Humanity's erroneous perceptions and superficial preferences led them to overlook the deeper dangers. After the Mass Extermination, the leaders believed that the threat had vanished. The vibrant nightlife returned, and the streets buzzed with activity once more.
Little did they know, such tranquility only heightened Matt's anxiety as he remained unable to detach himself from the situation. He desperately wanted Xiao Qiang to wake up. Unable to contain himself, he blurted out, "Chu Xiong, Ph.D., do you think the world is at peace?"
Chu Xiong smiled faintly and replied, "If the trees wish for calm but the winds do not cease, then let the storm come even stronger!"
"The Mass Extermination merely suppressed some restless Bloodthirsty Creatures; it did not annihilate them. Now, as these Bloodthirsty Creatures cling to life, they are beginning new schemes while humanity relaxes. You just mentioned that the future is concerning..."
Chu Xiong recognized Matt's urgency to awaken Xiao Qiang. He patted Matt's shoulder and calmly smiled, "Don't be anxious; let Charlie handle everything. You two can talk with me."
Wu Yi had been focused on any movement from Xiao Qiang. Through the Magic Cube Three-Dimensional Wall partition, he saw Charlie busy inside. Several times he almost spoke up to check on him but found that Charlie seemed to deliberately avoid him; otherwise, they wouldn't be sitting here discussing trivial matters.
Noticing Wu Yi's distraction and Matt's heavy thoughts, Chu Xiong smiled broadly and said, "Don't rush; haste makes waste."
Seeing Chu Xiong's confident demeanor, Matt decided not to press further. "Then continue with your Biology topic." He nudged Wu Yi with his elbow and added, "You should catch up on the Biological Evolution Topic."
Wu Yi scoffed, "I'm just a brute; can I eat that stuff?"
Matt stifled a laugh. Looking at Chu Xiong, it seemed he hadn’t heard them.
"Are we alone in the universe?" Chu Xiong appeared to be pondering this question aloud, capturing everyone's attention in the room. Did this question even need an answer? The Cosmic War had already made everything clear.
Chu Xiong continued, "In most Alien Systems, there exist certain unknown life forms to varying degrees. These beings evolve and upgrade over time, and of course, death is an inevitable part of evolution."
Wu Yi scratched his head and blurted out something nonsensical: "There’s always one thing in the universe that lacks living matter."
Matt and Chu Xiong exchanged glances and asked in unison, "What is it?" In their understanding, everything in the universe possesses life and significance.
Wu Yi smirked and said, "A rock!"
Matt waved his hand, "Let me explain." Chu Xiong nodded, while Wu Yi felt speechless, secretly cursing: What could these two old scholars possibly say to explain the origin of a rock?
Matt continued, "Over the years, the organic materials in these biological remains have decomposed completely. The hard parts, such as shells, bones, and leaves, have turned into stone through fossilization along with the surrounding sediments. Therefore, most biological fossils are transformed from the remains of living organisms, which means that rocks possess a form of life."
Chu Xiong gave a thumbs up and said, "Well said." He then added, "Although organisms are constantly evolving, many very simple and primitive life forms did not go extinct during the evolutionary process. There are ten recorded miracles in biological evolution. Over a long period of time, life on Earth evolved from microscopic single-celled organisms to multicellular algae, fungi, plants, animals, and even humans, experiencing one significant breakthrough after another."
"I've learned something new today," Wu Yi interjected. However, Chu Xiong was not annoyed; instead, he looked toward the cube-shaped wall. The wall slowly opened, revealing Xiao Qiang and Charlie stepping out.
Xiao Qiang's recent slumber seemed somewhat unusual. To Matt, it appeared as if someone had spent too long in a mechanical work environment; their entire state had become dazed and monotonous—a normal phenomenon, perhaps!
Seeing Matt and Wu Yi made Xiao Qiang extremely excited. Remembering Li Hang and the situation with the Li Family, he refrained from mentioning it in front of Chu Xiong. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Chu Xiong decisively stood up and said to them, "Alright, follow me."
Of course, Xiao Qiang was unaware of the true reason behind the troubles facing the Li Family that were connected to him.
Chu Xiong led them to a secure storage room. Strangely enough, while other areas were heavily guarded, this particular building had no guards at all.
"I prefer silence; hence this place doesn't need soldiers to guard it," Chu Xiong noted as he sensed their skepticism. The alert Xiao Qiang replied, "You've been in battle; I trust your understanding of weapons is profound."
Xiao Qiang responded off-topic, "I'm really hungry." Wu Yi and Matt exchanged amused glances and tried to hint at him. Chu Xiong waved his hand for Charlie to fetch some food.
Chu Xiong then led them into a large hall. The entire layout and structure of the hall were simple and tidy. While those details were not important, what mattered was that he took them into the basement.
The basement!!! Wu Yi's eyes lit up in amazement. It looked just like a small arms depot from 2030.
Chu Xiong crossed his arms and coldly observed Xiao Qiang and Wu Yi's admiration for the weapons. He casually walked over, picked up an MK23 pistol, and said to the former, "Can you tell me the details about these weapons?"
Xiao Qiang glanced at the firearm in his hand and smiled lightly. "MK23 pistol, PSG-1 sniper rifle, Type 56 military dagger. The AKM has significant recoil, making it hard to control, and it’s also quite loud." He then picked up an M16 rifle, shaking his head as he continued, "These should be in an antique shop by now; this type of firearm has severe chamber fouling issues and a high jam rate."
Chu Xiong smiled approvingly, encouraging Xiao Qiang to elaborate on the performance of these antique firearms.
Under Wu Yi's astonished gaze, Xiao Qiang picked up a Beretta 92FS pistol, his eyes shifting to the HK33/SG1 rifle and the SIG SG550 assault rifle. "This set of firearms should also include a 551 series. They typically use 20 or 30-round magazines; they’re slightly larger and are generally Swiss military assault rifles with semi-automatic sniper rifle modifications."
"If I asked you to make use of these firearms, could you accomplish the mission?"
Chu Xiong's unique guiding approach genuinely impressed Matt and Wu Yi. They had previously thought he was indifferent to the nation's peril, but it seemed he was already prepared for action.
Xiao Qiang did not directly answer Chu Xiong's question but scanned the remaining firearms. He was ultimately drawn to the Steyr AUG Bullpup Assault Rifle, specifically the modified desert-colored AUG-A1 with a standard 30-round magazine and a 40-round light machine gun.
Chu Xiong smiled and nodded. "Not bad; do you like it?" Xiao Qiang nodded in response. The former continued explaining, "Our male soldiers also like it; they call it the 'Rubik's Cube Rifle.'"
