Hearing this, I anxiously said to Void Spirit, "Don't rush to kill her! We still don't know the whereabouts of Hu Fang and Death Apostle!"
Void Spirit replied, "No need for that. Your friend is in that room; it seems she has knocked him out and he can't speak. Don't worry, they are still alive."
Without hesitation, Void Spirit dashed toward the woman, kicking up a cloud of dust behind him. At that moment, I felt the power within Jiang Ling no longer surging wildly; it was as if it had been completely controlled by Void Spirit, utterly obedient to him.
The woman across from us was momentarily stunned but quickly leaned to the side, trying to evade Void Spirit's attack. However, Void Spirit had already anticipated her movements.
Just as he was about to pass by her, Void Spirit controlled my arm, raised Jiang Ling, and without hesitation struck with the sword.
As the blade flashed by, the woman failed to dodge in time and had her arm severed by Jiang Ling. She let out a piercing scream, clearly in immense pain.
Void Spirit showed no sign of mercy; he swiftly adjusted his stance and aimed at the woman who was clutching her severed arm and wailing in agony. He unleashed several quick strikes.
With the sound of blades slicing through the air, the woman was instantly cut into multiple pieces, her body crashing to the ground in a flurry.
Seeing this, Void Spirit stood still and looked at the pile of remains on the ground. "Not even human..."
Following his gaze, I noticed that the heap of remains left no trace of blood, resembling a collection of clay doll fragments.
"Forget about her! Quickly go find Death Apostle and Hu Fang! Don't you know where they are?!" I urged anxiously.
Void Spirit replied softly, "That's your concern now; it has nothing to do with me. You go find them yourself; they are in that room."
After saying this, I felt Void Spirit gradually suppressing the power within me, intending to return control of my body. Just then, a soft voice echoed through the air again: "Did you really think I would die so easily?"
Upon hearing this, Void Spirit quickly halted his suppression of my power and unleashed it once more. He infused part of his strength into Jiang Ling, causing its blade to emit a soft glow of black and white light.
"Oh? You're not dead yet?" Void Spirit responded mockingly while controlling my body to assume an attacking stance once again.
At that moment, I noticed that Void Spirit suddenly began to dash towards the steel machinery beside us. Before I could even question him, he lifted Jiang Ling and unleashed a flurry of slashes. In the blink of an eye, the massive steel apparatus was reduced to fragments by Void Spirit, crashing to the ground and kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Hey, Void Spirit, what's wrong?!" I asked.
Void Spirit paused for a moment upon hearing my voice and replied, "What do you mean, I..." He looked at Jiang Ling in his hand, then at the pile of wreckage before him. I sensed that Void Spirit was starting to feel a bit uneasy.
Just then, a seductive voice echoed from behind us: "I'm right here~" Before Void Spirit could react, a fierce wind swept past us, as if countless sharp blades were carving bloody gashes across my back. Although I felt no pain, Void Spirit seemed to be in great distress. Yet he gritted his teeth against the agony and gathered his strength to unleash a powerful slash.
The force behind this strike was overwhelming. A massive black-and-white arc-shaped Slash Mark emerged, instantly cleaving through several nearby houses, which collapsed with a thunderous roar.
After the attack, Void Spirit's knee buckled from the pain, and he sank to one knee on the ground. Breathing heavily, he said, "Now I finally understand why you acted that way earlier. Illusions... that woman can use illusions..." As he spoke, blood trickled from my mouth and dripped onto the ground, seeping into the soil.
"I'm sorry, Shen Xu, for hurting your body like this..." Void Spirit gasped.
"This isn't the time for apologies. If it were just me, I would have been killed by now. But we can't keep going like this; we need to come up with a countermeasure..." Mid-sentence, I suddenly had an epiphany and fell silent.
Void Spirit looked puzzled and asked, "Did you think of something?"
"Maybe yes, maybe no..." I continued to ponder in my mind. Just then, the woman reappeared before us. She was not unscathed; her arm that Void Spirit had severed was still missing.
"How could this happen... Did I misjudge?" I kept replaying thoughts in my mind.
Meanwhile, Void Spirit caught his breath and slowly stood up. He wiped the blood from his mouth and said to me, "You come up with a plan; I'll do my best to handle her..."
With that, Void Spirit prepared for another confrontation. He took a deep breath and positioned Jiang Ling in front of him once more.
Despite losing an arm, Mei maintained her alluring posture: "I don't know why your attacks have become more ferocious, but you still can't defeat me. After all, your true enemy is not me; it's yourself."
"Enough talk! I'm the one who will take your head!" With that declaration, Void Spirit swung Jiang Ling fiercely upward, sending a Slash Mark flying toward the woman.
At that moment, the woman quickly leaped to the side, trying to evade the attack from Void Spirit. Seeing this, Void Spirit swiftly unleashed a Slash Mark in the direction she was dodging.
However, the woman was incredibly agile; not only did she avoid Void Spirit's attack, but she also moved toward my position while evading.
"I... I understand!" I said simultaneously with Void Spirit. It seemed that Void Spirit's earlier attack was not meant to kill her but rather to test her method of attack.
Through these two probing Slash Marks, both Void Spirit and I discerned her tactics.
It turned out that when she approached earlier, I felt my consciousness gradually becoming hazy, and even Void Spirit was confused after the close-range attack. This was due to her ability to influence our souls within a certain distance using her specific powers. Thus, while Void Spirit's first attack successfully severed her arm, the second was misled to another location due to this influence.
One thing was certain: her ability could only affect the soul controlling the body at that moment and could not impact the deeper, hidden soul within.
Realizing this, both Void Spirit and I understood her intentions. At this moment, Void Spirit raised the corner of his mouth again, revealing a confident smile...
