Han Shuang was instantly enraged and shouted, "My lady is speaking to you. Are you deaf? Lady Jiang is already betrothed to my lord, and her command is the Regent's command."
The Guard Captain's face changed dramatically upon hearing this. He stole a glance at Jiang Xi and thought to himself, this is the Lady Jiang who has been the talk of the capital, the favored one of the Regent. She is not someone to be trifled with. He quickly lowered his head in fear and apologized, saying, "I did not recognize your greatness, please forgive me, Lady Jiang. Allow me to inform my lord immediately."
Seeing the Guard Captain's demeanor, Huai'an Princess felt a sense of satisfaction and added, "You tell King Qin that Master Wenxin is under my protection. No one is allowed to harm a single hair on him; otherwise, I will report it to the Emperor and let him take care of it."
The Guard Captain nodded repeatedly, saying, "Yes, yes, I will convey your words truthfully to my lord."
Just as the Guard Captain was about to turn and enter, Jiang Xi called out to Han Shuang, saying, "Let her come along."
The Guard Captain looked surprised and asked, "Lady Jiang, what do you mean?"
Jiang Xi glanced at the tightly packed room and replied calmly, "Don't worry; he won't offend your lord. As Little Princess just said, Master Wenxin is her chosen one. I also do not wish for anyone to harm him in any way; otherwise, don't blame me for informing the Regent and letting him handle it."
The Guard Captain immediately fell silent, feeling he had no choice but to comply.
A threat to report to the Emperor left him with no courage to resist; a careless move could cost him his head. With the Regent backing them up, he dared not offend them lightly.
Han Shuang stood silently behind the Guard Captain. As he opened the door to enter, she saw Master Wenxin being forcibly held down on his knees by two guards.
"By order of our master, you are not allowed to harm Master Wenxin!"
Seeing this, Han Shuang moved like lightning. Before the Guard Captain could say anything, she dashed forward and swiftly dealt with the two guards.
With two loud crashes, one guard slammed against the wall and collapsed, blood spewing from his mouth as he fainted; the other crashed onto King Qin's table, shattering it into pieces.
The sudden turn of events caused King Qin's expression to change drastically. Startled, he stood up and shouted, "Who are you?"
The guard of King Qin froze for a moment before reacting, quickly stepping in front of King Qin and watching Han Shuang warily.
King Qin turned to the Guard Captain and demanded, "What is going on?"
The Guard Captain trembled as he reported, "The Little Princess from Princess Chang's Residence and Lady Jiang wish to see Master Wenxin. No one is allowed to harm Master Wenxin in any way, or we will have to report this to the Emperor and the Regent."
King Qin's face flushed with anger as he shouted, "Preposterous!"
The Guard Captain, frightened, quickly knelt down and pleaded, "Your Highness, please calm your anger!"
King Qin coldly stared at Han Shuang, who met his gaze with an expressionless look. The two glared at each other.
Wenxin, who had been left aside, slowly rose and casually asked, "Which Lady Jiang wishes to see me?"
Han Shuang then turned her head and coldly glanced at Wenxin, saying, "The young lady from the Prime Minister's Residence."
Upon hearing this, Wenxin paused in his gesture of brushing his sleeves and looked up at Han Shuang as if confirming. Han Shuang nodded and said, "Indeed."
Wenxin felt a slight surprise, a ripple stirring within him. Without saying anything further, he turned and walked outside.
Seeing the beauty about to leave, King Qin shouted angrily at Wenxin's retreating figure, "What are you all standing there for? Capture him!"
At that moment, Wenxin's thoughts were entirely with Jiang Xi; he was not worried about King Qin's guards at all as he continued walking out.
As King Qin's guards charged forward, Han Shuang stepped in to block their attack and scolded, "Get out of the way!"
King Qin's personal guard was highly skilled, and Han Shuang remained unfazed as he engaged them in a one-on-two battle. Each strike was fierce, and the gusts of wind from their palms even caused King Qin to retreat, trying to avoid the impact.
Wenxin successfully exited the room and saw Jiang Xi and Huai'an Princess standing outside.
His gaze fell directly on Jiang Xi's delicate and serene face, leaving him momentarily stunned upon their first meeting.
Noticing him come out, Jiang Xi smiled faintly and asked with concern, "Master Wenxin, are you alright?"
Wenxin snapped back to reality, a charming smile spreading across his handsome face as he replied, "I'm fine, but I sincerely apologize for disturbing Lady Jiang and Little Princess today. If you don't mind, I would be happy to sing a song for both of you."
Huai'an Princess was taken aback and exclaimed, "Master Wenxin actually volunteered to sing for us alone? That's rarer than the sun rising from the west!"
Jiang Xi responded with a gentle smile, "Alright, I've reserved a private room on the second floor for today. Please follow me."
Jiang Xi gestured gracefully and said, "Ladies first, Little Princess and Lady Jiang."
As they made their way back upstairs, they ran into Jiang Yue.
Jiang Xi maintained a neutral expression, while Jiang Yue appeared somewhat flustered.
Jiang Xi cast a casual glance at her and deliberately remarked, "Oh, so you're here too," before walking straight inside.
Jiang Yue wanted to showcase their sisterly bond and quickly called out to Jiang Xi, "Eldest Sister!"
However, Jiang Xi coldly interrupted her, "You don't need to explain your whereabouts to me; I'm not interested in your affairs."
Jiang Yue stood frozen in place, feeling like she was invisible to those around her. The embarrassment of being deliberately ignored was unbearable, and suddenly, a cold smile crept onto her face.
She thought to herself, "Jiang Xi, your arrogance will only last for a moment. Today, I will make sure you are utterly disgraced in this Qingyin Pavilion."
Approaching King Qin's door, she glanced at the two fierce-looking guards and softly spoke, "Could you please inform the king? I have something important to discuss with him."
As soon as she finished speaking, a figure suddenly flashed past her. With a loud crash, Jiang Yue jumped in surprise and turned to see a man being kicked out from inside. He looked severely injured, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth as he lay on the ground, unable to get up.
The unexpected scene startled Jiang Yue. Han Shuang followed closely behind, exuding an icy and imposing aura that made the guards instinctively step aside.
Ignoring everyone else, Han Shuang walked expressionlessly toward the stairs.
Jiang Yue felt even more resentment; even the maidservants were ignoring her. She raised her voice and asked, "Who are you?"
King Qin emerged from the room with a dark expression. Upon seeing the unfamiliar woman at the door, his tone softened slightly as he asked, "What brings you here?"
Jiang Yue lowered her head, deliberately exposing a delicate and fair neck as she replied, "This humble girl pays her respects to the prince. I have something important to tell you, but I fear there may be ears on the other side of the wall."
King Qin's gaze lingered on Jiang Yue's pale neck for a while before he turned back into the room.
"Come in and speak," he said. Without a word, Jiang Yue followed him inside.
