"Swish."
The Edman Longsword sliced off Kurt Connors' long tail, forcing the Lizard Doctor to underestimate the sharpness of the longsword.
However, as his tail was severed, Kurt Connors suddenly shimmered with a blue light, layers of scales surging to cover his body once more. Shasha frowned; this guy was coating himself with a thick layer of armor.
Let me test the hardness of those scales! With that thought, the longsword thrust forward.
In the next moment, the sword pierced flesh, and Shasha raised an eyebrow—he hadn't completely penetrated?
Kurt Connors grinned wickedly and reached for Shasha with both hands. Shasha withdrew his sword, slashing three times in rapid succession as he retreated, severing one of Kurt Connors' arms into three pieces.
Yet, another wave of movement occurred as the severed arm regenerated. Kurt Connors sneered, "It's useless. No matter how many times you cut me, I can regenerate. I am immortal!"
"Immortal?" Shasha scoffed. "Perhaps there is such a thing as immortality, but it certainly isn't you!"
He thrust his sword again, channeling vibrational energy into it. The slight tremor in the air made Kurt Connors' eyelids twitch; however, the sword was too fast for him to evade. The longsword sank into flesh, and the smug expression on his face instantly froze.
With a splatter, a large amount of blood erupted from Kurt Connors' mouth. He felt an intense pain as if his internal organs were shattering, and his towering body slowly knelt to the ground.
"Your regeneration speed is indeed quick, but your internal organs probably can't regenerate that fast," Shasha said coldly while keeping the longsword embedded in Kurt's body. "If you continue to resist futilely, I will have no choice but to kill you with one strike!"
Kurt Connors lowered his head and groaned in pain, his slit pupils darting rapidly as he thought of an escape plan.
Just as Shasha's patience began to wear thin, an unexpected sense of danger made him withdraw his sword quickly. As he retreated, he saw something resembling a spider web shoot past where he had just stood.
Huo Ran turned around and spotted a familiar figure with blue and red hues crouched against the corner wall of the room.
"Do you know what you're doing?" he asked sharply, laced with irritation.
Peter replied nonchalantly, "I know exactly what I'm doing. This is my prey; please do not interfere."
"Your prey?" Shasha was taken aback before bursting into laughter. Since when did this guy become so arrogant? No, was he eager to prove his strength?
Peter didn't understand why Shasha was laughing; he didn't have time to ponder it either because he had already charged forward, casting webs to completely ensnare Kurt Connors. He then leaped several times with his 'prey' in tow and left the laboratory.
The scene unfolded in an instant, the speed and power beyond comparison.
After a brief moment of shock, Shasha chased after him; only this way would it be interesting!
As they ran and pursued, two figures darted through the night. Even with the heavy body of Kurt Connors in tow, Peter moved gracefully through the buildings with his cheating tools.
However, Shasha was no slouch either. Though slower, he kept close on Peter's heels.
When they reached an open area, Peter landed and set Kurt Connors down just as Shasha arrived.
Seeing that Peter had nowhere to retreat, he suddenly struck out, throwing a punch that sliced through the air toward Shasha.
Bang!
Shasha firmly grasped the incoming heavy fist, feeling the strength gradually increase as they entered a contest of power.
"I haven't offended you, have I? The prey I was hunting has been snatched away by you. Don't you think you should give me some compensation?" Shasha spoke with an air of authority, pretending not to recognize Peter.
Peter remained noncommittal. "You haven't offended me. This is our first meeting after all. I didn't plan to strike, but I can't just stand by and watch you kill him!"
Shasha was taken aback; he hadn't expected this guy to have a hint of compassion.
"Don't you know what he's done?"
Looking down at the unconscious Kurt Connors, Peter nodded slowly. "Of course I know what he's done. But there are laws to deal with him. You can't just take it upon yourself to kill him."
At this point, Shasha fell silent. This guy was surprisingly serious? No, he seemed to have always been this way; very few villains died at his hands—not because he couldn't kill them, but because he chose to let them go.
The only exception was Green Goblin, but that guy had brought about his own demise.
Slowly drawing his sword, Shasha realized that if he didn't act now, the reputation he had worked for might slip away. He never intended to kill Kurt Connors; he merely wanted to drain his benefits and then hand him over to the police. Who would have thought that a wild card would appear halfway through? It was incredibly frustrating.
Watching Shasha draw his sword, Peter stepped back cautiously. Having witnessed their confrontation, he knew how sharp Shasha's sword was; getting too close would put him at a disadvantage. His only option was to keep moving.
Having undergone System training recently, Peter was also eager to test his growth during this time.
The thoughts of the two individuals regarding their confrontation aligned perfectly.
In the next moment, the still air suddenly stirred, and a long sword sliced through the space, its blade sending a wave that cut down a patch of wild grass.
Peter moved with agility, dodging skillfully while occasionally deploying webs to slow down Shasha's assault. At the same time, he keenly observed the patterns and habits in her attacks, searching for any weaknesses.
Before long, Peter's gaze sharpened as he noticed an opening in Shasha's strikes. In that instant, he made his move.
He leaped with remarkable lightness and speed, evading several of Shasha's attacks with swift maneuvers. As he landed, he accelerated rapidly, catching Shasha off guard and delivering a punch to her shoulder, producing a sharp crack.
"Crack!"
Shasha staggered back two steps, a flicker of pain crossing her face. She hadn't expected this guy to become so fast, and his strength had increased significantly as well. Caught off guard, she suffered an unexpected blow.
