Bathing White remained as immovable as a massive boulder, much to Ziya's frustration. She surveyed the eerie bathroom, feeling utterly drained by the terrifying presence of the Pit. 0

With her hands pressed against Bathing White, tears streamed down Ziya's face as she repeatedly murmured the name of Severe Cold. Suddenly, she felt Bathing White tremble, and a wisp of bluish smoke emerged from within, seemingly shifting to one side. The movement startled Ziya, causing her to retreat in fear as she watched a hand gradually extend from beneath Bathing White, emerging from the Pit. 0

Ziya's gaze fixed on the dark hand stretching out before her. She quickly stopped crying and picked up a pair of scissors from the ground, gripping them tightly in her hand with a determination to fight back. She thought of avenging Severe Cold, regardless of whether he was human or ghost; she was ready to stab him with the scissors. 0

Raising the scissors high, Ziya prepared to plunge them down at that moment. 0

"Ziya..." To her surprise, the hand spoke, calling out her name. 0

"Severe Cold, sob..." Ziya looked at Severe Cold's half-exposed head and suddenly burst into tears. 0

"Hey, it's okay. I used a lighter to ignite that hair; below is just a smooth tile floor—nothing else," Severe Cold said, shivering slightly but trying to downplay the situation for Ziya. 0

With tears still glistening in her eyes, Ziya saw Severe Cold safely appear before her and finally let out a relieved laugh. Severe Cold wiped his dirty face and reassured Ziya that everything was fine. However, he secretly felt bewildered by the strange events; he had searched below for so long without finding anything that could have caused that hair's power. 0

Neither of them wanted to linger any longer in that place. They hastily wiped their faces and hands clean with tissues before rushing downstairs. Once in the car and starting it up, they felt a slight tremor as the vehicle headed toward town. 0

At that moment, both Ziya and Severe Cold were silent; their shared understanding of what they had just witnessed spoke volumes. Severe Cold, who had never believed in the Demon God, concealed a desire for discovery behind his cold eyes. He planned to rest at home and continue investigating the villa's secrets with Ziya. Glancing sideways, he noticed that Ziya had already leaned back in her seat and fallen asleep. 0

Severe Cold parked the car by the roadside and gently draped his somewhat dirty jacket over Ziya before restarting the engine and driving home. Exhausted from the earlier harrowing scene in the bathroom that had heightened her alertness, Ziya had forgotten her fatigue. Now that Severe Cold was safe, his tension eased as weariness washed over him. 0

He felt similarly drained but pushed aside his fatigue for Ziya and their quest to uncover the villa's secrets. It wasn't until he parked in their garage that he finally felt his legs grow heavy as if filled with lead. 0

Gently waking Ziya, the two of them got out of the car. Ziya's nostrils flared as she felt an urge to sneeze; there seemed to be a strange burning smell in the air. 0

"Are you coming down with something?" Severe Cold asked, stopping Ziya from returning his clothes. He watched as she covered her mouth and frowned, trying to suppress the sneeze. 0

"Um... it feels like there's some weird smell. Can't you smell it?" 0

"Uh... maybe it's just the town burning straw! Let's hurry inside and rest." With that, Severe Cold led the way into the house. 0

Inside, it was quiet. The two of them tiptoed from the backyard into the living room. Severe Cold went to the kitchen first and brought out some food, making do with what he could find. After a quick wash-up, they both retreated to their bedrooms, too tired to think about anything else before collapsing into bed. 0

Ziya fell into a deep sleep, so deep that she felt unable to move her legs. She was still in Silt, with Severe Cold pulling her up while a boy below was dragging her down. 0

Ziya's body felt like it was being torn apart, pain coursing through her as silent tears soaked her pillow. Severe Cold's large hand was warm, but the child's small hand was cold enough to frighten her. 0

What was that banging sound? As Ziya struggled in her dream, she felt an overwhelming sense of dread creeping in. 0

Lazily lifting herself up, her eyes still heavy and unable to open properly, she rubbed her tired eyes before finally sitting up. Slipping on her slippers, she heard an annoying sound: "squish, squish." What kind of slippers made such an unpleasant noise? Looking down, she was stunned—how had she ended up wearing mismatched slippers? It dawned on her that after washing their feet together when they returned home, she had mixed them up due to her grogginess. 0

Monet's oversized slipper was so big that her foot rolled around inside it. She shuffled to the door and opened it, revealing Severe Cold standing there with a strange look in his eyes. Upon closer inspection, it was hard not to laugh; he was waiting to change shoes while standing in a tiny slipper. 0

"Quickly change your shoes; something's happened." Neither Ziya nor Severe Cold laughed; they both sensed that this was not a moment for humor. The terrifying feeling in their hearts lingered. At that moment, hearing Severe Cold mention something else made Ziya's heart race wildly. In a panic, she hurriedly shuffled back to him and exchanged her large slipper for her smaller one. 0

"What happened?" 0

"The house at the east end of the town, Uncle Lian Gen's place, has caught fire..." 0

"What? When did this happen?" 0

"It was when we were heading home. It felt quiet at our place, but I was too tired to think much of it. Just now, my dad came back and saw my car, so he ran over to tell me," Severe Cold said anxiously. 0

"Is everyone okay there?" Ziya asked, hurriedly grabbing a comb and quickly tying her hair up. She dropped the comb with a 'thud' and rushed downstairs with Severe Cold. 0

"The adults are fine, but one child... has died..." Severe Cold whispered, his voice filled with sorrow. 0

"Another child? How could this happen..." Ziya slowed her pace, lost in endless confusion as she muttered to herself. 0

"Well, let's go check out what you mentioned about Silt," Severe Cold said, grabbing Ziya's hand and heading toward the garage. 0

As they entered the garage through the side door, a faint sound of weeping drifted in from the front door, mixed with shouts of anger. Severe Cold hurriedly opened the car door for Ziya to get in. He immediately started the engine and used the remote to lift the garage door. 0

The cries poured in through the opened door. Ziya heard a woman's sharp wail mixed with curses: "You give me back my child! It's all your fault for going to that haunted house and bringing this Evil Spirit that killed my child..." 0
