Ziya and Qin Nannan stood there for a while, unable to react, watching as the employees of the building lined up orderly to clock in. The fingerprint machine emitted a soft 'ding' along with a sweet voice prompt. An inexplicable sense of panic settled firmly in their minds, and strangely enough, these employees wore blank expressions. Thankfully, Ziya and Qin Nannan, standing nearby, maintained polite smiles and nodded at them, indicating that they were new and hoping for guidance from these seasoned workers. 0

However, the employees responded with cold faces, ignoring Ziya's enthusiasm, which made Qin Nannan grit her teeth in frustration, wishing she could punch or kick those who disregarded them. 0

As they watched the expressionless people enter the building, Ziya felt an unexplainable chill. Qin Nannan, with a pale face, quickly nudged her with her elbow and spoke softly. 0

"Cold?" 0

"Nothing." Ziya replied lightly, her gaze fixed on the departing figures, feeling an odd sense of foreboding… 0

"Hey! What are you two planning to do?" A security guard approached them from the reception area, noticing they seemed reluctant to leave. 0

"We…" Before Ziya could finish her sentence, a sleek A6 sedan drove in with its horn blaring. The security guard's previously sullen face instantly transformed into an obsequious grin upon seeing the Boss arrive. 0

The guard lifted the barrier, and the car released a puff of white exhaust as it drove straight into the parking lot without acknowledging the smiling guard. 0

"See? When people reach this level of popularity, I’m satisfied." 0

"Hmph!" Ziya and Qin Nannan ignored him and continued to stare into the building’s parking lot. After a long wait without seeing the so-called Boss emerge from that alleyway, they remained hopeful at the entrance. They thought to themselves: unless there was another exit somewhere else, this Boss would inevitably walk past them. 0

"Someone's coming out…" Qin Nannan whispered to Ziya. 0

"You two are…?" A middle-aged man with sharp eyes scanned Ziya and Qin Nannan intently as he approached. Beside him stood a Gentleman who appeared to be in his forties or fifties. He had a thin face adorned with a slight goatee that seemed like something only actors on television would wear. His hair was styled high with a green hairpin inserted, giving him an ethereal appearance… yet in reality, this outfit felt increasingly awkward to behold. 0

"We are students here for an internship arranged by our school..." Ziya's voice trembled, overwhelmed by the imposing presence of the Boss. She found herself at a loss for words, unsure how to explain yesterday's events to him. Qin Nannan remained silent, her gaze darting around, scrutinizing the people near the Boss, her mind racing with questions. Why had the Boss invited a Taoist priest to this building? Could it be that something truly strange was happening here? 0

"What do you want from me? This is not your school, nor is it a playground," the Boss said, his face devoid of any smile. His serious and grim demeanor made him seem unapproachable. He shouted towards the entrance at the security guard. 0

"Our... our letter is here, so we need to retrieve it!" Ziya blurted out in a panic. 0

"Fine, but you must leave once you have your letter," the Boss replied coldly before turning to the Taoist beside him and saying, "Let's go." 0

Watching the cold-hearted Boss and the Taoist walk away, Ziya stomped her foot in frustration while Qin Nannan furrowed her brow, deep in thought about their next move. The security guard rushed over after hearing the Boss's shout. 0

"I don't know what's going on with you two, but you should just leave! Don't make this difficult for me." 0

"Uncle Security, the Boss has already agreed to let us get our letter; we’ll just go get it," Ziya explained as she headed toward the first-floor office where they had been yesterday. Qin Nannan forced a smile at the guard and then quietly spat at him as he turned away, muttering something under her breath. 0

This building was constructed in 1999 in H City and was vast in scale, encompassing a range of services including paper production, engraving, printing, news reporting, editing, advertising, and bilingual translation—a comprehensive one-stop operation. It had once been all the rage, with unique reports capturing public attention time and again. Now, however, it evoked a sense of dread and mystery. 0

Deep down, Ziya found it hard to believe what had been said at the entrance yesterday. If it were just one person's experience, that would be one thing; but Qin Nannan had been there too! There was no way both of them could have been mistaken! With this thought in mind and her natural curiosity piqued about new experiences, she felt even more determined to uncover the secrets of this building. Moreover, what was with the Boss's stammering and that mysterious Taoist? What secrets were they afraid would be revealed? 0

At this point, it's worth mentioning a topic that many might understand or not: sometimes the more you try to hide something, the more attention it draws from others. Like children who sense adults are being secretive about certain matters; rather than preventing curiosity, it often fuels it instead. They will find ways to explore these mysteries themselves—even if they end up hurt—only to realize later that their parents should have just explained things openly from the start. 0

Ziya had a bold idea brewing in her mind; if what she discovered turned out to be true, then distinguishing between who was real and who was fake here would become crystal clear. The two arrived at the lobby where a stunning woman blocked their path. She flashed a bright smile revealing pearly white teeth and exuded a faint scent of jasmine as she spoke fluently in English: "I assume the Boss hasn’t informed me about your situation yet." 0

Qin Nannan huffed angrily and retorted, "We are Chinese; do you speak Chinese?" Ziya shot her a disapproving glance but responded politely: 0

The beautiful woman paused for a moment, then politely extended her hand and said, "Uh... please come over here to fill out a registration form, and someone will come to take you inside." 0

Ziya nodded, while Qin Nannan wore a proud expression on her face. She thought to herself, this is how it should be! Chinese people should speak Chinese. After filling out their information, they anxiously paced back and forth on the bright and luxurious marble tiles, waiting for the person who would receive them, secretly speculating about who would appear before them. 0
