Liu informed Ziya and Qin Nannan that they would be assigned a mentor, and Ziya secretly concluded it must be Lao Ran, who had come up from the tenth floor.
The three were heading to another office when they encountered three people coming down the corridor. One of them was Zhang, the Chief Editor, a striking figure exuding the aura of a successful entrepreneur. The second person took someone by surprise; he had appeared in a dream, but what was his name? The last one had a rather disheveled appearance, sporting a sparse goatee—he was Feng Shui Master.
Ziya was taken aback; wasn't this the Taoist from her dream? Qin Nannan and Liu also noticed her unusual expression. "Hey! That's our Boss and his friend. The guy next to him is a friend of our Boss's friend who has some business to discuss. Don't stare at them like that; it would be rude."
"Is that friend of Zhang, the Chief Editor, named Yuan Ye?" Ziya quickly turned away, pretending to be nonchalant, but quietly whispered her question. Only then did she notice Liu had already approached the two men to strike up a conversation, leaving Qin Nannan puzzled about what was being said.
"Yuan Ye? Who is Yuan Ye?"
"I didn't tell you," Ziya immediately hushed, enjoying the cool breeze from the air conditioning.
The sound of high heels clicking echoed from another part of the corridor, and a familiar fragrance wafted into Ziya's nostrils. Nana sauntered in with an alluring sway of her hips, captivating everyone as she walked gracefully.
The lobby had an expansive layout with double glass doors flanked by potted snake plants. Upon entering, one was greeted by a large curved reception desk, with small corridors branching out in all directions. These corridors led to various offices, each marked with appropriate signage.
Liu rushed over with a beaming expression; her joy suggested she had just received praise from a superior or some other good news that had lifted her spirits.
"Come on! I'll take you to meet Li Mingxiang..." Liu said cheerfully in a low voice.
"Li Mingxiang?" Liu's soft words struck Ziya like a bombshell, leaving her momentarily stunned.
"You know him?"
"No... I don't know her," Ziya stammered hurriedly. It seemed more appropriate to apply the phrase "taking things out of context" to herself at this moment. After some thought, she decided to find out who Li Mingxiang was; her name sounded somewhat familiar.
As they stepped into the elevator, the three of them pretended to be relaxed, glancing around. However, Ziya was anything but relaxed. The red hue she saw upon entering the elevator felt like it seeped into her very blood. Perhaps it was because she had dreamt of blood flowing in that elevator after riding it last time. The memory of that dream made her uneasy.
The elevator's indicator light flickered with cherry blossom pink beams as it counted up: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. When they exited the elevator, they stepped into a long, dim corridor. The layout of the rooms on this floor was different from those below; this floor featured a straight and lengthy hallway, while the lower level was a maze of twists and turns that could easily confuse anyone.
They arrived at a door marked with a sign. Liu knocked a few times before pushing the door open and walking in. Before them was what appeared to be an office filled with numerous off-white equipment: printers, copiers, and fax machines. At the first desk in the front row sat a middle-aged woman with an attractive face, her fingers skillfully tapping away at the keyboard.
The Daily News Building operated as a one-stop system: reporters would draft articles and hand them over to layout editors; once approved by the chief editor, they would be sent to printing. Different sections handled various topics—sports, culture, economics, law—each following its own procedures. Ziya and her companions had come to the editorial office, where rows of staff were busy with their work.
Ziya looked at the familiar yet somewhat strange face before her; an odd feeling lingered in her heart. Liu chatted amiably with Li Mingxiang for a while before turning to Ziya and Qin Nannan. "This is your mentor, Li Mingxiang. She has some issues with her eyesight and wants to step back into a Cleaner role. You should learn a lot from her."
"Um! Hello, Teacher Li!" Ziya quickly greeted politely, though her expression was complex as she regarded the woman who had once appeared in her dreams.
Qin Nannan aimlessly glanced around the room. Once Liu had taken care of Ziya's matters, he said to her, "Xiao Qin, I'll take you to see your mentor right away."
"Uh... I..." Qin Nannan hesitated for a moment; honestly, he didn't want to be separated from Ziya for an internship in another department. However, seeing that nearly everyone in the office was female made him shy about voicing his thoughts.
"What's wrong? Not willing?" Liu exclaimed lightly. Wow! Qin Nannan thought; Liu's insight was sharper than he expected! Just that brief moment of hesitation had been noticed.
While they spoke, Ziya had already started chatting with Li Mingxiang about key details of their work. Liu smiled and nodded approvingly.
"Xiao Qin, let's head out to your mentor's office."
"Uh... well, see you later, Ziya." Ziya waved her hand lightly to indicate she understood, and Qin Nannan followed Liu out.

The door banged shut, startling all the colleagues in the office as they stared at the departing Li Mingxiang before turning their gazes to the stunned Ziya. A young female reporter took the opportunity to refill her water and approached Ziya, scrutinizing her for a moment. Without a word, she turned and returned to her desk, where the sound of typing resumed.
Qin Nannan followed Liu to the designated area and knocked on the door before pushing it open to enter.
