Ding Li thought that Ye Chenfeng was being overly sensitive. 0

He was in Ancient River Town while Su Bei was in Purple City, a distance that was worlds apart. How could they possibly be connected? 0

Since they missed the Shuttle, they had no choice but to nibble on bread while waiting for the afternoon Shuttle. 0

In the bustling station, Ye Chenfeng suddenly noticed a particularly pale face in the crowd. The impression it left on him was striking, reminiscent of a corpse's face in a morgue, with eyes that emitted a chilling light. 0

Ye Chenfeng shivered and focused his gaze, but the crowd continued to ebb and flow, and that jarring face had vanished from view. 0

Ding Li ate her food delicately, taking small bites. Noticing Ye Chenfeng staring into the crowd, she initially thought he must be captivated by an attractive woman. However, seeing only a group of ordinary people, she curiously asked, "What are you looking at?" 0

"Nothing," Ye Chenfeng replied, retracting his gaze to smirk at Ding Li. "Just looking at you." 0

"Looking at me?" Ding Li tossed her food wrapper into the nearest trash can and sat down beside him, feigning innocence. "What about me?" 0

"You look great," Ye Chenfeng said, leaning closer to her and inhaling her scent. He whispered, "If we miss the train today, we should get a room." 0

"Go ahead," Ding Li pushed him away playfully. Noticing Ye Chenfeng's eyes gleaming as they fixated on her collar, she felt her cheeks flush and nervously adjusted her clothing. "You're so bad." 0

Ye Chenfeng indeed caught a glimpse of something tantalizing that made his mouth water. Reluctantly pulling his gaze away, he pouted and said, "What's the big deal? It's bound to happen sooner or later." 0

"You dare," Ding Li pretended to threaten him with mock anger. 0

"What’s there to be afraid of?" Ye Chenfeng replied casually, pointing to another side. "Su Bei's mother is coming again." 0

"Ah, where?" Ding Li exclaimed in surprise and quickly turned to look. Suddenly, she felt a soft peck on her cheek from Ye Chenfeng's playful ambush. She covered her face shyly as her heart raced like a startled deer. She longed to be close to Ye Chenfeng; being near him made her feel safe, but she wasn't sure how much she meant to him. 0

Ye Chenfeng was just having a bit of fun and was completely unaware of Ding Li's emotional turmoil. When he saw the shuttle arriving, he stood up and pulled her along to board. 0

Once on the shuttle, he found a handkerchief that looked unremarkable and dirty. In this day and age, few people used such handkerchiefs. He glanced around at the other passengers before noticing an elderly woman sitting by the door who looked about the same age as his grandmother. Her eyes seemed clouded with cataracts as she stared blankly ahead, indifferent to their presence. 0

Ding Li picked up the handkerchief and handed it to her. "Excuse me, is this your handkerchief?" 0

Hearing the shout, the old woman twisted her neck with a creaking sound, and Ding Li could clearly hear the noise of her bones, reminiscent of the clicking mechanism of a puppet toy. 0

She was startled and timidly took a step back, handing the handkerchief to Ye Chenfeng. 0

Ye Chenfeng took the handkerchief and passed it to the old woman. 0

The old woman received the handkerchief, her murky eyes fixed on Ding Li and Ye Chenfeng for a long time, as if she could truly see their expressions, sending chills down their spines. 0

To Ye Chenfeng, it seemed that Ding Li was afraid of this old woman. Perhaps it was because of his grandmother; he felt a sense of dread towards this seemingly lonely figure. He tightly clutched Ding Li's arm and walked backward. After a few steps, Ye Chenfeng suddenly stopped and slowly turned to look at the old woman. 0

He had found it strange earlier; her face was unnaturally pale. 0

Ye Chenfeng recalled the face he had seen in the crowd. 0

This old woman was too peculiar; her cloudy eyes, clearly cataracts, should have rendered her unable to see them, yet it felt as if she was staring right at him and Ding Li. 0

"What are you looking at?" 0

Ding Li, fearing that someone might overhear, glanced nervously at the motionless old woman sitting down and quickly lowered his head. 0

"Nothing." 0

Ye Chenfeng remembered that two hours ago, Ding Li had asked him this same question. Right! What was she looking at? Uncontrollably, he looked back at the old woman. She remained unchanged, staring straight ahead as if there were something in front of her that she could never get enough of. 0

Perhaps the old woman was too lonely and rarely went out, which explained why her face appeared so pale aside from the wrinkles. 0

Ye Chenfeng and Ding Li sat in the last row. 0

This way, they could enjoy the scenery while also observing the old woman's actions. 0

Finally, the vehicle set off. 0

Ticket Seller stood at the door with both hands on the door and shouted loudly: "This is the last bus to Men'er Gou. If you miss it, you have to wait until tomorrow." Canglang - the car vibrated, and the original Click to go. Ye Chenfeng I didn’t want to enjoy the scenery along the way. Besides, it was already autumn, so there weren’t any good scenery to see. He closed his eyes and fell asleep. He particularly liked the feeling of the car rocking and moving, as if he was sitting in a cradle. Ding Li didn't dare to sleep. She opened her eyes wide and looked at everyone in the car, occasionally glancing at the scary old woman at the front door. The car is a short-distance car, and people are getting on and off at one moment. I don’t know how many times the car stopped, but Ding Li suddenly found that the old woman was missing. "Ye Chenfeng...Ye Chenfeng wake up." When I heard Ding Li shouting, there were not many people left in the car, only a few dozen people. "What's the matter?" "The old woman is missing." Ding Li said in a mysterious tone and nervously. What's so strange about this? They might have gotten off the bus long ago. Ye Chenfeng felt that Ding Li was neurotic, he smiled and said: "Silly girl, the old lady got off the bus, can you still go to Men'er Gou with us?" Ding Li nodded and said: " Also..." Suddenly he remembered something, and he covered his mouth in surprise and said, "Do you think it's impossible for her to leave alone?" Ye Chenfeng didn't realize what he meant by this. "Why. Can't..." He suddenly woke up and said in surprise: "She can't see." After thinking for a moment, he saw Ding Li's eyes full of fear and laughed quickly: "Silly girl, can't anyone help her if she can't see?" I really didn’t see anyone helping the old woman get out of the car. She firmly believed that her eyes had not been lazy all this time, and she just stared at everyone in the car. Occasionally, she would look at the new people who got on the car, and it would only happen every second. Ye Chenfeng felt that the old lady had nothing to do with them, and only those who were idle would get entangled with an irrelevant person. He comforted Ding Li with a few words, and then saw that Men'er Gou was coming soon, and reminded him She gets out of the car. After getting out of the car, Ding Li felt sore all over. He stretched out his arms and kicked his legs. After finishing looking at Ye Chenfeng, he ran to look at the Missing Person Notice on the telephone pole, and muttered: "What are you looking at?" Let’s go.” 0

Ye Chenfeng indeed went to look at a piece of paper on the telephone pole, but it was not a Missing Person Notice; instead, it was a junk advertisement about treatments for impotence and abortion. 0

It was still the same telephone pole, but it seemed the Missing Person Notice had been removed. 0

Seeing Ye Chenfeng's disappointment, Ding Li repeated, "Let's go!" 0

"Okay." 0

Ye Chenfeng and Ding Li noticed that it was getting late and hurried towards Grandma's House. 0

Some passersby spotted them and curiously called out, "Aren't you Fang Xianpo's grandson?" 0

Fang Xianpo was Ye Chenfeng's grandmother. 0

Ye Chenfeng smiled and replied, "Yes." It was great that someone recognized him. Since they were on the way, he inquired about the body that had been recovered last time. The rural aunt mentioned that the identity of the body had not yet been confirmed, and it was still at the funeral home without any processing. At least they hadn't heard any news about the body. 0

"Oh." 0

"Fang Xianpo went to your house; why are you back now?" The rural aunt was always curious about why people from big cities would come here to suffer. The roads were difficult to navigate, and the food in the mountains wasn't as delicious as in the city. 0

"I forgot to bring my grandmother's ointment; I specifically came back to get it." Anyone who knew Ye Chenfeng's grandmother was aware that she suffered from severe rheumatism. While the ointment couldn't cure her condition, it could help manage the pain. 0

"Oh." The rural aunt's eyes kept darting towards Ding Li, thinking to herself that this girl was quite pretty; she must be Fang Xianpo's granddaughter's girlfriend. 0

Ding Li felt embarrassed under her gaze and quickly looked away, saying, "People from big cities are just so good-looking; the more you look, the prettier they become." 0

In no time, the rural aunt parted ways with Ye Chenfeng and Ding Li, one heading towards the east of the village and the other towards the west. 0

For some reason, as they got closer to Grandma's house, Ye Chenfeng felt an indescribable sense of unease. Not only that, but Ding Li also felt anxious and kept asking why they hadn't arrived yet. 0

Finally, they reached their destination. From a distance, they saw the lush Purple Bamboo Forest, which only heightened their trepidation. 0

The Azure Tile House was covered in moss, and the gutter was filled with fallen leaves, including tree leaves and Purple Bamboo Leaves. The leaves had rotted away, giving rise to clusters of green grass, while two massive Spider Webs hung under the eaves. In one of the Spider Webs, a large spider crouched in the center, causing Ding Li to freeze in fear from a distance. 0

Ye Chenfeng picked up a stick made from Purple Bamboo from the ground and poked at the Spider Web, startling the big spider into a quick retreat across its web. 0

Ding Li screamed in fright. 0

Ye Chenfeng thought Ding Li was being overly dramatic. 0

After dropping the bamboo stick, he noticed that the Purple Bamboo Forest looked as if it had been ravaged; many Purple Bamboos lay toppled on the ground, remnants of logging scattered everywhere. It seemed that his grandmother was not home, and the villagers had banded together to cut down her Purple Bamboo. 0

Ding Li was astonished. "Aren't they afraid your grandmother will come back for revenge?" 0

"Desolate mountains and treacherous waters breed cunning people." Ye Chenfeng approached the door, and as he opened it, a chilling wind rushed out, making him shiver involuntarily. He raised his eyes and thought he saw a figure flash by inside. 0

"Who’s there?" 0

At Ye Chenfeng's shout, Ding Li clung to his arm again, too scared to step inside. 0

"Don't be afraid; I'm here." Ye Chenfeng reassured her as he led Ding Li step by step into the house. 0

Ding Li's sharp eyes caught sight of a series of strange footprints on the ground, and she screamed in terror, "Ah! What is that?" 0
