Chapter 6: Fateful Path (Part 21) 0

"Are you really going to discharge her like this?" I leaned closer to the hospital bed and took a careful look at the patient. Suddenly, a flash of recognition struck me; this face seemed familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. 0

"Well, we can't afford it. The hospital has already stopped her medication. Rather than waiting here for her to die, it would be better to take her home," the middle-aged woman sighed. 0

I hadn't found the mysteriously appearing Evil Sorcerer, but I had stumbled upon this unfortunate situation. I frowned and asked, "What exactly happened? Can you tell me? Maybe I can help." 0

The woman sat down, sighed heavily, and gently stroked the clothes piled beside her. "My daughter’s name is Li Luwen. Her father chose that name. This poor child has had a hard life. Because of her name, she was mocked by others. After struggling to grow up and getting into medical school, she faced ridicule and bullying during her internship at the hospital. She was pushed down one night, and while she seemed fine at first, afterward she became lethargic and kept falling asleep. I had no choice but to rush here from the countryside. By the time I arrived, my daughter was already in critical condition at this hospital—her first place of internship." 0

"Are you sure this is the hospital where your daughter interned and where she was mistreated?" 0

"Yes, at this point, there's no reason for me to lie," the woman replied with a heavy sigh. "It's strange; my daughter doesn’t have any major issues—she just can’t wake up, as if she’s in a deep sleep. The hospital has been covering her treatment costs so far, but after several months, it’s become a significant expense. They proposed that they would cover most of it while we pay half to continue her treatment. We really don’t have any money left now; I don’t want to waste more time on her either—I’ve lost hope... sob..." 0

Li Luwen was indeed an unusual name; "Luwen" sounded like "dog," which made me understand the girl's plight even more. However, I couldn't comprehend why the hospital would cover most of the medical expenses yet still require the family to pay half while cutting off medication midway. 0

If the hospital intended to save this person, they shouldn’t be stingy with treatment costs. In other words, if they bore no responsibility, why would they voluntarily pay for treatment? It couldn’t just be because she was an intern there! 0

Despite my many questions, considering the woman's suffering made me decide to investigate further. 0

"Auntie, don’t worry. A friend of mine happens to be a shareholder in this hospital. Let me ask him if it's necessary to continue treatment! It wouldn’t be good to take her home and delay her condition." 0

"Really? That would be wonderful." The middle-aged woman thanked me profusely as she escorted me to the door. As I stepped outside, I suddenly remembered that mysteriously appearing Evil Sorcerer and paused again. I took out a talisman and handed it to her: "Stick this on her back; it will keep her safe." 0

"You’re a Yin Yang Master?" The middle-aged woman exclaimed in surprise before quickly explaining, "That might not be necessary; I've already found someone who is helping stabilize my daughter's spirit so that nothing happens during her coma." 0

Her words surprised me; could that previous Evil Sorcerer be the person she found? Doubts filled my mind as I hurried off to find Chi Xinrong for assistance with their situation. 0

The corridor was nearly empty as I quickly returned to Han Lan's hospital room. I noticed Qin Jian deliberately ignoring the incident with the Evil Sorcerer in the restroom, and then I recounted in detail everything I had seen and heard in the ward. Chi Xinrong, who was listening nearby, exclaimed in surprise, "I had no idea such things happened in the hospital!" 0

"You're just a shareholder; you can't be aware of everything. Besides, there are unspoken rules within the industry. Remember, you're only a major shareholder. Although you hold a position, you don't have real power, do you? So these seemingly trivial matters will never be disclosed to you." 0

"Well, I don't believe you. If these people dare to disregard me, I'll fire them." 0

Seeing how effortlessly I had provoked Chi Xinrong, she stormed off to investigate the matter. I couldn't help but smile smugly. This was good; at least I wouldn't owe her any favors. If she could get to the bottom of this, it would be perfect for Li Luwen's proper placement. 0

Noticing my smile, Qin Jian suddenly understood and exclaimed, "Oh, you're being cunning!" 0

After Chi Xinrong left, I turned to Qin Jian seriously and said, "It's not what you think. I actually saw someone who shouldn't have been in the restroom, and then I followed that person to Li Luwen's room. Strangely enough, that person vanished into thin air." 0

Seeing that I wasn't joking, Qin Jian was taken aback and asked, "Who?" 0

"Another Evil Sorcerer." 0

Qin Jian scratched his head in confusion and said, "Lao Qi, how many Evil Sorcerers have you stirred up?" 0

"Qin Jian, listen carefully. I haven't provoked anyone. The key is that good and evil cannot coexist. We belong to the good side while they belong to the evil side. Just like that, I've inexplicably gained enemies. Of course, if I turned a blind eye to what’s happening, perhaps I could even become friends with the Evil Sorcerers." 0

"That's boring; you're dodging the question! Just keep pretending!" We fell silent for a moment as we paced outside the door when suddenly Qin Jian seemed to sense the gravity of the situation and hurriedly asked me, "Since you've seen an Evil Sorcerer, does that mean Han Lan is in danger?" 0

He asked this just as I stepped inside. 0

Han Lan had undergone a transformation after the Demonic Needle treatment; her face looked like it had shed a layer of skin—this was the real Han Lan. Having worn a mask that didn't belong to her for so long made her skin appear dull and lifeless. Although her complexion improved slightly due to the IV drip, she still looked somewhat swollen. Upon seeing me enter, she became uneasy and shifted uncomfortably as if she wanted to turn away from me and face the wall instead. 0

"What's wrong? Are you afraid to see me because of guilt or remorse?" 0

Han Lan remained silent, a glistening tear rolled down from the corner of her eye, slowly trailing down to her ear before finally dropping onto the blanket, leaving a damp spot the size of a five-cent coin. 0

"Stop crying. You need to rest now. If you don't want to talk, you can send me a text message with what you know." I took a few steps away, then added, "It's safe here; neither Qin Jian nor I will leave." 0

"Ma Qi..." 0

I paused but didn't respond to Han Lan's weak call. Instead, I said softly, "Just like that, send me a text message." As I stepped out, Qin Jian looked at me curiously. I shook my head and said, "I hope she honestly confesses the mistakes she's made." 0

Just then, Chi Xinrong and Zhang Xian approached. They informed me of something quite shocking: Li Luwen was not only an intern at City Hospital but also had complicated ties with them. 0

"This matter should be left for her to explain the truth. I've already spoken with other departments regarding Li Luwen's medical expenses; we can deal with that later. Right now, saving her is the priority." Having known Chi Xinrong for so long, I felt she handled this situation remarkably well. 0
