"Ha ha! Look at you, Ziya, don't mind her. If she wants to move back to school, let her! It's fine, I can handle the loneliness," Liang Chao said with a light smile as he picked up a piece of tofu and popped it into his mouth. 0

The effects of the alcohol brought a rosy hue to Sun Meng's cheeks. Upon hearing Liang Chao's words, she lost some of her restraint, glancing at Ziya and him before chuckling and raising her glass for another drink. 0

"Ha ha! Don't be so smug. If it weren't for you trying to curry favor with someone back then, who knows who I would have ended up with... hic..." Sun Meng was clearly drunk, whether genuinely or feigned. She blurted out the secret she had with Liang Chao without a care. 0

"What are you two talking about?" Ziya couldn't drink much beer, so when she saw them adding a bit of brandy to their beers, she felt even less inclined to join in. With her head being the only sober one among them, she watched their drunken antics and found their words nonsensical. 0

"I'll tell you the story of me and Liang Chao. Back then, he somehow got my phone number. I thought he liked me and was infatuated for quite a while. But what puzzled me was that he kept asking about you in front of me. It made me really frustrated, so I deliberately told him you already had a boyfriend. Ha ha! He was so upset that he invited me to this old Lady's Tofu Shop to meet up. We drank together and got a bit tipsy. We ended up together in a muddled way, and you know how it went from there..." 0

"Smack..." Liang Chao suddenly stood up and slapped Sun Meng across the face, his eyes glaring as if he wanted to swallow her whole. Ziya was taken aback and hurriedly stood up, watching as Sun Meng covered her face and began to cry softly. The other patrons in the shop turned their scrutinizing gazes toward them... 0

"What are you doing hitting her... Are you even a man?" Ziya scolded, pulling aside Sun Meng's face that had been struck, revealing five bright red fingerprints on her fair skin. 0

"She... gets drunk and cries; it's so annoying. Come on, I'll take you both back to school," Liang Chao said, also slightly intoxicated as he swayed while helping Sun Meng toward the parking lot. Although Ziya had gotten her driver's license long ago, she wasn't very familiar with driving skills. However, seeing that both of them had been drinking, she felt compelled to drive them back to school. 0

Ziya recalled Sun Meng's earlier words and couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. Who said love wasn't selfish? Everyone harbors some untold secrets within; the memories of once being together under the moonlight had become fleeting whispers lost in time. As long as she didn't deliberately recall him, he wouldn't appear in her thoughts. The sky was darkening, and it began to drizzle lightly; the raindrops danced softly in the wind. Sighing quietly, she thought about how there were still one month and three days left in her internship period, which made her feel somewhat perplexed given everything she'd seen in the building. 0

Liang Chao knew Ziya could drive but still felt uneasy. He placed Sun Meng in the back seat before heading toward the driver's seat only to find someone already sitting there mumbling, "Fine! You drive; just be careful." 0

Ziya started the car; it trembled slightly for a few seconds as it warmed up before the headlights flickered on, slowly pulling out of the parking lot toward the school direction. This route could lead left to Universal Hotel or right to Daily News Building; straight ahead led toward Northwest Bridge. Northwest Bridge... Ziya paused slightly at the name; it brought back unsettling memories as classmates often discussed its infamous nickname—"cleansing." Sweat trickled down her brow as she realized she was getting lost in thought while driving; she quickly focused on ensuring safety first. 0

The bustling scenery flashed by in vibrant colors as she turned on the player; Wu Qilong's recently released song "Because You Are a Woman" filled the car with its deep, warm melody that evoked endless thoughts in listeners. A faint smile crept onto Ziya's lips as she tapped on the steering wheel while waiting for the green light to replace red. An Audi pulled up beside her car; its window silently slid down as they drew closer. Then came a whistle directed at her; Ziya wrinkled her nose at the smell inside the car and kept her window down. The guy clearly whistled at her; glancing over slightly revealed him dressed like a rogue with brightly dyed hair resembling a peacock's tail from a national forest park. 0

Ignoring the whistling and lewd kiss from behind, as the red light changed to green, the car moved away from the crosswalk. Ziya glanced in the side mirror and saw two Audis tailing them closely. Her heart skipped a beat, but seeing Liang Chao and Sun Meng asleep in the back seat gave her a bit more courage. She thought to herself, "You pervert, let's see what you can do," and continued to press the clutch and steer towards Northwest Bridge. After passing Northwest Bridge and turning onto Zhengyin Road, Dongmen Bridge was just a mile away from the school gate. 0

Ziya focused intently ahead, feeling increasingly puzzled. Wasn't Northwest Bridge right here? The road appeared straight with no intersections in sight. There should be four traffic lights under the bridge; the more she thought about it, the more uneasy she felt. She quickly hit the brakes and slowed down, wanting to stop somewhere to take a look. 0

Just as she reduced her speed, the two Audis behind her were caught off guard by her sudden deceleration. With no other cars on the road at that moment, they could have easily sped up... Suddenly, there was a loud crash followed by a rumble as one of the Audis collided head-on with a large truck. 0

With a screech, Ziya instinctively slammed on the brakes, startling Liang Chao and Sun Meng awake. They had been resting for a while, but the noise jolted them completely sober. 0

"What’s going on? What happened?" they exclaimed as they looked at the scene just a few meters away where the Audi was crushed against a bridge pillar, twisted into a mangled shape. Sun Meng quickly pulled out his phone to call for help while Liang Chao moved to take over driving from Ziya. He noticed her face was extremely pale and immediately asked, "Are you okay?" 0

Ziya shook her head silently and sat beside Sun Meng, gently resting her head on her shoulder. If she hadn’t slowed down just now, it would have been them three in trouble. 0

Liang Chao reversed the car and took another shortcut. Ziya remained quiet; she didn’t mention what had just happened but felt an underlying fear. As Liang Chao drove with focused determination ahead, suddenly a dark shadow darted swiftly across their path like an ethereal black figure. 0
