Saint Vancasa had long since become a den of ghosts a century ago.
Mephisto had turned this place into a breeding ground for sin through the temptations of demons, igniting endless desires in people that ultimately led to their demise. As a result, these sinful souls were denied forgiveness from the heavens and acceptance in hell, becoming malevolent spirits that did not manifest in the world. The contract of Saint Vancasa was meant to summon the souls of this land.
This contract had been held by the former Evil Spirit Knight, Carter Shray, who betrayed Mephisto and took the contract away, living a life in hiding until the current Evil Spirit Knight, Johnny Blaze, came knocking.
Now, the contract had passed into Johnny Blaze's hands. In order to rescue his girlfriend Roshan, who had been captured by the Heartless Demon, he brought the contract to Saint Vancasa, fueled by his determination to defeat the Heartless Demon.
"Did you bring the contract?" The Heartless Demon casually beckoned as Johnny Blaze approached step by step.
Johnny Blaze raised the contract high. "Where is Roshan? Let me see her."
The Heartless Demon pulled on a rope hanging by the well, revealing Roshan bound and suspended above.
Seeing that Roshan was unharmed, Johnny Blaze let out a sigh of relief.
"Now that you've seen her, what are you hesitating for?" The Heartless Demon said coldly. "Give me the contract, and you can take this human woman with you. It's a trade."
With the contract in hand, Johnny Blaze stepped closer to the Heartless Demon, now just a step away.
The Heartless Demon reached out and snatched the contract, completely captivated by its power.
Seizing this opportunity, Johnny Blaze quickly freed Roshan. At that moment, this couple, having endured so much hardship, finally came together.
Just then, the Heartless Demon laughed maniacally as he unfolded the contract, feeling the vengeful energy within it. Overwhelmed by its immense power, he blurted out an incantation to release the evil spirits. "Spirits of Saint Vancasa, heed my call and unite with me!"
The ground changed color, and chilling winds swept through the area. From within the ruins emerged malevolent spirits with long tails and grotesque faces. They seemed to have found a vessel to inhabit and surged toward the Heartless Demon.
Faced with such a scene, Roshan exclaimed in panic, "We need to go, Johnny Blaze."
Johnny Blaze slowly shook his head. "I can't leave yet. My motorcycle is parked outside. You need to ride it and get away quickly."
"We'll leave together!" Roshan pleaded, grabbing Johnny Blaze as he attempted to rise.
With gritted teeth, Johnny Blaze pushed Roshan away and resolutely walked toward the Heartless Demon.
At that moment, the Vengeful Spirit gathered within the Heartless Demon granted it unprecedented power—endless magical energy and an almost immortal body. However, its consciousness no longer belonged to itself but to a collective.
"My name is Horde of Ghosts! Because of me, there is strength in numbers!"
Through the shadows, the Hellfire-enhanced Shotgun unleashed bullets filled with vengeful flames.
Bang!
The body of Horde of Ghosts was shattered into pieces. Before Johnny Blaze could breathe a sigh of relief, those fragments began to coalesce once more until they regained their original form—this was the immortality of Horde of Ghosts.
Johnny Blaze frowned and transformed into the Evil Spirit Knight from the shadows, charging at Horde of Ghosts. The two clashed fiercely, sparks flying everywhere.
However, the power of Horde of Ghosts was beyond what Johnny Blaze could contend with, and soon he found himself at a disadvantage.
But noticing the evil glint in Horde of Ghosts' eyes, Johnny Blaze identified its greatest weakness.
Just as he was about to strike, a sudden heat surged beneath his feet, causing him to spin uncontrollably.
With a heavy thud, Johnny Blaze looked up to see a slender figure perched atop the ruins of a building.
"I'm sorry, but you can't kill him yet, even though I'm not particularly fond of this guy," the figure said.
"Who are you?" Johnny Blaze asked in a low voice.
"You don't need to know who I am; you just need to know that you can leave here," the newcomer waved a hand dismissively, appearing uninterested in explaining.
"This guy killed my friend, and I won't let him get away with it!"
With that, Johnny Blaze stepped forward again, ready to use Judgment Eye.
The newcomer sighed, "Stubborn!"
In an instant, she leaped into the air, transforming into a streak of flame that surged toward Johnny Blaze.
"Look at me," he shouted as his Judgment Eye was already halfway activated, but he was nearly blown apart by the force of her attack.
Furious, he watched the blazing light darting through the air, as chains ignited with Hellfire swung around in an attempt to capture her.
"Useless; you can't catch me," her laughter echoed through the air.
Just when he felt utterly helpless, a flash of light suddenly shot from a distance and struck the flame directly.
As the newcomer landed, Johnny Blaze focused intently and saw a long sword embedded in her left shoulder.
A figure stepped forward, drawing a long sword and throwing it to the ground, his face dark with anger as he scanned the surroundings. "Who is it? If you have the guts, step out!"
"It was you who called me out."
From the shadows, a figure dressed in black and wearing a mask emerged. With a slight flick of his finger, the long sword trembled and returned to his hand, sliding back into its sheath.
Seeing this attire, the man's expression changed slightly. "How did you end up here? Why are you meddling instead of playing superhero in New York?"
"Superhero? I've never considered myself one," the man in black chuckled lightly before turning to the stunned Johnny Blaze. "What are you waiting for? Get moving!"
Realizing what was happening, Johnny Blaze immediately went after the Horde of Ghosts.
He watched as Johnny Blaze unleashed Judgment Eye on the Horde of Ghosts. The fiery figure was helpless, for she had been locked onto by the man before her!
"King of Hell, you'd better think carefully. Once you choose to stand against me, you'll encounter countless troubles ahead!"
