Indeed, as soon as she opened her mouth, those were the words that came out. She was a woman who had forgotten herself for the ideals in her heart.
Shasha clicked her tongue. "I guess if I were to refuse, you would probably lecture me about national righteousness. So let me put it this way: protecting the Earth can be done in any capacity, and there’s no need to join some so-called organization. Besides, I'm not someone who likes to be controlled, so I'm sorry, but I refuse your request!"
Rosa frowned at her words. "What can you do alone? Only orderly and reasonable deployments and combat arrangements can effectively strike the enemy, not individual heroism."
"You believe teamwork is the best solution to all problems, while I think that what I can do doesn't require anyone else's help." Shasha shrugged. "So, our philosophies are fundamentally different; why must you insist?"
Rosa genuinely thought Shasha was too arrogant. The power of the Tao Tie Civilization had accumulated over millennia, far surpassing Earth in both technology and genetics. It was already difficult for one person to reverse the impending decline. Yet this person wanted to stop it all by herself—what a joke!
"I used to think you were smart, but now I finally understand why arrogance is the most fatal weakness of intelligent people: because arrogance blinds you from seeing yourself clearly!" Huo Ran stood up, coldly staring at Shasha as Rosa turned away without a word.
Watching her leave, Shasha offered no explanation. Whether she was arrogant or self-important was irrelevant; some things were not worth explaining because there was no need.
With Shasha's refusal of Xiong Bing Lian's recruitment, personnel began to solidify.
Currently known among the awakened Divine River Gene warriors in Giant Gorge City were: the underachiever Glen, the old thug Liu Chuang, the female police officer Qilin, and the female Major Rosa—four individuals in total. Subsequently, the command center discovered college student Zhao Xin, farmer Cheng Yaowen, and working girl Rui Mengmeng.
These seven individuals from different backgrounds formed a single-soldier combat unit named Xiong Bing Lian, led by Reina.
Although all seven had awakened the Divine River Gene, they were still far from being able to utilize their abilities. Thus, at the branch of Earth Super God Academy, Reina began training them with the System.
Glen had strong resistance to blows; Liu Chuang possessed immense strength; Qilin was highly focused; Zhao Xin moved as fast as lightning; Cheng Yaowen could manipulate the earth; Rui Mengmeng had developed athletic reflexes; and Du Rose had undergone System training early on and possessed the ability to create wormholes to alter space.
Under Reina's training, these seven unique individuals lived lives filled with both challenges and exhilaration.
In Egypt, at the temple of the Crocodile God.
This world’s history regarding Egypt recorded accounts of the Crocodile God, protector of the Nile River—Crocodile God Soton.
The long-sealed temple, hidden for a thousand years, now welcomed three strangers: two Gluttonous Soldiers and a mysterious figure wearing a skull mask, whom we shall refer to as Skeleton Face.
"Ten thousand years ago, my God Karl passed through this place and created a third-generation Super Soldier named Soton. However, after my God Karl reconciled with the envoy clan, Soton became a victim. Yet my God Karl utilized pseudo-void abilities to completely replicate Soton's genes and integrated them into this temple. I have come here to liberate him," Skeleton Face paused for a moment, adding a note of caution, "But you must be aware that he may have some ingrained notions from his encounters with the envoys."
With that, he placed his hands in the void, and an energy array unfolded. He pointed downwards, and a towering figure resembling both a crocodile and a man instantly took shape before vanishing into thin air.
Giant Gorge City.
As Shasha and Huo Ran were about to procure ingredients, they looked up to see a 'meteor' streaking across the sky and plummeting down.
Bang!
Shasha brushed away the dust in front of her, revealing a crocodile-like humanoid creature lying on the shattered concrete. He furrowed his brow, contemplating whether he should do something when the sound of engines roaring overhead caught his attention.
Three Gluttonous Soldiers clad in Black Armor descended from a massive flying vehicle, surveying the Crocodile Man below from above.
"Am I alive? What on earth is happening?" Unable to resist examining his own body, the Crocodile Man's face lit up with human-like excitement. However, before he could revel in his newfound existence for too long, three large nets came hurtling towards him.
He dodged them one by one, finally focusing on the figures above. Upon seeing the Gluttonous Soldiers, he exclaimed in surprise, "What do you want? What are you planning to do with me?"
The answer came in the form of gunfire raining down from the flying vehicle. This barrage disregarded all other factors, wreaking havoc on the streets and buildings while threatening the lives of curious bystanders.
Alongside the Crocodile Man, panicked pedestrians fled in terror. They initially thought it was part of a movie until they witnessed someone fall into a pool of blood and realized it was all too real.
As they pursued the Crocodile Man, the Gluttonous Soldiers rampaged through everything in sight. When they noticed someone staring intently at them, their first instinct was to eliminate him.
One of the Gluttonous Soldiers redirected his fire towards that individual.
But what he never expected was that those bullets capable of piercing through alloy would be shattered by that person’s single punch?!
With another punch thrown, a loud explosion erupted in the air, dazzling like fireworks.
The two Gluttonous Warriors who had captured Soton quickly turned around. Upon seeing their companion dead, they dove down, unleashing a barrage of firepower that instantly ravaged the street.
However, as the smoke cleared, the attacked individual remained unscathed, and then, with another punch!
Invisible ripples spread out, and before the Gluttonous Soldier in the air could react, his consciousness plunged into darkness.
After two bursts of fireworks, a heavy thud followed as the captured Crocodile Man landed with a look of frustration.
The man approached and waved his hand to shatter the peculiar net, scrutinizing the Crocodile Man. "As your savior, shouldn't you tell me who you are?"
Dazed, the Crocodile Man lifted his head and looked at him in confusion. "I am Soton!"
