Ye Chenfeng did not see anything in the hospital room that posed a threat to Ding Li, but he did notice a "person" crouching in the corner. This person was wearing a patient gown, yet there was no sign of life emanating from him. 0

He was a ghost. 0

"You are not ordinary, young man. I've been here for over ten years, and you are the first person who can see me." 0

The figure in the corner slowly stood up. His hoarse voice sounded like something scraping against a surface, sending chills down Ye Chenfeng's spine. Wiping the sweat from his arm, which had raised hairs, he asked, "You've been here for over ten years. Haven't you thought about reincarnating?" 0

"My wishes remain unfulfilled. How could I reincarnate?" 0

"What unfulfilled wishes do you have? Can I help you?" Ye Chenfeng had come to see Ding Li without bringing anything with him. 0

Wherever there are people, there is a world of its own; where there are people, abnormal things will appear, and these abnormalities exist based on human essence. These entities are called ghosts, which are transformed from humans. When a person dies with unfulfilled wishes, they linger in the realm between life and death, reluctant to leave. 0

Those with good luck won't see them; those with bad luck, like Ye Chenfeng who specializes in dealing with such entities, can see them. 0

Some ghosts can harm people, while others do not. 0

For instance, this old man before him had witnessed many events during his time here. He had seen patients come and go from the room and had watched many people pass away without harboring any ill intentions. 0

The old man hunched over, his back unable to straighten as he trembled toward Ye Chenfeng. A wave of deathly energy quickly spread throughout the room. 0

On the bed, Ding Li shivered and instinctively grabbed the blanket. At the same time, he looked toward the old man and Ye Chenfeng. 0

"Old man..." Ye Chenfeng was surprised that Ding Li could also see the old man. He felt anxious, fearing that the old man might harm Ding Li. The old man waved his hand at him and faded into nothingness. 0

Ye Chenfeng looked at Ding Li and asked, "Are you feeling better?" 0

"Who is he?" Ding Li inquired about the old man who had just vanished. 0

"It doesn't matter who he is; you need to recover quickly," Ye Chenfeng said as he walked over and embraced Ding Li. He took her cold hand and without hesitation placed it against his chest, trying to warm her with his body heat. 0

Ding Li could see the old man; it was her frail body that caused her weakness. 0

The old man hadn't truly left; he remained squatting in the same spot, his persistence unwavering, as if waiting for someone. Perhaps he was indeed waiting for someone like Ye Chenfeng, someone capable of helping him. 0

At the Ye Family home. 0

"Xiang'er, tell me honestly, what were you doing when Lily got into trouble?" Ye Mom pressed Sun Xianger for answers. 0

Ye Dad sighed heavily, heartbroken over the unborn grandchild that had just begun to take shape, yet he couldn't help but suspect that Ding Li's incident had a significant connection to Xiang'er. 0

He was reading the newspaper. 0

Ye Mom was interrogating Xiang'er in her room. 0

Xiang'er hung her head, supporting herself on the edge of the bed, her legs moving up and down. Her lips were tightly pressed together, refusing to respond to Ye Mom's questions. 0

"Sun Xianger, my son has treated you well; why are you being so cruel?" Ye Mom exclaimed angrily at Xiang'er’s indifferent demeanor, almost shouting in frustration. 0

Xiang'er slowly raised her head, her expression blank as she coldly glanced at Ye Mom. Standing up, she said, "I am helping Chenfeng Brother. Ding Li is carrying a Demon..." 0

"It really is you," Ye Mom said angrily, raising her hand to slap her. 0

Xiang'er ducked her head, but it was too late to avoid the blow. She felt the sting of the slap and covered her face, her eyes filled with hatred as she said, "I hate you..." Just then, a burst of flames shot down from above Ye Mom's head, landing squarely on her. 0

Without warning, Ye Mom's hair caught fire, and the flames spread rapidly. 0

Ye Mom, terrified, screamed for help as she dashed out of the bedroom into the living room, the fire already licking at her face. 0

Ye Dad was surely horrified. 0

In a panic, he grabbed a cup of tea and poured it over Ye Mom's head, but it did nothing to extinguish the flames; they continued to dance and spread across her body. 0

Hearing Ye Mom's heart-wrenching screams, Ye Dad rushed to embrace her and took her to the bathroom. Under the showerhead, he rinsed her off vigorously until the fire was finally extinguished. Ye Mom emerged from the ordeal looking disheveled and burnt, her hair a tangled mess and her face blackened. Her eyes were wide with terror as she forgot to cry and threw herself into Ye Dad's arms, saying, "It hurts; you scared me to death." 0

Ye Dad had no time to ask what had happened; he hurriedly tended to Ye Mom's injuries. 0

They had a pot of aloe vera in their home that was thriving—something Ye Mom had bought at the flower market for decoration. Little did they know it would come in handy for treating her burns. 0

As Ye Dad cared for her wounds, Ye Mom's emotions began to stabilize slightly, and only then did she remember Xiang'er. 0

"It was her; she..." 0

"Her?" Ye Dad wondered how Ye Mom had caught fire, and who she was referring to. Could it be Xiang'er? 0

"It's Xiang'er. I had a fight with her, hit her, and then... then this happened to me." Ye Mom recalled the events with lingering fear, still shaken by what had transpired. 0

"Honey, it wasn't just an accident on your part; it was Xiang'er who set your hair on fire?" 0

Ye Mom shook her head. "It wasn't Xiang'er who started the fire... I don't even know how all of this happened. But somehow, it’s all connected to that girl." 0

Ye Dad understood that his wife didn't like Xiang'er, but she couldn't explain things clearly. It wasn't fair to blame the little girl for everything. 0

"Don't worry, I'll go check on her." 0

Ye Dad went to find Xiang'er. 0

Xiang'er was huddled in the corner, hugging her arms and burying her head beneath them, sobbing quietly. 0

Ye Dad approached her, watching silently for a moment before gently lifting her chin. Her cheeks were starting to swell, clear marks from five fingers visible on her skin. 0

"Did Auntie hit you?" 0

Xiang'er looked up with tear-filled eyes, resembling a delicate flower drenched in rain. 0

"She hit you, and you burned her?" Ye Dad could only speculate; he truly had no other thoughts on the matter. 0

"No, Auntie hit me and then threatened to kick me out immediately, or else... then she took out a lighter and set her hair on fire, saying it was my fault... It's not me, I'm so scared, Uncle please don't abandon me." 0

Hearing Xiang'er say this, Ye Dad was stunned. He knew his wife's temperament all too well. When their son Ye Chenfeng was little, whenever something didn't go her way, she would cry, throw tantrums, and even threaten to harm herself. They had once taken her to the hospital for an examination, and the doctor diagnosed her with mild hysteria. 0

This condition stemmed from inner conflict, emotional agitation, suggestion, or self-suggestion leading to sudden episodes. 0

If she wanted to frame Xiang'er, she could easily do it. 0

Ye Dad remained silent, gently patting Xiang'er's shoulder with a bitter smile before standing up to check on his wife. 0

Ye Mom was quite upset. 0

At home, she held all the power. For a long time, everything had been calm and uneventful. Now with Xiang'er around and Ding Li having a miscarriage, things had turned chaotic. If they didn't quickly get rid of Xiang'er, who knew if there would be any peace in the future. 0

Ye Dad entered with a glass of water and handed it to Ye Mom. 0

"Has she agreed to leave?" Ye Mom asked directly without taking the glass, inquiring whether they could drive Xiang'er away. In her mind, getting rid of her while Ye Chenfeng was away was the best solution. 0

"Here, drink some water; you haven't taken your medicine in a while," Ye Dad said as he offered her a pill for mental stability along with the glass of water again. 0

"Are you doubting that I'm having an episode?" 0

"No, I'm just worried about you. Please take your medicine!" 0

Ye Mom, filled with rage, pushed Ye Dad's hand away, causing the cup to fall and shatter on the floor. Ye Dad stood frozen, exclaiming, "You are simply unreasonable." 0

"I'm unreasonable? Xiang'er is a disaster! Can't you see what she's done to me?" Ye Mom shouted, her anger mixed with tears, nearly at the point of despair. 0

"Here we go again. It's so embarrassing. I've tolerated you for so many years, and now that the kids are older, you still act like this." Ye Dad, exasperated, turned away from Ye Mom and walked to the door, slamming it shut behind him as he left. 0

Ye Mom was left feeling hopeless. 0

She had indeed been ill in the past, but after taking medication for so long, she had recovered. The events that had transpired were too bizarre; she needed to tell her son, Ye Chenfeng. 0

Rising from her seat, Ye Mom picked up the phone and dialed Ye Chenfeng's number. 0

The call connected—an intense heat surged from within her body. Terrified, Ye Mom widened her eyes and touched her stomach. Then, with a painful cry, a burst of flames erupted from her mouth. In an instant, she transformed into a pile of ash. 0

Hearing his wife's scream, Ye Dad realized she was once again resorting to her theatrics of crying and causing a scene. He turned up the volume on the television until it rattled the window frames. When neighbors came to inquire about the commotion, he finally lowered the volume. 0

The house fell silent except for the faint sound of Xiang'er crying. 0

That little girl was truly pitiful. So young and already without family, living under someone else's roof—Ye Dad understood all too well what it felt like to be dependent on others. 0

At the hospital. 0

"Ding Li finally spoke up, saying, 'Ye Chenfeng, let's break up!' 0

'How can you say that!' Ye Chenfeng grasped her hand, noticing her pale face devoid of color and the coolness of her skin. Despite holding it for a long time, there was no warmth. 0

Ding Li's heart had grown cold. 0

A person with a cold heart cannot be warmed, no matter how much you try. 0

'It's because I'm useless. I... I won't be able to have children anymore.' Ding Li had suffered a miscarriage, and the doctor told her that she would not be able to conceive again. This news left her despondent and deeply depressed. 0

A woman who cannot bear children is an incomplete woman. 0

How could someone as outstanding as Ye Chenfeng want an incomplete woman? That’s why Ding Li insisted on breaking up. 0

To be honest, Ye Chenfeng was shocked when he heard Ding Li say she would never have children. 0

The words of that strange person from Zhanglin Village still echoed in his mind. As long as he had a child, he could break the cycle of time, and his misfortunes would change. 0

With Ding Li unable to bear children, it seemed he truly was destined to remain childless. 0

Perhaps it was just as stated in The Ghost-Quaking Scripture: those who eat food from the living world but walk the path of the dead are in danger, thus destined to have no descendants." 0
