At that critical moment, a voice came from ahead, "Don't just stand there, run!" It was Yao Long, his tone urgent and tense, pulling me back from my daze.
Without a second thought, I gritted my teeth against the pain in my waist, reached out to grab the steel rebar extending in front of me, and with all my strength, I ran forward while pulling myself along.
Seeing me start to flee, Yao Long didn't hesitate any longer and took off running as well.
As I hurried along, my clothes snagged on the protruding rebar, tearing them into strips. I couldn't afford to worry about that now; the collapse behind me was getting closer. If I hesitated for even a moment longer, even if I summoned the Void Spirit now, its current power wouldn't be enough to save me from being crushed.
With that thought in mind, I continued to run for my life. The sound of heavy stones crashing down echoed behind me, raising clouds of dust that made me cough uncontrollably. The world around me became increasingly blurred due to the dust, and I struggled to see the rebar ahead of me, nearly colliding with it several times.
The falling debris was closing in fast; I could feel small rocks pelting my back. Just as I was about to be buried under the rubble of this collapsing cave, something suddenly tripped me up. My body lurched forward, and panic gripped my heart. I thought to myself that this was it; if I fell now, I'd surely be buried in this heap of ruins.
Desperate to maintain my balance, I found it impossible to control my body due to the momentum. Just as I was about to hit the ground, a hand shot out from the swirling dust in front of me and grabbed my collar. With a sudden pull, I was yanked back.
Gasping for breath on the ground, I looked up at Yao Long standing beside me. Seeing that I was unharmed, he let out a sigh of relief. "That was close."
I glanced around and realized that where I had almost fallen was just a hair's breadth from the cave entrance. If Yao Long hadn't spotted me in time and pulled me back, I would have been done for.
"Thank you," I said to Yao Long as I got up and brushed off the dust from my clothes. Instinctively, I asked, "Where are we...?" Looking around, all I could see was darkness. My phone belonging to Hu Fang lay at my feet.
The phone's flashlight emitted a beam of white light that illuminated both Yao Long and me; however, the dust still obscured our view of our surroundings.
I bent down to pick up the phone when Yao Long said, "This seems like some kind of underground warehouse. There are Vengeful Spirits everywhere; the Grievance here is heavy..." He turned his back to me and raised his Azure Spirit cautiously, peering into the darkness ahead.
Seeing this, I waved my hand in front of me to disperse some of the smoke and used the phone's light to survey our surroundings. After a moment of scanning, I exclaimed in surprise, "This isn't...!"
"Have you been here before?" Yao Long asked.
"I came here with Li Zhisheng. The last time we entered the amusement park, Li Zhisheng and I were captured..." I glanced around the polygonal structure of the spacious hall, feeling a chill run down my spine.
However, after surveying the area, I found no trace of Hu Fang, which made me even more anxious. "Yao Long, can you hear any sounds around us? Can you find Hu Fang?"
Yao Long held his breath and listened intently for a moment before shaking his head. "No, there are too many Wandering Spirits and Wild Ghosts here, and the Grievance is too heavy. It's hard to perceive anything..."
In the middle of his sentence, Yao Long suddenly tensed up. He stopped speaking, and even his breathing became extremely faint. "Did you sense something?" I asked anxiously.
Yao Long didn’t respond but called out into the darkness ahead, "Come out; I know you're there. Don't hide."
As he spoke, I looked forward and saw a sudden flash of red and green light in the distance. In the darkness, I could vaguely make out what seemed to be a person standing far away.
"Long time no see, Old Friend..." The voice sounded somewhat familiar yet strange at the same time; I couldn't quite place who it was.
But Yao Long confidently said, "Fan Wu, you're still the same, always playing your petty tricks. What surprises me more is that you're still alive."
"Oh? Is that so? But I'm even more surprised that you and the Death Apostle are still alive. You've hidden well..." Fan Wu said with a sneer.
Upon hearing this, I thought to myself: could it be that the person named Haoyang took the Death Apostle away because he discovered that Yang Master’s people knew about the Death Apostle's survival and hid him?
As these thoughts raced through my mind, my concern for the Death Apostle grew stronger. However, what troubled me even more was the whereabouts of Li Zhisheng and Hu Fang. Where were they? Were they safe? After all, compared to the Death Apostle, it was almost certain that they had been captured by Yang Master’s people.
"Where have you taken my two friends?" Before Yao Long could speak, I shouted angrily.
"Are you talking about them?" Fan Wu sneered, lightly clapping his hands. As he did, the surroundings suddenly lit up, revealing Li Zhisheng and Hu Fang, who had been knocked unconscious and were being held tightly by several individuals who looked like his subordinates. Fan Wu stood among them.
"Let them go!" Yao Long roared.
"Let them go? What right do you, a traitor, have to demand anything from me?" Fan Wu retorted. Suddenly, he became fierce, conjuring a ball of red and green energy in his hand and hurling it towards us while shouting, "You used a fake Nine Star Diagram to ruin me before; I haven't settled the score with you yet, and now you still have the nerve to ask me to release them?!"
Hearing this, I focused my gaze and saw that Fan Wu's face had completely lost its human form. His features were twisted into a grotesque mask, looking extremely ferocious and terrifying. Moreover, his hands had become uneven—one thick and one thin—creating a stark imbalance.
At that moment, Yao Long saw Fan Wu throw a ball formed from Void Spirit energy. Calmly, he raised his Azure Spirit, drew back the bowstring, and instantly condensed blood into an arrow before releasing it with great force.
With a loud bang, the ball thrown by Fan Wu was pierced by Yao Long's arrow and exploded in mid-air...
