Chapter 61: Problems
They fell silent, as if nothing had happened, and a good night's sleep was essential.
But I was in trouble.
I had spent the entire night entangled with Yin Yin, her complaining cries echoing in my ears. I turned a blind eye and was forced into a Yin Marriage. If anyone were to be blamed for this, it should be Fatty. After all, it was Yin Yin who came to take Fatty's life before; I had placed protective talismans on him, so even if Yin Yin showed up, he would be safe with all those charms surrounding him.
Just when I went to the hospital to seek help, Fatty had already messed up all the talismans on himself and hadn’t had the chance to fix them. Chi Xinrong came with me to the Funeral Home.
When Fatty saw Chi Xinrong, his eyes lit up, filled with murderous intent that overshadowed any concern for life or death.
This guy was completely blinded by desire, disregarding everything else.
Later on, when I realized that faking death and burying him to fool Yin Yin might lead to unexpected consequences, I hung a Peach Wood Sword on Fatty. Damn it, I overlooked the fact that I initially foresaw death; not only did Yin Yin want revenge on Fatty, but she also wanted to settle scores with me.
Fatty dodged a bullet, but I nearly died at the hands of the Evil Spirit Yin Yin. If it weren't for Lao Luo arriving just in time, I would have been dead by now.
Tonight, Yin Yin was bothering me because her Dao Bottle was right beside me.
Unable to withstand her persistence any longer, I got up and promised the Dao Bottle, "Girl, stop being so tangled up. I will definitely help you get rid of the Yin Marriage and give you a grand burial. Your family can chant the Diamond Sutra for you, and you'll have a chance at reincarnation. You can rest easy and stop tormenting me, alright?"
After saying that, I was just too tired and fell back asleep.
I slept deeply until well past noon.
The first thing I did upon waking was check on the two girls.
They had caused quite a ruckus all night long. Despite the bustling streets filled with people coming and going, it hadn’t affected their sleep at all; they were still soundly asleep.
Fatty tended to sleep heavily, especially since he was in Grandpa's bedroom. So any noise from the counter woke me up first; he wouldn’t hear a thing.
Early in the morning at Ma Wu Funeral Home came none other than Yin Yin's father. Along with him were Han Mi's family members. Although Han Mi might not return home, they were still worried and came early to check things out.
Mi's Mother was a simple and honest rural woman. She smiled awkwardly at me and said, "Sigh, my daughter has grown up; she doesn't listen to me anymore. I'm just glad she didn't cause you any trouble last night." I could tell from Mi Mother's words that she was worried about her daughter being deceived or bullied.
I thought about how Mi hadn’t returned home; her old-fashioned father must be furious enough to spit blood. But they knew Han Mi’s temperament best—once she set her mind on something, no one could stop her. After she had stirred up trouble at Xie Ming Manor and barely escaped with her life, it was clear she intended to spend her life with me.
I brought over two stools and respectfully invited them to sit down. Then, apologetically, I said, "Mi is sleeping; I'll go call her." Honestly, I couldn't face Yin Yin's family because they were still unaware that their daughter had been secretly matched in a Yin Marriage. This uncertainty was what caused the unrest in the household.
"Now that they're together, I think this matter is settled," I overheard Yin Yin's father saying to Mi's mother as I walked in. I couldn't help but feel a bit amused and quickened my pace to the back room. After calling out a few times, they finally heard me and opened the door, revealing that they were already dressed and ready to go.
I turned to Han Mi and said, "Your mom is here."
"My mom is here?" Han Mi glanced at Chi Xinrong with an unhappy expression and muttered something before striding ahead and stepping outside.
"Ma Qi, are you playing both sides?" Chi Xinrong asked coldly, her piercing gaze fixed on me.
Don't pin this kind of thing on Ma Qi. I smirked and teased, "What do you mean? I'm not that kind of person, beautiful. You must be mistaken."
Chi Xinrong let out a cold laugh as if she were at home, picking up a broom and sweeping it toward me. Damn it! I jumped and reached for the broom, but she nimbly dodged away, laughing heartily.
"What are you two doing?" A loud voice interrupted us; it was Han Mi's sister, her face dark with anger.
I stopped and forced a smile. "It's nothing; she... don't think too much about it."
Chi Xinrong casually swept the corner with the broom, casting a disdainful glance at Han Mi. With an alluring smile and a mysterious tone, she said to her, "Do you want to know what he just said to me?"
"Don't listen to her, Mi; you can't trust what she says."
Clearly, my warning fell on deaf ears. Han Mi was intrigued and pressed further, "What did he say?"
Seeing that someone had taken the bait, Chi Xinrong was delighted inside. Despite trying to appear mature and composed, her suppressed glee was evident in her expression.
Han Mi was impatient.
Chi Xinrong was confident of her victory.
I crossed my arms and watched coldly; I wanted to see what this little brat would say to get back at me.
"He said the airport is boring and then confessed that he likes me..." Hearing this from Chi Xinrong left Han Mi stunned, tears welling up in her eyes.
I was furious; there was no way to explain this situation. Watching Han Mi stomp out in anger made my blood boil. I snapped at her without holding back, "Chi Xinrong, how could I not have anticipated you'd do this? Are you... going crazy over men?"
"Ma Qi, with you? You don't deserve it." Chi Xinrong grinned triumphantly as she successfully drove Han Mi away. However, my words stung deeply; she gritted her teeth, tossed aside the broom in frustration, let out a cold laugh like a gust of wind, grabbed her things from inside without looking back, hesitated for a moment at the door, then strode out decisively.
Fat woke up half an hour after Chi Xinrong left. That guy clearly hadn't slept well last night; he had been tossing and turning, leaving his face looking as pale as a Corpse Face, with dark circles under his eyes. He walked around like he was exhausted, constantly yawning.
He took a look around and came over to me, asking, "Where are the two girls?"
I couldn't stand his attitude, especially when he mentioned the two girls. Anger bubbled up inside me. Damn it, the thought of him possibly fantasizing about Han Mi made me feel sick.
Without thinking, I grabbed him by the collar and lifted him up. He struggled desperately, making unpleasant sounds from his throat. I shouted, "Stop it! If you keep this up, someone is going to get hurt!"
"I didn't do anything, Brother Qi! I swear I didn't do anything last night. Let me go!"
"Didn't do anything? How did you end up like this then?" I had seen online that there were shameless people who couldn't tell day from night, getting themselves into trouble and ending up in the Underworld. Fat hadn't done that, so how had he weakened so much in just one night? It was too easy for me to lift him up.
There had to be something wrong. I released Fat and asked him what had happened while he was sleeping last night.
