Arriving at the third floor of Sun Meng's home, Ziya felt an inexplicable sense of anxiety wash over her. Whether it was her own sensitivity or something else, she couldn't tell. Zhiqing pressed the doorbell, but there seemed to be no response, so she knocked again. 0

"Do you think they went out to celebrate? Maybe we came at the wrong time?" Ziya suddenly felt a strong urge to leave immediately. 0

"Wait, listen..." Zhiqing pressed her ear against the door and raised a finger to signal Ziya to be quiet. 0

Zhiqing heard faint rustling sounds from inside, and Ziya nodded in agreement, thinking to herself that if this door were a security door, they wouldn't have heard anything. This type of poorly soundproofed wooden door was usually made from compressed sawdust, unknowingly recycled and processed into a product before being sold to customers. 0

Both Ziya and Zhiqing were focused on the door, speculating whether it would be Liang Chao or Sun Meng who would open it. The door creaked open with a slight clatter of the lock, revealing a disheveled figure with a pale face and vacant eyes standing before them. 0

Is this Sun Meng? Ziya stared in confusion, her heart sinking from joy to despair in an instant. Zhiqing looked equally shocked at the person who had opened the door. 0

"Sun Meng, is that you?" Ziya called out tremulously to the dazed figure at the door, who offered no words in return. Zhiqing held up the birthday cake in front of Sun Meng, shaking it slightly to see if she would react. 0

"What are you two doing here?" Sun Meng spoke as if to herself, or perhaps addressing both Ziya and Zhiqing. She shot them a cold glance before turning back inside and slamming the door shut. 0

"What... what does she mean by that?" Zhiqing felt utterly bewildered. Did they come too impulsively? Or was Liang Chao home and they were simply unwelcome? 0

"No, something feels off. Did you not see her pupils..." Ziya shivered at the memory of Sun Meng's unsettling gaze. It was only when Sun Meng closed the door that she snapped out of her shock. 0

"I didn't notice her pupils; I just thought her behavior was too strange," Zhiqing replied, feeling an inexplicable chill emanating from where the door had been opened. As she spoke, she shivered unexpectedly. It was summer; how could it feel so cold? The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became. She grabbed Ziya's arm and headed downstairs without wanting to linger for another moment. 0

"Sun Meng is definitely not okay; we need to figure something out." Once they reached downstairs, they finally exhaled in relief. Zhiqing tossed the birthday cake into a nearby trash bin and let out a deep breath, speaking anxiously. 0

"She has a problem; is she possessed by something?" Ziya was pulled down the stairs without any explanation, feeling a wave of fear wash over her. However, Sun Meng had always been fascinated by those dark things since childhood, so it wasn't surprising. But Liang Chao's behavior had become utterly shameless, and everything had started to change since they moved into this house. 0

"It's hard to explain right now. Let's contact Liang Chao and see what he thinks. You should call him and check if he's home," Zhiya suggested. 0

"Uh, I'll do that now," Ziya replied, glancing at Sun Meng's apartment window by the entrance, which was dark and empty, as if no one were home at all. 0

After dialing Liang Chao's number, a standard Mandarin voice message came through: 'The number you have dialed is turned off.' Ziya helplessly shook her head at Zhiqing and put her phone back in her bag. The two of them had no choice but to sit in the car and discuss their next steps. 0

"Should we call the police?" Ziya thought about Sun Meng's condition and Liang Chao's phone being off; all these phenomena felt incredibly strange. What was happening to them? She had tried to find YaYa but came up empty-handed. Even Severe Cold, who had nothing to do with this matter, seemed to have evaporated from existence; she couldn't reach him by phone either. 0

"Reporting false information to the police can lead to legal consequences. We should be cautious! Let's see if there are other options," Zhiqing leaned back against the soft car seat, resting his chin on his hand as he stared into space for a long time. 0

"How about we investigate the previous owners of the house? Let's find out why they sold it at such a low price," Ziya suggested from the passenger seat after deep contemplation. She noticed Zhiqing frowning deeply and quietly spoke up. 0

"Good idea! You truly are talented," Zhiqing said, patting his own head with a smile that lit up his sharply defined face. Looking closely at Ziya, he genuinely wanted to... but his hand involuntarily reached out and lightly touched hers. It felt like an electric shock; both Ziya and he quickly withdrew their hands. 0

"Ahem, what did the class monitor say? Talented? That's an old story; no need to bring it up," Ziya coughed lightly to break the awkward atmosphere between them. 0

"Oh, um, Ziya... that was unintentional. My hand just went for the clutch..." Zhiqing's face turned red as he stammered, trying to explain what had just happened. 0

"What? Let's go! Some things really can't be explained; you know that," Ziya said, sounding somewhat comforting but also hinting that his explanation was clumsy and ineffective. 0

The two drove to the agency that Sun Meng mentioned only to find the roll-up door tightly closed. It seemed they had already closed for the day; they would have to wait until tomorrow. 0

Severe Cold asked YaYa to help inquire about Ziya. It was the rule to take money and help others with their troubles, and YaYa understood that well. With a handful of cash, she hurried off to find out about Ziya. However, after walking for a while, she found herself in a dilemma. Ziya was someone she had no connection with; they had only met once at the clinic, and long ago, Master's Wife had done some hypnosis on her to understand her current situation. 0

YaYa's fingers brushed against the bills as she racked her brain for ideas. After much contemplation, she finally decided to muster up her courage and seek out someone for help. 0

Severe Cold had left YaYa his number, intending to gather information about Ziya from Liang Chao. However, it seemed that Liang Chao was on guard for some reason, and they weren't familiar with each other. Whenever Ziya was mentioned, Liang Chao would skillfully divert the conversation elsewhere, mostly bragging about how he charmed women, conquered them in bed, and made them willingly spend money on him. 0

Severe Cold hadn't been in the café long when he received a call from a comrade. This comrade was no ordinary person; he was a major shareholder of the Textile Factory in City A. The factory was located in a relatively remote mountainous area and was said to be quite expansive. This comrade was sharp-minded and had managed to consolidate all labor protection matters under his control after taking over the factory. He established a one-stop service in City A that included Textile Factory—labor protection—marketing—delivery—sales. 0

When Severe Cold met his comrade, they exchanged warm embraces and pleasantries before the comrade suddenly entrusted him with a task. This request took Severe Cold by surprise, prompting him to ask his comrade to elaborate further. 0
