If Shasha had previously felt puzzled by Shiyan's hesitations, she now understood.
The so-called Justice Order was a set of rules aimed at eradicating evil, and the process was of no importance to them. It was about sacrificing oneself for a greater cause, and any means could be justified to achieve that end.
The atmosphere instantly froze. With a loud bang, Rosa stood up, glaring fiercely at Shiyan. "Are you threatening us? We on Earth have no obligation to help you eliminate demons."
"Then you can only watch as Earth falls into ruins under the judgment of the Order," Shiyan replied nonchalantly, her expression unchanged as she uttered the chilling words. "You have no idea how formidable Morgana is; her ability to harm a civilization in a star system is absolute. You wouldn't want to face an invasion from Tao Tie while also dealing with a Demon Queen, would you?"
Indeed, as Shiyan had stated, they could only take matters into their own hands. If the Order intervened, it would lead to a three-way war, and Earth would likely meet its end.
Rosa's face flushed with anger, twisting her delicate features slightly. Though it did not diminish her beauty, it certainly made her appear quite uncomfortable.
Ducao remained silent, while Reina fell into deep thought, leaving the atmosphere heavy with tension.
At that moment, Shasha, who had been quiet until now, suddenly spoke up. "I'll handle the matter regarding Morgana."
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone turned their gaze toward Shasha, filled with surprise and confusion.
"Do you even know how powerful Morgana is? She can manipulate dark matter and possesses a third-generation divine body—she's virtually invincible!" Shiyan exclaimed suddenly, leaning forward over the table with an unusually grim expression.
Unfazed by Shiyan's sudden outburst of anger, Shasha replied coolly, "So what?"
Shiyan was taken aback; she realized she couldn't intimidate this person at all. Frustrated, she shot him a glare. "Do whatever you want! But don't expect me to help you find Morgana!"
With that, she vanished in an instant, already outside the range of the Giant Gorge Fleet.
Shasha then turned to Ducao, Rosa, and Reina with wide eyes. After a moment of silence, she slowly said, "Since she doesn't want to help me, I'll leave the intelligence gathering to you all. Is that alright?"
For a moment, no one spoke up. Rosa hesitantly asked, "Are you really determined to face the Fallen Queen on your own?"
"Am I going? Or are you going? I don't recall you having that capability," Shasha replied with a hint of mockery.
Initially concerned that Shasha's actions were reckless and feeling some worry for him, Rosa's demeanor shifted entirely. Now she looked as if she wished he would perish immediately and retorted sharply, "If someone wants to die, can I stop them? Don't worry; I'll definitely provide you with very accurate information to ensure you can find her!"
Shasha stared at her, and when he noticed her face slightly reddening and looking puzzled, he simply smiled and waved his hand. "Forget it, let's move on to another matter."
Just as Rosa was about to ask what the issue was, Ducao nodded and said, "After discussing with the Command Center, we have unanimously agreed to collaborate with Mr. Xia in the form of employment."
Rosa was taken aback by this news. She glanced at Ducao and then at Reina, before turning away in silence. It turned out she was the only one unaware of this situation!
'Does this guy really think that national duty is so worthless? Does he just want to watch death descend upon this world filled with living beings? Cold-blooded and selfish!'
At this moment, Rosa truly began to resent Shasha, realizing their ideologies were fundamentally different.
At least Reina didn’t see anything wrong with Shasha’s actions. After all, they had different stances. Perhaps everyone held a certain reverence, kindness, and compassion for life, but that wasn’t a reason to risk one’s own life.
Even if it was selfishness, he could face the Fallen Queen Morgana, who would make anyone else retreat in fear. Not everyone could do that.
Could she do it? Probably not.
Reina chuckled self-deprecatingly, reflecting on how young Rosa still was.
The employment arrangement meant that Shasha would serve the Black Wall Command Center, enjoying intelligence and equipment while having absolute freedom to support solo operations. However, the prerequisite was that he could not interfere with command operations or disrupt strategic deployments; otherwise, it would be considered a breach of contract, resulting in an involuntary service of fifty years under Xiong Bing Lian.
The terms were reasonable. As for the benefits, receiving national subsidies wasn’t much of a deal. The real perk was that if he failed to accomplish a task, he could make a reasonable request without it being excessive.
Thus, at the very first opportunity after signing the employment contract, Shasha made his first demand.
He wanted the state to support Soton, the super glutton!
This guy had already eaten nearly ten thousand dollars' worth of food from Shasha. Even if he had plenty of money, it wasn’t meant to be spent like this; raising a pet would be far less troublesome and cost thousands less.
Initially prepared for a financial loss, Ducao was stunned by this request but soon felt joy spreading across his face. He eagerly took on Soton's food expenses and even paid out of his own pocket.
Seeing Ducao smiling so broadly made Shasha chuckle inwardly. If he had seen how much Soton could eat, he probably wouldn’t feel so pleased.
Reina noticed something, but she didn't say anything until Ducao left with the contract to prepare for the next steps. The meeting room was left with just her and Shasha.
"I didn't expect you to join in this way," Reina said with a sigh, then smiled brightly. "Later, I'll introduce you to Xiong Bing Lian's Problem Child. There are a few you might know."
Shasha nodded. There was no way to avoid joining; the System forced him to stand against the evil forces.
He calmed his mind and looked at the mission prompt from not long ago, unable to help but smile wryly.
'Side Quest Activated: Teach Morgana a Lesson.'
"The reckless Morgana has descended upon Earth. She is determined to drag our kind into chaos, wantonly using her abilities to create slaughter, treating people like grass. Give her a lesson so she understands that there are always greater powers out there!"
"Mission Completion Rewards: Advanced Ability Extraction x1, Energy Points 4000, Universal Reputation Points 000."
