Ziya retreated hurriedly under the threat of the cats and dogs, backing up to the staircase. Severe Cold was shouting loudly on the phone, but she heard not a word. Ziya looked at the little creatures, silently vowing never to like cats and dogs again. After a moment of confusion, with several bite marks on her pant legs from Shuangshuang, Ziya couldn't understand how these usually adorable pets could go so crazy. 0

Suddenly, the front door swung open with a clatter of keys. Sun Meng pushed the door open just in time to see Ziya in a disheveled state. Ziya was so flustered that she didn't know what to do; she pointed at the two lively little creatures beside her, speechless. 0

"Little Catfish... Momo... Shuangshuang... Momo..." Sun Meng called out loudly as she entered. Oddly enough, the cats and dogs that had been attacking Ziya immediately abandoned her at the sound of Sun Meng's voice, wagging their tails and rushing over to rub against her, seeking affection. 0

However, as soon as Ziya tried to move even slightly closer to Sun Meng, the dog and cat would bare their teeth and glare at her. Wiping the sweat from her forehead, Ziya said, "I can't handle these two little troublemakers! I'm exhausted!" After saying this, she plopped down onto the sofa, finally feeling genuinely tired. 0

"Ha! You must be hungry! I knew you had upset them. I bought you some char siu buns; eat them while they're hot," Sun Meng said as she settled the two little creatures down. The cat was cradled in her arms while the dog lay obediently at her feet. 0

At that moment, Ziya truly envied Sun Meng. A surge of desire welled up inside her; she wanted to gradually get familiar with these two little ones so that they could be as tame for her as they were for Sun Meng. She tentatively tried to approach Shuangshuang, but that little creature seemed resolute in its stance—upon seeing Ziya move even slightly, it raised its nose and bared its teeth, letting out a low warning growl. 0

"What’s going on?" Ziya said in disbelief, shoving a bun into her mouth and nearly choking as she stretched her neck to pat her chest. 0

"Look closely; they’re quite well-behaved! Did you perhaps hit them? Are they holding a grudge against you?" Sun Meng said while stroking the cat's fur. The once ferocious Black Cat was now comfortably enjoying Sun Meng's affection. 0

Ziya felt utterly wronged but didn’t want to keep explaining herself to Sun Meng. She suddenly remembered Severe Cold's call and quickly checked her phone only to find that the call had already ended. 0

"Who called you?" Sun Meng asked hurriedly when she saw Ziya looking at her phone. She gently set the cat down and got up to pour water for Ziya. 0

Ziya put her phone back in her pocket. "Severe Cold called." Then she picked up the last bun and began chewing slowly; she was just too hungry. Sun Meng handed her a glass of water and sat back down next to the cat. 0

"Severe Cold? What... did he say?" 0

"I didn't... I didn't hear what he said clearly. Wasn't I just playing rough with the cat?" Ziya took a sip of water and pulled out a tissue from the tea table to wipe the grease off her hands. Suddenly, she remembered the strange incident with the fridge. "By the way, the food in the fridge disappeared overnight. I just had a bit of cake..." As Ziya spoke, she noticed Sun Meng's eyebrows raise, looking somewhat displeased, so she hurriedly stopped. 0

Sun Meng pushed the cat off her lap and walked over to the fridge, opening the door. "Ziya, darling, you didn't throw away all the food inside, did you? Ms. Tan is very frugal; you shouldn't..." 0

"The problem is, I didn't throw anything away! When I woke up this morning, everything was gone." 0

"Alright! If it's gone, it's gone. If you threw it away, then just admit it! I wasn't blaming you or anything. I just passed by the supermarket and saw they were having a sale, so I bought some things. I need to head to the hospital soon; you can take care of things here." 0

"Uh..." Ziya hesitated, still not voicing what was on her mind. 0

Sun Meng noticed Ziya's fingers. "Does your finger still hurt? How are you typing? Don't mess around with Shuangshuang; it might get annoyed..." Ziya couldn't understand why Sun Meng was acting this way. It felt like she was being blamed for everything without any context—like getting scratched by a cat or bitten by a dog was somehow her fault. She thought about it but felt no real grievance; how could she possibly stoop to that level? 0

"You should go to the hospital for a vaccination shot; this isn't a joke. I'm taking you right now," Sun Meng said as she stood up and gestured for Ziya to follow her. 0

"Forget it; I'm fine. I washed the wound with soap; there's no redness or swelling, and it doesn't hurt anymore," Ziya stubbornly refused Sun Meng's suggestion. 0

"Sigh! You really are so careless. Alright, help me bring these things inside; I need to see which Ms. Tan is at the hospital." Just as Sun Meng turned around, she suddenly noticed Ziya's outfit and added, "Nice outfit; it really suits you. My short stature can't pull it off... Heh, I'm off." 0

Ziya shook her head in silence but understood Sun Meng's situation. She had originally planned to wait for her return to express her desire to leave but seeing Sun Meng looking so exhausted made her swallow her words instead. 0

At that moment, under Shuangshuang's watchful gaze and its muffled warnings, Ziya stepped outside to help Sun Meng carry in food and other supplies. Sun Meng hurriedly said little else before driving off again. Ziya glanced at the two little creatures at the door and felt uneasy, muttering helplessly that she had to enter through the main door. 0

With nothing in her hands, Ziya hesitated about whether to go inside or wait outside until those two creatures moved aside before entering. With that thought in mind, Ziya decided to call Severe Cold back and pressed the button to dial his number. 0

The phone really was as Severe Cold had said; the signal there was terrible. After several attempts to connect, it always showed "out of service area." Just when Ziya was about to give up, the call finally went through. 0

"Hello..." Ziya hurriedly shouted into the receiver. 0

"Ziya... why did you hang up just now?" Severe Cold asked loudly. 0

"I didn't! It's... well, it's complicated," Ziya replied, not wanting to share what was happening with Severe Cold. She felt it wasn't right—partly out of consideration for Sun Meng, and partly because Severe Cold was just an acquaintance, a male friend she didn't want to burden with her strange situation. 0

"Speak up! Do you have something going on?" Severe Cold's enticing voice came through the phone, still as pleasant as ever. 0

"Nothing's wrong. If I need help, I'll come to you," Ziya deliberately threw out a safe response. 0

After finishing the call with Severe Cold, Ziya walked to the entrance of the villa. As expected, she didn't see those two brutes blocking her way, so she quickly tiptoed toward the living room. Just as she stepped onto the stairs, Shuangshuang came charging at her like a crazed bull, barking wildly. 0
