Setting aside the matters of the Hand-to-Hand Meeting and the Purity Society, Shasha waited at home for a long time without seeing Erika return. Gradually, he began to feel that something was amiss; it made no sense for Erika to be out so late. Even if she had a difficult mission, she would usually give him a heads-up. The only explanations he could think of were that someone had captured her or that she had willingly gone off with someone.
As he recalled the commotion at home, which seemed to indicate someone was searching for something, Shasha suddenly remembered the organization where Erika had once been involved.
The Hand-to-Hand Meeting was composed of some lunatics and fugitives. This group seemed to practice some sort of secret technique that allowed them to become ashes like vampires upon death, ensuring that their secrets remained hidden.
Aside from the Hand-to-Hand Meeting, Shasha couldn't think of anyone else who might have taken Erika. The thought of her possibly falling into the hands of the Hand-to-Hand Meeting unsettled him deeply. Although he and Erika were not in a romantic relationship, as friends who had shared hardships, how could he stand by while she was in danger?
The Hand-to-Hand Meeting was an assassin organization, and being such, it was no secret within the assassin community.
Shasha asked several colleagues about it. While he didn't gather much information, what he did learn was quite useful.
For instance, the Hand-to-Hand Meeting was looking for a spokesperson who would be responsible for recruiting assassins and negotiating partnerships.
This individual was well-known in the Asian community in New York and went by the name Kenta Sawada.
On the surface, Zetian appeared to be an investment businessman; only those within the circle knew he was actually a criminal entrepreneur.
When Shasha approached him, Zetian was engaged in discussions about investments with a client.
When it was Shasha's turn, he walked in and immediately asked, "Are you interested in doing business with the dead?"
Zetian's expression changed. He closed all the blinds in his office and, after confirming that no one was eavesdropping, gestured for Shasha to sit down and talk slowly. Once they were seated, he casually asked, "Who referred you here?"
Shasha produced a letter of recommendation that he had obtained from a colleague.
Zetian frowned as he took the envelope and glanced at it before saying coolly, "Since you have a recommendation, you should know my rules."
Shasha nodded. "My friend informed me about the rules before I came."
"The target information is provided by you; we will supply the assassination time, location, and method of death you desire," Zetian stated. He paused for a moment before adding with a hint of warning, "You must ensure that the information is accurate; otherwise, you know what happens when you fool the Hand-to-Hand Meeting."
Shasha smiled, "Of course, I'm not that bold."
"Better that way. First, pay half the deposit, and the other half after the job is done," Zetian said in a businesslike manner. It was worth noting that he had never acted this way when dealing with clients before. Unfortunately, despite their similar appearances, they did not grow up in the same country. The relationship between Zhao and Neon had never been harmonious. Moreover, he was a descendant of war criminals from that era.
Shasha was well aware of Zetian's disdain for him. With a smile, he suddenly grabbed Zetian by the neck and slammed him down onto the desk, pinning him there as fear filled Zetian's eyes. Although some noise was made during the struggle, it was not loud enough to attract attention from outside.
"Guess what I'm going to do next?" Shasha asked, looking into Zetian's terrified gaze.
Zetian did not want to know, nor did he wish to find out; he only knew that he had probably encountered a madman.
Forty minutes later, Shasha walked out of the office looking neat and tidy, even taking the time to close the door behind him.
To outsiders, it appeared to be a secret meeting; Zetian's previous intimidation had prevented them from investigating further.
Zetian was not dead but had been turned into a madman; living in such a state was more useful than being dead.
Upon learning about the Hand-to-Hand Meeting's intel, Shasha decided to take action immediately, knowing that Zetian's madness could not be hidden for long.
That night, under the cover of darkness, New York transitioned from its most vibrant phase into silence.
In the shadows, a dozen figures clad in black ninja attire moved swiftly in one direction.
However, halfway through their journey, another dozen figures dressed in red ninja outfits suddenly appeared, and a fierce battle ensued between the two sides.
Such scenes were occurring throughout various districts of New York; strangely enough, the local government seemed unfazed and did not intervene.
At the Purity Society headquarters, several ninjas from the Hand-to-Hand Meeting had already infiltrated the premises, swiftly eliminating the guards at the entrance.
Just as they attempted to enter the main hall, a Red Figure suddenly emerged from the shadows and began to take them down one by one with incredible speed.
But how could there only be so few people at the Hand-to-Hand Meeting? After these few were dealt with, more and more ninjas from the Hand-to-Hand Meeting surged in. The Red Figure found it difficult to fend off the four attackers, and just as it seemed they would be overwhelmed, another figure appeared.
This person was dressed in a tight red suit, with a strong yet well-proportioned physique. Every move they made flowed like water, as if they had eyes on the back of their head, able to anticipate attacks from all directions.
The rescued Red Figure looked at their savior with a complex expression. "I won't thank you."
The rescuer, while fending off attacks, chuckled lightly. "I never needed your thanks."
The two fought side by side, quickly driving back the invading enemies, their silhouettes illuminated by the flickering torchlight.
One of them was indeed Erika, whom Shasha thought had fallen into the hands of the Hand-to-Hand Meeting. And the figure beside her was someone who might already be recognized by many.
Indeed, it was Daredevil, known as Matt Murdock!
