Ziya turned around, her hair standing on end. The door was... how could it be open again? An unsettling feeling washed over her, and cold sweat began to seep from every pore like needles pricking her skin. At that moment, Ziya was genuinely frightened, afraid of everything—even the shadow cast by the light on the wall made her body instinctively shudder. She walked to the door and closed it tightly once more, unwilling to let her mind wander to dark thoughts. She decided to test the lock herself; she locked the door and stepped outside, pushing and twisting the handle, but it just wouldn’t budge. 0

This experiment only deepened Ziya's sense of unease. If the door was indeed locked, how could it have opened by itself? One possibility was that she had forgotten to close it or hadn’t closed it at all. But how could she forget? She distinctly remembered checking that the door was securely shut! 0

Ziya focused intently on the lock issue when suddenly her phone rang. She hurried to grab it, making sure to close the door properly this time. 0

However, as she reached the desk where the phone was, it rang once and then fell silent. Frustrated, Ziya picked up the phone and saw a series of unfamiliar Arabic numbers. She didn’t think much of it and glanced at her phone; it was exactly 5:10 AM. 0

Realizing there was still some time before dawn, Ziya decided to continue brainstorming ideas for the Lin Sisters story. She also needed to check out the material Severe Cold had provided her. So she focused intently on the clues given by Severe Cold. To her right was the Dressing Table’s Mirror Surface, and for some reason, Ziya felt as if someone was watching her from within the mirror. 0

Trying to keep an eye on both the door behind her and whatever might be lurking in the mirror left her with no inspiration at all. She opened her computer and browsed online to see if any friends were currently active. 0

Ziya usually logged in invisibly, so it was easy for her to see who else was online. When she noticed Sun Meng was actually online, she wanted to share the strange happenings in her house. 0

After sending a surprised emoji, Ziya asked, “Meng, what are you doing up so early? Can’t sleep?” 0

Sun Meng replied with surprise as well, “Yeah, that old woman is so hard to deal with! I just got up to help her with the urinal!” 0

“Poor Meng,” Ziya sent a hug emoji in response. 0

“Why are you awake so early?” Sun Meng asked curiously. 0

After hesitating for a moment, Ziya decided to tell Sun Meng about what was going on. “This house is weird; Shuangshuang went crazy barking at me when she saw me, and that cat scratched me too. Oh, and there were bugs in the instant noodles in the storage room, plus black worms in the birthday cake.” 0

Sun Meng posted a terrifying image and then said, "How is that possible? The instant noodles were just bought from the supermarket, and the birthday cake was only put in yesterday. Little Catfish is so well-behaved, how could it grab anyone? Shuangshuang wouldn't bark randomly either." 0

Ziya sent Sun Meng a very aggrieved image and replied, "Dear, do I really need to lie? It wouldn't make any sense! I still have scars on my hands; you should come back and take a look!" 0

After a few seconds of pause, Sun Meng replied, "Are you telling me you're writing ghost stories in your bedroom?" 0

Ziya hurriedly answered, "Yes... but that doesn't seem related to the story!" 0

Sun Meng sent an image of a hand knocking and said, "Dear, you're mistaken. Writing ghost stories is quite eerie. Plus, being alone might inadvertently attract those unclean things into the villa. Maybe you should stop writing until your hands heal." 0

Ziya thought Sun Meng's words made sense and sent a smiling image, saying, "Alright! I won't write for now; it was tough not sleeping last night." 0

Sun Meng immediately sent a hugging image and said, "Okay, you rest! It's fine; dawn is approaching. Dear, I want to sleep for a bit; you can play by yourself! Bye!" 0

Seeing Sun Meng's profile picture turn grayish-brown, Ziya knew she had gone offline. After sighing, she logged off as well. Checking the time, it was already 7:50 AM. She stood up and stretched, feeling extremely fatigued. 0

This time when Ziya looked back at the door, it was fine and hadn't opened again. She thought maybe she hadn't closed it properly a few times! The automatic opening eased some of her anxiety. Remembering what Sun Meng said about the food being recently bought felt strange to her, so she decided to check it out. 0

Stepping out of her bedroom with a dog... naturally led to a fierce barking. Although the dog was small, its voice was piercingly sharp, startling Ziya so much that she had no choice but to cover her ears while going down the stairs. 0

When Ziya reached the refrigerator door and pulled it open to take a look inside, she exclaimed! There was nothing in the fridge; that large plate of birthday cake had completely vanished. Did the cat steal it? Or did that fierce Shuangshuang take it? But the fridge was at least one meter high; how could either the cat or dog have eaten the cake without leaving even a crumb? 0

Confused and not wanting to go hungry like this, Ziya clenched her keys in her hand and prepared to go out to buy something to eat. However, Shuangshuang didn't care whether Ziya was hungry or just wanted to stroll outside; it relentlessly chased and nipped at her. The living room was filled with Shuangshuang's barking, echoing throughout the space. 0

Ziya picked up the broom, trying to fend off the relentless pursuit of her dog. The commotion in the living room was chaotic, with one person and one dog causing a ruckus. Ziya focused on using the broom to chase away Shuangshuang when suddenly, a cat's meow broke through the noise. "Meow..." It didn't seem like much at first, but when Ziya turned to look at the cat, she sensed that things were about to get complicated. 0

The cat had bright green eyes surrounded by a faint yellow ring, slowly stalking towards Ziya with its claws poised for action. Its fur bristled as if it were ready to pounce, and Ziya felt a chill run down her spine. Dealing with one unruly dog was already challenging enough; now, out of nowhere, came a cat that had once scratched her, making her heart race with trepidation. 0

As Ziya swung the broom, the dog became even more frantic, undeterred by the weapon in her hands. With the cat behind and the dog in front, the trio created a lively scene in the hall. Just then, Ziya's phone rang from her pocket. 0

She quickly pulled out her phone to see that it was Severe Cold calling. Without hesitation, she pressed the answer button... At that moment, the dog seized the opportunity and bit down on Ziya's pant leg, tugging fiercely. The cat remained steady, closely watching Ziya's every move as Severe Cold's voice boomed through the phone: "Hello! Is this Ziya?" 0

"Yes!" Ziya replied while trying to shake off Shuangshuang. 0

"Are you okay? It sounds really noisy over there..." Severe Cold asked with a puzzled tone. 0

"Uh... Severe Cold, you... you have a dog and a cat at home?" Ziya said as she managed to shake off Shuangshuang's grip and hurried toward the door. However, the cat raised its tail and glared at Ziya with an intense look before darting ahead to block her path. The expression in its eyes felt downright sinister to Ziya. 0
