The streets at night were eerily quiet, the dim yellow streetlights casting mottled shadows as if hiding countless secrets. I had just shaken off the man who had been stalking me, my heart racing wildly in my chest, my legs feeling as heavy as lead, yet I dared not stop, desperately running forward. 0

Just when I was about to lose hope, a taxi slowly pulled up beside me. The driver rolled down the window, revealing a concerned face. "Miss, get in quickly! That bad man is chasing you!" Without a second thought, I yanked open the door and jumped inside, gasping for breath, relieved to have escaped a close call. 0

The car started moving smoothly ahead. It was only then that I began to collect myself and gratefully said to the driver, "Thank you so much! I really don't know what I would have done without you." The driver merely nodded slightly, glancing at me through the rearview mirror. However, his gaze sent an inexplicable chill down my spine; it felt oddly unsettling, but I dismissed it as a lingering fear from my recent ordeal. 0

As the car continued down an increasingly unfamiliar path, I furrowed my brow and asked, "Driver, where are we headed? This doesn't seem like the direction I need to go." After a moment of silence, he replied in a low, gravelly voice, "This road is shorter; it will get you to safety faster." His explanation did little to ease my unease. I pulled out my phone to check the map but found there was no signal. A wave of anxiety washed over me. 0

Suddenly, the taxi slammed to a halt. My body lurched forward, nearly colliding with the front seat. Before I could ask what was happening, the driver turned his head. In the dim light, his face seemed shrouded in shadows as he twisted his lips into a strange smile. "We've arrived; get out." Looking outside, all I saw was darkness surrounding an abandoned building looming nearby—definitely not a safe place. 0

"Driver, you must be mistaken; this isn't where I'm supposed to be. I'm not home yet," I said with a quivering voice. The driver's expression shifted abruptly; he glared at me fiercely. "Stop talking back! Get out of the car!" Terrified, I clutched the door handle tightly and refused to budge. 0

At that moment, he pulled out a gleaming knife from beneath his seat and waved it menacingly at me. "You think you can escape after getting into my car?" My eyes widened in horror as fear engulfed me like a tidal wave; my mind went blank and instinctively screamed while kicking at the door in a desperate attempt to flee this terrifying vehicle. 0

The driver laughed maliciously as he advanced toward me. Just as the cold blade was about to touch me, an unexpected surge of strength coursed through me. I kicked open the opposite door and tumbled out, scrambling away into the darkness. Behind me came the driver's furious curses and footsteps chasing after me. Not daring to look back, I ran with all my might until I found myself on a main road bustling with vehicles and pedestrians. The terrifying driver had not followed. 0

I collapsed on the roadside, panting heavily and glancing back toward where I had escaped from. That taxi felt like a demon emerging from a dark abyss, and somehow I had narrowly evaded its grasp. Yet everything that transpired that night would become an indelible nightmare in my mind—a haunting mystery of who that driver was and why he targeted me lingered ominously in my thoughts. 0

Suddenly, a ringing sound jolted me awake; it turned out I had been having a terrifying dream... 0
