Chapter 8: The Drunken Mad Girl 0

It was over. If Qin Jian had something going on with that Intern, it would definitely be ruined by that Chi Xinrong girl. I snatched Qin Jian's phone, ready to say something, but the other party hung up. 0

"Sigh, Ma Qi, you worry too much. Here, have a drink." She picked up another bottle of beer and started gulping it down. 0

I sighed and shook my head, too lazy to stop her. I quickly looked for a designated driver while she was still somewhat sober. 0

Once I found a driver, I continued drinking with Chi Xinrong. That girl, beer wasn't enough for her; she brought out some whiskey mixed with ice. "Ma Qi, this is foreign liquor. Have you ever tried it?" 0

"Nope, but it can't be worse than this. Let's go." 0

We kept drinking—one cup after another, one bottle after another—our faces flushed and gradually darkening as the full moon rose in the sky. The foot traffic outside didn’t decrease at all, especially in the skewer shop where we were; it was packed. 0

Amidst the noisy chatter, a loud voice suddenly shouted, "Who ordered a designated driver?" 0

I instantly understood; the driver had arrived, and this time it was for real. 0

Looking through bleary eyes, I saw a man in a khaki uniform standing at the door, looking around. He didn’t bother checking his phone and shouted again with his booming voice, "Who called for a designated driver?" 0

"I did..." 0

Chi Xinrong raised her hand. The man's eyes lit up as he walked toward her. However, upon seeing the two of us men, his expression dimmed slightly, looking quite disappointed yet trying hard to maintain an air of calmness. "Is this all?" I thought that if we weren’t there, he would have been staring at her cleavage without shame and probably had some indecent thoughts about her on the way. 0

His next actions confirmed that my assumptions weren’t just paranoid or lewd. One of us big men was slumped over and motionless while the other leaned awkwardly to watch him. Yet he chose to help Chi Xinrong instead, his rough and hairy arms brushing against her delicate white hands. 0
"Step aside, I'll help." I stumbled to my feet and pushed him away, then supported the limp Chi Xinrong. I could see her annoyance, but she didn't dare to express it because we were her employers, so she reluctantly helped Qin Jian. 0

Qin Jian mumbled, "Come on, no turning back now." Then he tilted his head and fell silent. 0

Both Chi Xinrong and Qin Jian had decent cars. They weren't luxury vehicles that symbolized status, but they were certainly not something an average person could easily own. 0

Only one person came to drive for us, and that was the one driving Qin Jian's car. After parking Chi Xinrong's car in the designated spot at the skewers shop, the driver let Qin Jian sit in the front to give directions. Given Qin Jian's state, I seriously doubted he could manage that; his mind was likely a jumbled mess by now. 0

"He can't do it; I'll take over." 0

So, Chi Xinrong and Qin Jian settled into the back seat. 0

I took the passenger seat while the driver sat behind the wheel. 0

After driving for a while, the driver introduced himself as Dai Bin. I noted his name. Then he asked me where we were headed, and naturally, I said it was to Chi Xinrong's place first. 0

Chi Xinrong lived in a villa left to her by her Uncle. I had been there twice, so I should be able to find it easily. 0

I had to admit that my alcohol tolerance was better than theirs; at least I was still somewhat sober and knew how to get there. 0

The night in the big city was beautiful, like an alluring mature woman or a graceful lady radiating charm and elegance. It attracted people of all ages to step out of their homes and linger in the dazzling nightlife filled with bright lights and vibrant colors. 0

After dropping Chi Xinrong off, I still needed to help her take off her shoes. I thought about unbuttoning her clothes but hesitated for some reason and ultimately gave up. Dai Bin and Qin Jian were still waiting for me in the car. I turned around to switch off the lights and placed the key I had taken from her bag down. My finger was still on the switch when Chi Xinrong suddenly vomited. 0

Damn! I hurriedly grabbed a towel to clean up her mess, nearly making me sick in the process. 0

The European-style crystal chandelier with its bronze sheen illuminated her delicate, rosy face, making her even more stunning and enchanting. My legs felt as heavy as lead, unable to move an inch. I desperately wanted to kiss her, but another voice in my head warned me: "No, have you forgotten about Mi?" 0

Just as I was about to turn away decisively, ignoring her alluring beauty and captivating figure, she unexpectedly grabbed my arm, her moist lips parting slightly. "Don't go, stay with me..." 0

At that moment, my heart raced wildly as she held onto me; it was impossible not to feel stirred. Ultimately, reason triumphed over desire. I pried her fingers off one by one, then covered her with the blanket and turned off the light before striding out. 0

As I stepped outside, I couldn't help but feel a bit foolish. She had pulled me in; I could have indulged myself completely, tearing through the outer packaging and savoring the inner feast. But I wasn't the kind of person to take advantage of someone; doing so would be no different from being one of those scum in society. Right, I, Ma Qi, was a gentleman and should act like one. With that thought in mind, I forced a smile. 0

Dai Bin had been waiting impatiently and called me to hurry up. "The Sichuanese are tough; you better get here fast." I didn't hang up but dashed into the supermarket in the villa area to buy a bottle of ice water, planning to use it on Qin Jian before rushing out through the villa gates. 0

Seeing the ice water in my hand, Dai Bin frowned. "Add the phone bill to your payment; pay via WeChat." 0

"Damn, how stingy!" 0

Once in the car, I poured the ice water over Qin Jian's head and face. Startled by the cold water, he immediately opened his eyes and instinctively wiped his face while cursing, "Ma Qi, are you trying to kill me?" 0

"Buddy, you really do get drunk just by touching alcohol. You didn’t seem to drink much earlier; how did you end up like this?" 0

"Am I drunk?" Qin Jian finally noticed he was in his own car with a stranger driving—Dai Bin. "Who is he?" 0

"Your designated driver." 0

"I called for a driver?" 0

"Otherwise?" 0

"Alright, where is that location?" 0

"Siming North Road." 0

"Siming North Road, turn left onto Shumen South Road, then right past Blue Moon Square and go straight." This was my first time visiting Qin Jian's home. I had long wanted to meet his mother and wondered what impression she had of me. 0

I vaguely remembered what his mother looked like from my last visit. The thought of meeting a relative I had imagined countless times suddenly filled me with an inexplicable anxiety. It was a mix of nervousness and excitement. 0

The car drove into a busier street, where the dazzling neon lights illuminated the vibrant fruits that lacked luster. I turned to Dai Bin and said, "Can you stop up ahead?" 0

Qin Jian had already mapped out the route, but the effects of the ice water had worn off, and he continued to doze off, seemingly oblivious to my request. 0

"Let's take a look up ahead." 0
