Upon returning to the academy, Shasha noticed that the way the others looked at him was different. When he glanced over, they would either shy away or whisper among themselves. Normally, he wouldn't bother asking, but he caught Glen.
Turning to look at the group of onlookers and then back at Shasha, who wore a rather unfriendly expression, Glen swallowed hard.
“Xia, let’s talk openly. If there’s something you want to ask, I’ll answer honestly.”
Shasha smiled and patted him on the shoulder. “It’s not like I’m sending you to your doom. Don’t look so tragic; just tell me what you were discussing earlier.”
Glen cautiously glanced at Reina in the distance, then leaned in closer and whispered, “It’s about that guy from the church—you and Sister Reina are rumored to be in a relationship.”
Shasha froze for a moment and instinctively turned to glance at Reina, who looked utterly confused. He quickly added in a low voice, “Tell that guy to stop spreading rumors. There’s no way Reina and I have anything going on.”
“But…” Glen wanted to ask more, but Shasha's dangerous gaze silenced him.
After letting Glen go, Shasha nonchalantly returned to Reina's side and feigned casualness. “Nothing much; just some questions they wanted to ask but didn’t know how to approach me.”
Reina looked skeptical. “Is that so?”
“Such matters are beyond a woman’s understanding,” Shasha said mysteriously, causing Reina to lose her curiosity.
As he watched Reina roll her eyes and walk away, Shasha sighed in relief. If she had heard that remark, it would have caused chaos throughout Super God Academy. Who knew if she would get so angry that she might tear the academy apart?
The storm had passed just like that. The night sky was particularly bright, as if showcasing its final brilliance.
Soon enough, those living under this same sky might never see such scenery again; war would destroy everything in sight, even the ones gazing at the view.
The families of Xiong Bing Lian had been secretly relocated. They didn’t even know why they were being forced to move or what their children were doing; everything was orchestrated behind the scenes—something the government had long anticipated.
To put it nicely, it was to relieve them of worries. To put it bluntly, it was to allow them to die without concern.
It wasn’t that Shasha maliciously speculated about the government's actions; leaders must prioritize maximizing benefits. The principle of choosing the lesser evil meant that when necessary, they would make certain sacrifices to fulfill strategic deployments.
Perhaps the creation of Xiong Bing Lian took a great deal of effort, but if they could die with dignity, do you think those leaders wouldn't do so? No one can truly be selfless.
As it turns out, even those saints or noble scholars are the same.
Thus, Shasha would never entrust his life to others, nor would he allow anyone to manipulate him.
He would do whatever he wanted, acting entirely on his own will; that was his intention from the very beginning.
"Why aren't you sleeping at this late hour?" came Reina's voice from beneath the roof.
Shasha peeked out and saw Reina leaning against the railing, resting her chin on her hand as she gazed up at the starry sky. "It's rare for the night to be this beautiful; if I don't take a look now, I might not get another chance."
Reina nodded in agreement. "That's true."
As soon as she finished speaking, she sprang lightly and appeared beside Shasha in an instant.
"Can you see such a view on Solaris Star?" Shasha asked curiously.
Reina shook her head slowly. "Although Solaris Star has day and night, the Divine River System where it's located doesn't have shining stars. There are only a few luminous stars that prevent the night from being completely dark."
"I've always thought that constellations are fascinating. They form a whole and appear in such vivid ways; it's like a treasure given to humanity by God."
In front of a deity, speaking of God might seem absurd, but Shasha still felt this way.
In this universe, gods are a matter of faith. In reality, all intelligent beings trust science more; after all, they believe that gods can be created.
"God?" Reina shook her head noncommittally. "Perhaps there is one."
Shasha didn't respond. In fact, he was the most qualified to prove that there indeed exist deities and gods in the universe. They created the cosmos, split the star systems, allowed life to evolve, and established rules for existence.
However, he would not, in fact, he did not know how to do so. The actions of Death God Karl were perhaps also a quest for the truth of the universe. Perhaps he believed in the existence of deities and yearned to become one himself.
If death is viewed as the dissection of life, then Death God Karl might as well be considered a scientist.
Perhaps at his core, he sought to understand the origin and essence of life.
If Shasha's thoughts were known to Karl, he might have regarded her as a kindred spirit for a moment.
In fact, that was precisely what he was doing; he was researching and even promoting the evolution of life. He wanted to break through the barriers of the universe and usher in an era where the entire cosmos would enter the void.
If he had taken a gentler approach, it might have been better. But unfortunately, he chose the most radical and difficult path.
In Earth's orbit, a massive wormhole opened in the void, and a Dreadnought slowly emerged.
