Ziya closed the door, while the annoying Shuangshuang barked and chased after her, trying to bite her. Holding a package in her hand, she felt quite surprised. Who sent this? Ziya was preoccupied with thoughts of the delivery, ignoring Shuangshuang's attempts to nip at her as she hurriedly stepped into the bedroom, slamming the door behind her with a loud bang, shutting out the sounds of the dog and cat.
Curiously, she tore open the brown envelope and pulled out a CD. Holding the CD, Ziya felt even more confused. She opened the player and inserted the CD. After a flurry of static, a wheelchair appeared on the screen… sitting in it was a woman dressed in black with long hair. The way she posed sent chills down Ziya's spine.
Ziya stared at the woman, feeling inexplicably tense and experiencing an odd sense of palpitations. The Woman in a Wheelchair remained facing away from Ziya as she looked at the screen. How could she turn around? What did just seeing her back mean? After watching this CD, Ziya suddenly felt a wave of unease wash over her.
Thinking it might have frozen, Ziya quickly ejected the CD and replayed it. Again, after another burst of static, the image of the wheelchair and the long-haired woman reappeared. It was all so strange and frustrating… Ziya whispered softly to herself.
She took out the CD and placed it back into its leather pouch, then picked up the envelope again to examine it closely but found no clues. The only thing there was the address of the Courier Company without any return address. What was this? Who was playing tricks on her? Could it be Sun Meng or Severe Cold?
With that thought in mind, Ziya hurriedly called Sun Meng. The call connected immediately, but all she heard was static with no one answering. Ziya had no choice but to hang up and call Severe Cold instead.
"Hello… this is Ziya. Um…" This time when she called Severe Cold, it connected right away, and Ziya's voice naturally rose in excitement.
"Is there something you need? Should I come over?" Severe Cold asked with apparent eagerness.
Ziya smiled slightly and replied, "Today isn't April Fool's Day, is it?"
Severe Cold paused for a moment before responding, "Why are you thinking about April Fool's Day? Do you want someone to play a prank on you?"
"Hehe! No, I just wanted to ask if you sent me something." Ziya rested her phone against her shoulder while flipping through her emails to share the Courier Company's address with Severe Cold.
"No, I didn't send you anything. What's in that package?" Severe Cold asked cautiously.
"Uh… just a CD. There's nothing on it—just a woman sitting in a wheelchair. Yes… a woman in black with long hair."
"Are you sure it's not Sun Meng playing a joke on you? Anyway, I didn't send you anything. Should I come over to check it out?" Severe Cold sounded somewhat anxious.
"Uh… never mind; it's nothing serious. I just glanced at it and left it there."
"Alright then! It's noon; have you eaten yet?"
"Cough cough, do you think I'm just a food bucket?" Ziya found it amusing how all he seemed to care about was whether she had eaten.
"Don't be like that; haven't you heard that food is paramount? It's our habit to ask if you've eaten!" Severe Cold joked lightheartedly.
"Alright, enough of the nonsense. I need to grab a quick bite and get back to writing. The holiday is almost over, and once I’m back at work, I won’t have time to sort through the topics you gave me."
"Okay! Goodbye..."
Severe Cold didn’t send anything, so it must be Sun Meng... Ziya called Sun Meng again, and this time it connected right away.
"Hey, Sun Meng, are you kidding me? What kind of weird thing did you send me?" Ziya said, pulling out a piece of fragrant tofu jerky that she had taken into her bedroom while moving things around and chewing on it.
"Send? What are you talking about? Miss, I'm busy as a bee. How could I possibly have time to play April Fool's games with you? If you don’t believe me, come see for yourself."
Great, Sun Meng was busy. With that, the call ended. Apparently, Ms. Tan had an upset stomach and messed up her pants, leaving Sun Meng no time to chat.
Whatever, Ziya munched on the tofu jerky, feeling satisfied in her stomach without any hunger pangs. She couldn’t be bothered with those two clowns and continued typing.
……………………………………………… Lin Sisters
Under Wan Yu's disdainful gaze, Li Darwen felt a slight flush on his face. Indeed! After all his hard work to reach this point, it would be a shame to give up everything for love.
But Wanru was temperamental, domineering, and suspicious... repeatedly treating Li Darwen this way made him think of the good in Wan Yu. Comparing the two sisters made him lean toward Wan Yu, but Wanru held fifty percent of the company’s shares—she was the master of the company. However, if he could get his hands on Wanru's power, then he and Wan Yu could live happily together...
With that thought in mind, Li Darwen gritted his teeth and promised Wan Yu, "Give me some time, and I will give you a fair answer. We will definitely be together forever."
"Hah! Wait for what? For you and Wanru to have a child?" Wan Yu replied with a bitter smile.
"No, I won’t let her have my child... If anyone is going to have my child, it has to be you." A fierce glint appeared in Li Darwen's eyes, startling Wan Yu.
"What do you want?"
"Don't worry about it, Wan Yu... You know I’m being forced... Your sister is threatening me. She said if I don’t agree, she’ll kick you out of the house when you're in no condition to defend yourself!" Knowing the deep entanglement between Wan Yu and Wanru, Li Darwen deliberately lied to complain to Wan Yu.
Sure enough, it was Wanru who was pressuring him; she knew it would be like this... Wan Yu believed Li Darwen's words without hesitation. Although she didn’t immediately agree with him, she secretly made up her mind.
"Wan Yu, look..." Li Darwen continued to plead desperately.
"You should leave! If Wanru finds out you've been here, she’ll definitely cause a scene."
"Forgive me, and I'll go out." Although Li Darwen felt anxious inside, he knew that Wan Yu had a kind heart and would definitely consider their feelings.
"Uh... fine! I forgive you, now hurry up and go out." Wan Yu, fearing that Li Darwen would face Wanru's wrath, had no choice but to forgive him.
Li Darwen nodded and gently kissed Wan Yu on the forehead. Apologetically, he stepped out of Wan Yu's bedroom, but as he opened the door, he noticed a figure quickly darting away from the entrance.
"Who?" Li Darwen sensed something was wrong; someone must have overheard his conversation with Wan Yu. He hurriedly followed after the figure.

Time passed like grains of sand in an hourglass, and soon it was 5:40 PM.
Ziya felt a slight hunger pang. She couldn't eat any more dried tofu; that was just junk food. She needed to go downstairs to make some porridge. With that thought, Ziya got up and headed downstairs, but she found it strange that she didn't see Shuangshuang!
Initially startled by the little creature's playful bites, she now felt something was off without seeing it around. Unconsciously, she turned toward the stairwell to check if it had come down there.
As Ziya reached the stairwell, she vaguely saw a small curled-up figure at the bottom. Upon closer inspection, it was none other than Shuangshuang! She stomped her foot to try to coax it into playfully biting her. Amusingly, despite stomping several times, that little creature remained completely still.
"Hey, Shuangshuang, come here... good girl..." Ziya called out several times, but the little rascal stayed curled up and motionless. Just moments ago they were playing together; why was it ignoring her now? Feeling something was off, Fang Ziya quickly walked over to Shuangshuang but was startled enough to take a few steps back—was it dead?!
