Chapter 68: Fateful Path (Part Twenty-Seven) 0

With a heart full of concern for her child, Li Luwen's mother had red, swollen eyes from crying. As we entered, she slowly stood up, her gaze filled with hope and anticipation. 0

Li Luwen's attending physician was at a loss, rendered speechless by Li Luwen's mother’s sharp words. He stood there awkwardly, unsure whether to leave or stay. It wasn't until Chi Xinrong arrived and told him, "You can go back to your work," that he finally left. 0

Ignoring everyone else, Li Luwen's mother turned to me and said, "Big brother, please take a look at her..." 0

"Don't worry, Auntie. I'll check," I replied. Faced with Li Luwen's dire condition, it was easy for someone unfamiliar with medicine to think that if the doctors couldn't help, how could an untrained person like me? Such thoughts were not unfounded; there were many charlatans in the world who deceived people for food and money, leading them away from proper treatment and sometimes resulting in tragic outcomes. 0

So dear readers, it is important to trust science and not rely solely on mystical arts to save lives. However, Li Luwen was an exception; she had truly been possessed and manipulated by an Evil Sorcerer, causing her soul to leave her body and harm others. In such cases, it was rare for anyone to fully recover. 0

She seemed to have experienced a terrifying nightmare. Even after waking up, her consciousness remained tense and fearful. Her body felt unfamiliar due to the prolonged separation from her soul. Her current situation was grim; her Three Souls were unable to return to their rightful places. She appeared dazed and confused, with only one soul present while the other two wandered aimlessly. The Seven Spirits were also scattered. 0

What I needed to do now was dive into her consciousness and search for the lost souls. 0

I instructed Qin Jian to act as a guard at the door while Chi Xinrong comforted the sobbing Li Luwen's mother. Zhang Xian was tasked with keeping time. Preparations included filling a rectangular bathtub with water that could facilitate mediumship; as long as my mind was focused, I could locate the memories and souls that Li Luwen lost during her out-of-body experience. 0

Due to her memory loss and lack of spiritual support, she had become lost elsewhere. Before entering Li Luwen's consciousness, I carefully asked her mother about Li Luwen's hobbies and whether she had any romantic interests aside from her interactions with Zhang Xian and others. Once I had all the necessary information, I lay in the water and instructed Zhang Xian to remember to call Qin Jian to pull me out after five minutes; if he delayed, it would mean certain death for me. 0

With everything ready, access to Li Luwen's hospital room was restricted to outsiders. Qin Jian stood guard at the door while Zhang Xian, Chi Xinrong, and Li Luwen's mother waited outside. 0

I stepped into the bathtub; the cold water seeped through my clothes and chilled my neck and arms—so cold! The water gradually submerged my chest and neck as I felt my breathing quicken under pressure. A wave of icy air swept over me; I desperately wanted to stand up but couldn’t. Slowly, I closed my eyes— 0

The next moment I opened my eyes, the surroundings had changed. The predominant color was gray; everything was static. There was no sign of Qin Jian; the lights flickered above me while the walls appeared old and worn. This place resembled a former version of City Hospital—it might have once been a small-town clinic that gradually evolved into a county hospital as the population grew before finally becoming City Hospital itself. 0
I didn't know what era I had entered after leaving the real world. The moment I opened my eyes, I found myself lying in a bathtub. I got up lightly and walked out of the room, only to find a long, dimly lit corridor stretching before me. 0

The lights in the corridor were faint, and I couldn't see anyone around; all I could tell was that it was nighttime. 0

I was puzzled. I had clearly followed the consciousness of Li Luwen here, yet I ended up in such a strange and seemingly insignificant place. 0

Just as I was caught in this dilemma, a noisy commotion came from the end of the corridor. It was the sound of wheels from a moving hospital bed. A nurse was pushing the cart toward me, and I quickly stepped aside into the nearest empty patient room. 0

Fortunately, there was no one in this room. It felt empty, but the blankets on the bed were neatly arranged. To my surprise, just as I entered and barely caught my breath, I heard the sound of wheels approaching this very room. 0

Maybe they would just pass by and not come in. 0

I reassured myself, trying to alleviate the pressure caused by my anxiety. 0

What happened next was beyond my expectations. The door suddenly swung open, pushed by a girl in a white nurse's uniform. Then, a moving hospital bed arrived, and someone lifted a person off it. I hid under the bed against the wall and saw that they were carrying an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl, while the person lifting her was an older man. 0

The man looked quite shabby, clearly someone from the countryside. The girl seemed to be his daughter, and behind them followed a Young Woman. At first glance, I didn't recognize her, but upon closer inspection, I couldn't help but be astonished. 0

This Young Woman was none other than Li Luwen's mother. 0

I remembered that Li Luwen's mother had a mole near her left ear on her lower eyelid. This mole held significance; it represented something special. Since Li Luwen was her daughter, this mole symbolized the hardships her daughter would face throughout her life. 0

The mole under her mother's eye signified the struggles that would accompany her daughter throughout her life. 0

Perhaps it was destined for me to experience this moment. If it weren't for that mole, I would have truly thought I had come to the wrong place. If this Young Woman is Li Luwen's mother, then the girl on the hospital bed must be Li Luwen herself? After settling his daughter down, the older man seemed to have urgent matters to attend to and left without looking back. 0

Li Luwen was with her mother, who was asking, "Wenwen, are you feeling any better?" 0

Li Luwen nodded. Since she was receiving an IV, she didn't want to speak and soon drifted off to sleep. 0

Meanwhile, some family members from the neighboring ward peeked in curiously and asked, "What illness does your daughter have?" 0

"Oh, my poor daughter. At such a young age, she has worms in her gallbladder." 0

Li Luwen's mother forced a smile and invited them to come in and sit down. Just as they were about to enter, the attending physician arrived. He was a serious-looking man who came in without an assistant. He glanced at the sleeping patient and addressed her mother, "Are you her mom?" 0

"Yes." 0

"The patient's name is Li Luwen? She just underwent a cleansing procedure and received medication. A lot of worms were expelled; they've already been broken down, so I won't show them to you as it's quite disgusting. Please step outside for a moment while I check on her condition." 0
