Chapter 046: The Fat One Got Hit 0

Where could I possibly go in the dead of night? 0

It's just another female ghost, what's there to be afraid of! 0

Don't get me wrong; I'm not running away. Instead, I'm calmly ignoring the fierce expression of the ghost and heading straight into the house to rest in my usual spot. 0

What? I've learned quite a bit from Grandpa too. 0

Plus, with my innate abilities, there's no way a female ghost can ruin my peaceful dreams! 0

I activated the Invisibility Talisman and used the Bagua Technique. No matter how powerful the ghost is, it has to think twice before approaching me. 0

The ghost dared not come near. 0

But damn it, I ended up having a strange dream. 0

In the dream, there was a funeral. 0

A Black Veil Portrait, dim lighting, and flower wreaths everywhere. 0

The person in the portrait looked so familiar; the more I looked, the more it seemed like me. 0

Someone was crying. 0

To my surprise, the one crying was Fat. 0

He cried uncontrollably, tears and snot streaming down his face, shouting, "Brother Qi, you can't die! What will I do if you die?" 0

Damn it. 0

This hypocritical guy. 0

I walked toward the coffin. 0

Inside the coffin, I really couldn't bear to look at myself. I looked like a corpse, with a pale face, dressed in a blue burial outfit, and a bouquet of flowers placed on my chest, as if I had been through some kind of beautification. My lips were coated with a light shade of lipstick, and my eyebrows were groomed, giving me a somewhat delicate appearance. 0

As I leaned in closer to take a look, suddenly the tightly shut eyes opened wide, and the stiff face revealed a sinister smile. Those pale lips moved slightly and said, "You’re here." 0

Those three words—"You’re here"—carried an endless chill, like the winter wind blowing against my face. 0

I couldn't help but shiver, feeling a deep pain in my face, the kind that penetrated into my skin. 0

At the same time, lying in the coffin, I reached out and grabbed the coffin lid with a loud clap and slowly began to rise. 0

I stepped back. 0

He approached me with that sinister smile. 0

I went to slap the crying fat guy. 0

He didn’t move. 0

I shouted, "It’s a trap!" At that shout, my whole body jolted. Damn it, a blinding light stung my eyes. I hurriedly raised my hand to shield myself and finally saw that I was still in the dilapidated house, with the sun shining brightly outside. 0

Light streamed in through the broken window, illuminating the entire room with brilliance. 0

I stepped out of the Dilapidated House, performed a hand gesture, and said, "Excuse me," before striding purposefully toward Ma Wu Funeral Home. 0

Before I got close to Ma Wu Funeral Home, I could hear a commotion. 0

There were both men and women, and quite a few of them. 0

They were surrounding someone, pointing fingers and even spitting. 0

A few men were shoving and pushing, forcing someone against the wall and starting to throw punches. 0

This was the first time something like this had happened at Ma Wu Funeral Home since my grandfather's passing. 0

I didn't yet know who was being beaten, but since it involved Ma Wu Funeral Home, I had to intervene. 0

I sprinted forward and quickly reached the scene—someone spotted me, their hostile gaze locking onto me. Their eyes bulged as if they might pop, fists clenched tightly making cracking sounds. 0

What the hell? I was puzzled and couldn't make sense of it. At first glance, these people seemed unfamiliar yet oddly familiar. What were they doing here? 0

"That's Ma Qi! He's in cahoots with that fat guy; he's a con artist!" 0

Upon hearing my name mentioned, the person being beaten seemed to find hope. Desperately, they broke through the crowd, rolling and crawling until they reached me. 0

It was only when they got closer that I realized the person being attacked was Fatty. The current version of him was nothing like the arrogant figure from last night who had chased me away. 0

His face bore five bloody fingerprints from what looked like a brutal beating, his eyes were bloodshot, and there was a blood bag hanging from his head. His clothes were torn to shreds, and his arm was still bleeding. 0

"Brother Qi, save me." 0

A gentleman does not hold grudges against others. 0

Isn't it a bit self-aggrandizing to claim to be a gentleman? 0

Fatty is indeed detestable, but he shouldn't be beaten by these people. If anyone is going to hit him, it should be me doing it myself. 0

I protected Fatty and shouted at the crowd that was getting restless, "What are you doing? Can't we settle this peacefully? Do you even understand that hitting someone is against the law?" 0

An old man with a wrinkled face and gray hair rolled up his sleeves and angrily yelled, "Sparrow, this is all your fault! It's all on you and the Ma Wu Funeral Home. You take our money in large sums but can't get a single thing right. You helped us summon spirits, but all you did was shout nonsense for an entire night. We had to pay for the hospitality of friends and even gave this fatty a big red envelope. In the end, my daughter is still the same, not a bit of improvement." 0

I turned back to Fatty and pinched him hard, cursing, "Is this true?" 0

"Brother Qi, please have mercy and save me, I..." 0

Then, the uncle who had come to buy paper watches glared at Fatty and added, "And about our Yin Yin's funeral, he asked for the child's birth date and promised everything would be fine. But our home has been in turmoil; strange things keep happening. Objects fly around inexplicably, and we hear crying sounds. Our whole family is terrified. Fatty just messes around, taking money without delivering results. Isn't that just cheating?" 0

How many things has Fatty kept from me? 0

Seeing the crowd riled up and ready to turn against Fatty made my blood boil; I wanted to clench my fists and confront them. But in the end, I calmed down. For no other reason than that Grandpa's corpse is still cold; he is in the dark room— 0

As the future head of Ma Wu Funeral Home, I cannot stand by idly nor can I simply cover for him. 0

After pondering for a moment, I addressed them: "I am not aware of this matter. If you give me some time, I will find out what happened and personally help you resolve it. If that still doesn't work, how about you burn down Ma Wu Funeral Home?" 0

Ma Wu Funeral Home is Grandpa's lifelong work. 0

Anyone who knows Grandpa is well aware of the situation. 0

In an instant, the chaotic scene quieted down. 0

Yin Yin's relatives exchanged a few hushed words with the family member who needed to summon her spirit, then shot a glare at Fat. They turned to me and said, "Don't be like this. If you can help us settle this matter, we won't hold any past grievances against you." 0

"Alright, then let Fat go. After all, he is my brother." I had my own struggles; Grandpa entrusted Fat to me and asked me to take good care of him. I couldn't go against Grandpa's wishes, but I also couldn't tolerate the inhumane treatment Fat was receiving. 0

Fat, hearing my words, expressed his gratitude silently by clinging tightly to my leg, repeatedly mumbling apologies. Honestly, I was too fed up to deal with this mess. 0

I led the two victims into the Ma Wu Funeral Home's reception room. 0

Listening closely, I began to understand more. Fat had ignored my advice and refused to take on any jobs. 0

Not only was he secretly accepting jobs on the side, but he was also making outrageous promises and collecting red envelopes. 0

Under the name of Ma Wu Funeral Home, he was taking jobs to help Yin Yin with her funeral and summon spirits for others. 0

Seeing Fat in such a sorry state truly showed that some people just can't help but dig their own graves. 0

What surprised me even more was that one of the girls needing her spirit summoned was Han Mi, the one I had mistakenly mixed up the meeting time with. 0

The true culprit behind Yin Yin's death was Zhu Gang. 0

Yin Yin's body had been carefully restored by a beautician and was now transported back to the funeral home, resting in an ice coffin. 0

Fat was planning Yin Yin's funeral arrangements, but it seemed that things were not going smoothly. Even though the funeral date had been set and she hadn't been buried yet, chaos erupted at home. 0

So, the incident occurred where two victims brought their relatives to attack the Ma Wu Funeral Home and beat up the fat guy. 0

After settling the two victims, I shot a glance at the fat guy. 0

The fat guy murmured, "It's gone." 0

"All that money is gone? Did you spend it on sex or gambling?" 0

"Gambling." 0
