Ziya examined the newspaper closely, connecting it to her recent nightmares. She recalled that water was a medium for communication with spirits, and just moments ago, it was clear that the Demon Leader had used water to find her. She could even check on her phone. Ever since returning from the News Agency with Qin Nannan, she had been plagued by continuous nightmares. The first dream featured a woman arguing with someone before falling into an unknown abyss; the second dream involved her visiting the News Agency, only to discover that everyone she encountered had died. Additionally, there was a figure named Lao Ran who had entrusted her with finding his family—how bizarre! 0

As night fell, the sky seemed to drift into slumber, with the occasional car horn filtering through the gaps of the poorly closed window. Ziya lived in the Small Town Story residential area, where most residents were well-off, each household owning one or two cars. 0

Outside, the moonlight poured in like silver beams, illuminating the dark room with clarity. Curled up in bed, Ziya was destined for a sleepless night; the vivid sensations made it impossible for her to drift off. Just earlier, it seemed Qin Nannan hadn’t brought his phone along, as her calls went unanswered. 0

She decided to send him a text: "Hey! Where are you? I have something to tell you that might scare you. I had a nightmare, and it felt incredibly real. You were in it, along with the staff from the News Agency, and I saw them die." 0

The wind picked up slightly, causing the window frame to creak and startling Ziya as she focused on her phone. She quickly threw off her covers and got out of bed to close the window. Glancing at her computer, she thought that since she couldn’t sleep anyway, she might as well browse online for a while. 0

Suddenly, her phone rang, catching her off guard just as she had opened her computer. A chill ran down her spine as she muttered under her breath. 0

Ziya cursed softly before putting down the mouse and picking up her phone from under the covers. She couldn’t help but chuckle at herself—it was Qin Nannan calling. 0

“Hello!” she said, placing the phone to her ear while still maneuvering the mouse with one hand and leaning against her shoulder to keep it from falling. 0

Qin Nannan’s voice came through like that of a specter: “What did you send me? If I could be scared so easily by you, I would have died a thousand times already.” 0

“I’m serious! Remember that guy in the elevator named Lao Ran? Do you recall him?” She shifted positions and glanced at her phone’s screen, worried he might not hear her. 0

“Lao Ran? Yeah, he’s that strange old man. What’s up? You didn’t dream about him too, did you?” It sounded like Qin Nannan was calling from a lively place; voices of men and women chattered in the background. 0

“Where… are you?” Ziya frowned and set down the mouse properly to answer his call casually. 0

"In Grandpa's house, there are many guests, so I’m talking to you outside." 0

"Uh! Okay!" 0

"Wait, are you okay?" Qin Nannan asked with concern. Ziya had no idea that her message had caused someone to worry deeply. The painful memories and the bloody scenes they had both witnessed made the mention of nightmares in the text unsettling for Qin Nannan, causing her eyelids to twitch anxiously. 0

"I'm fine. Do you think something would happen to me? I'm just feeling down tonight and don’t want to talk about it. See you tomorrow; just report to the News Agency!" Ziya replied. For some reason, hearing the other person's caring words reminded her of that slap earlier. Her nose felt oddly sour, and her eyes began to well up. Internally, she scolded herself: "What a fool! Who is he to me? Just a simple greeting, why am I so easily moved?" 0

"You’re not crying, are you?" Qin Nannan sensed something was off during the brief pause, noticing Ziya's unusual breathing. 0

"Why would I cry? What are you to me? Seriously? Alright, bye!" Ziya hung up first, but tears flowed silently and uncontrollably down her cheeks. She gently wiped away the traces of her tears with a tissue. Then she clicked on her forum to check for any messages. 0

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Ziya hurriedly looked in the mirror; her eyes seemed red. She carefully dabbed at the remnants of tears in the corners of her eyes before walking to the door. Taking a deep breath, she decisively opened it. 0

Her father, Liu Haoming, and mother, Zi Anqing, stood awkwardly at the entrance, their faces filled with discomfort and guilt. They stepped into their daughter's room one after another. 0

"Um, what’s up? Aren't you going to sleep?" Liu Haoming said, trying to make conversation. His eyes flickered with self-reproach as he struggled to apologize to his daughter. 0

"I don’t want to sleep yet; I want to check my forum!" Ziya replied coldly. A long-buried rebelliousness suddenly flared up within her as she thought resentfully: Am I your personal property? Hmph! Even sleeping requires your permission? Parents like you who still cling to outdated ways of raising children are truly rare creatures. 0

"Ziya, your dad realizes he may have been a bit inappropriate earlier, so he came to check on you. Please don’t be angry or hold it against him; he only wants what’s best for you," her mother quickly intervened. 0

"Alright, my dear Anqing Mama and Liu Haoming Dad, don’t worry! I’m a big kid now; I’m an adult. Please stop treating me like a preschooler; that would be a great show of care and love for me." As she spoke, Ziya opened the door wider and gestured for them to come in. 0

"Uh! Okay! You take a rest!" Mom and Dad exited the room with a dull look on their faces. Ziya nodded and watched them walk out of his room. Then he sat in front of the computer again and clicked to open the page. The QQ messages kept flashing with familiar and unfamiliar avatars. Ziya has several QQ groups. She usually doesn't join the group chat, but she was really bored at this time, so she randomly clicked on a group called the Super Horrible Group after Nine Ages to have a look. Terrorist groups have many members, and there are basically hundreds of people in a group. In addition to chatting freely, group members are not allowed to discuss sensitive topics such as sex in the group. The group she just clicked on opened, and the topics discussed by the group flashed up. Ziya took a closer look and found that the above topic mentioned a ghost incident in a certain News Agency. This topic immediately aroused her curiosity. . Ziya There was a sound of tapping the keyboard, and I sent my thoughts to the group Q chat: "Have any of you seen the authenticity of this thing with your own eyes?" 0
