao had arrived. They both stepped back to stand behind their wealthy uncle, who was unmarried and childless. Mao Deming was the heir to this family, a promise made by his uncle himself. 0

“Teacher Mao, I have a pimple on my nose! Can you take a look?” Li Mao said in a tone that was neither friendly nor unfriendly. 0

“It’s nothing. I’ll give you some medicine; it will be fine,” Mao Deming replied coldly. He then looked up at Liang Bo standing behind him and instructed, “Bo'er, go outside and see if there are any patients waiting. Help me block them for now; I need to check on Mr. Li.” 0

“Okay, Uncle,” Liang Bo said as he stepped outside and closed the door. The inner room served as a resting area for Mao Deming, while the outer part was the clinic where he treated patients. Inside the clinic, there was a curtain separating the area used for infusions or physical examinations; most of the time it was used for check-ups rather than infusions. 0

“Speak! What’s your main purpose for coming here?” Mao Deming said as he tapped his shiny bald head with his hand, revealing patches where hair had naturally fallen out and several inconspicuous lipomas on his cheeks. “What are you staring at? What’s so interesting?” He glared at Li Mao, who couldn’t hide his gaze from the visible lymphoma on Mao Deming’s face, feeling irritated as he scratched his head. 0

“Uh, Brother Mao, I… really…” Li Mao stammered. 0

“Have you run out of the money I gave you last time?” Mao Deming asked, forcing himself to calm down despite his anger. 0

“I’ve used it all up; well, prices keep rising,” Li Mao replied casually while picking his nose. 0

“Get lost! Do you think I’m an ATM? You think it’s easy money? That’s what I’ve worked hard to save!” Mao Deming glared at this greedy fellow, a notorious troublemaker with a long history of misdeeds. If it weren’t for wanting to use him for something, he wouldn’t have gone through all the trouble to get him out with money and connections. 0

"Brother Mao, someone is inquiring about the Dead Baby incident. I promise I won't spill anything, alright? I'm leaving now." Li Mao's words were a mix of soft persuasion and firm resolve. After finishing his sentence, he quietly counted his steps to the door, estimating that after four steps, the other party would surely call him back. One, two, three... Sure enough, just after three steps, Mao Deming called out. 0

"Stop." 0

"Does Brother Mao have more instructions?" Li Mao's eyes darted around greedily as he put on a humble facade, pretending to be subservient. 0

"Here’s fifty thousand. Take it and use it. We'll talk later; tonight you need to help me with something," Mao Deming said, signing a check and handing it to Li Mao. 0

Li Mao eagerly accepted the check, repeatedly agreeing as he rushed out to get the money. Liang Bo then entered. 0

"Uncle, you can't keep giving him money like this! If you calculate it all up, we've already given him over a hundred thousand. Why not just get rid of him..." 0

"You don't understand anything. This guy is a rat; you can't just get rid of him on a whim!" Mao Deming snapped angrily. He then squinted his eyes and added, "He's just a pawn; we use him while we can. Once he's no longer useful, we'll deal with it. The operation starts tonight; you didn't mess up the name, did you?" 0

"No." 0

"Good." 0

Due to the sudden drop in temperature and frequent fog, many people were experiencing similar symptoms—no fever, just colds and coughs. Yang Xianju finished her work and arrived at the hospital, but upon seeing the long line, she felt very anxious. 0

"Are you here for treatment?" A beautiful young nurse appeared in front of her. 0

"Yes! Can you help me see a doctor without an appointment?" Yang Xianju quickly replied, hoping to save time in line since she recognized the nurse's role. 0

"Sure, I can take you to a place," the nurse readily agreed. 0

"Great!" Yang Xianju thought to herself how lucky she was to have encountered such a kind nurse right after arriving. 0

The nurse led Yang Xianju through winding paths until they reached a two-story building. Before her stood a clinic with a three-panel door, and a large sign outside read, 'Mao Deming Clinic.' 0

"Wow! So the famous Teacher Mao has opened a clinic at home," Yang Xianju said with a cheerful smile. She turned to the nurse and expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you so much." 0

"No need to thank me; he is my teacher, so it’s only natural for me to bring you here," the nurse replied, nodding at Mao Deming before turning to leave. 0

"Hello, Teacher Mao. I have a cough, my throat feels dry, and I can't seem to expel the phlegm," Yang Xianju continuously described her symptoms while Mao Deming appeared deep in thought. 0

"You have a viral cold; it seems that prolonged coughing may have already caused some damage to your lungs. Come with me to the examination room so I can take a closer look at your lung condition," Mao Deming said kindly, his warm demeanor making Yang Xianju feel at ease. 0

In the examination room, Liang Bo was ready for his first target. As soon as he heard their footsteps approaching, he hurriedly slipped into the bedroom to hide. 0

Following Mao Deming's instructions, Yang Xianju obediently lay down on the single bed. She watched as he took out a clean white cloth about the size of a mask and approached her head. He began by gently massaging her abdomen before moving the cloth over her mouth and nose. Yang Xianju felt a sharp medicinal smell invade her nasal passages, causing her vision to blur… 0

In Mao Deming's basement, various medical instruments were available, showcasing his skills that ranked among the best in his field. However, how he operated them remained somewhat unclear to me. 0

As for that nurse, to put it bluntly, she was one of Mao Deming's students—essentially his lover. Like everyone else, he had desires and emotions. However, he had set an unspoken rule for himself: to remain lovers without marrying. Due to personal issues, he felt compelled to consider his own legacy. In Mao Deming's eyes, women were fickle creatures incapable of loyalty in love; perhaps after his death, she would marry another man and take his wealth with her. 0
