At the beach bonfire party, several pairs of guests sat together, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Chen Xing shared her struggles before becoming famous, including neglected dinners, a Chinese New Year spent away from home, and the time when her bank account had only one million left. Fortunately, Zhao Yu was there to help her through those tough times.
In the comments, some expressed sympathy while others praised their love story. The camera turned to me, and I sincerely asked, "Is one million really that little?"
Chen Xing's expression froze. The comments paused for two seconds before continuing to scroll.
"Oh my God, I've never seen a million in my life."
"Lin Yue’s comment made me realize—what was I even sympathizing with?"
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward, and Li Zexuan seized the moment to change the subject. "Yueyue and I once set up a stall at a night market."
Yuning, sitting across from him, widened her eyes in surprise. "Really?!"
"Really." He poked at the fire with a stick, and in the flickering light, his sharply defined features softened a bit. "We had just graduated and needed money for many things; our salaries weren't enough. So we went to the night market at night to set up two stalls selling hand-painted T-shirts and oden."
"Once, to avoid the city management officers, Yueyue pushed the cart and ran. Hot soup spilled everywhere and burned her hands red."
Everyone's gaze shifted toward me. I hid my face behind a beer can and casually said, "Actually, it wasn't that bad. When there were no customers, I snuck in a lot of radishes and lucky bags."
Some questioned in the comments.
"Look at Lin Yue; she seems too delicate to endure hardship."
"This feels scripted; why do I get the impression that Li Zexuan is trying to build her character?"
After two hours of conversation, everyone had indeed become more familiar with each other. The next day during recording, the atmosphere felt much more natural.
Li Zexuan skillfully prepared breakfast and called me to wake up. As I went downstairs, I passed by the scale and couldn't resist stepping on it. To my shock, I had gained four pounds! It felt like a bolt from the blue as I recalled everything I had eaten over the past three days, suspecting it was the ice cream cone from yesterday morning that did it.
Li Zexuan came to call me again: "The noodles and fried eggs are getting cold."
"I'm not eating anymore."
I was filled with worry.
Chen Xing urged me, "You should eat something, Yueyue. Zexuan got up early to make this for you. Besides, you're not filming, so why be so sensitive about your weight?"
I glanced at the few leaves of lettuce on her plate. "If you're not sensitive, why are you only eating lettuce?"
The comments flooded in with praise for her.
"Ahhh, Sister Chen is truly beautiful and kind-hearted, opposing body anxiety—she's a role model for contemporary women."
"Chen Xing is giving her good advice; what's with that attitude?"
"Hehe, I knew it—if she's not being difficult, she's not Lin Yue."
Li Zexuan handed me a glass of milk. "Just eat. You haven't gained weight; it's the scale that's off."
I looked at him skeptically. "Really?"
"Really. I weighed myself this morning and found I'm six pounds heavier than at home."
Li Zexuan never lies.
After his words sank in, I did some mental calculations and realized I had actually lost two pounds.
Instantly overjoyed, I began to eat heartily. Not only did I finish my portion, but I also stole half of a fried egg from Li Zexuan's bowl.
He offered me the remaining half as well. "Eat more; you've lost weight from hunger. We have a busy schedule today."
The comments were buzzing:
"No way... The cameras were rolling all morning; who saw Li Zexuan weigh himself?"
"He'll say anything to cheer up his wife."
"Scale: Is anyone speaking up for me?"
After breakfast, we all tidied up and set off for the amusement park.
The production team had arranged soft tasks where the rides would earn points based on their thrill levels. The couple with the most points would receive a mysterious surprise.
Listening to the screams coming from the drop tower made my legs feel weak with fear.
Turning around, I saw Yuning looking eager. "Yueyue, let's go together!"
"No..."
Li Zexuan held my hand and turned to the director, asking, "Do both of us have to go up at the same time?"
"Yes."
He looked a bit helpless and turned back to me, saying, "Sorry, I thought I could just go up twice by myself."
The comments started mocking me again.
"Come on, it's just a drop tower ride, not an actual jump. Is it really that scary?"
This time, someone surprisingly defended me.
"Some people are just naturally scared of things like this; it's not a big deal."
Yuning had already rushed towards the drop tower with her husband, while Chen Xing and Zhao Yu joined the queue for the haunted house.
I clung to Li Zexuan's arm, hesitating for a long time before finally choosing a flower bud ride.
It was similar to a mini drop tower, but the height was kept low and the descent speed was slow.
It read: "Suitable for children aged 6-14."
A string of "hahaha" comments floated by.
I uncertainly shuffled my feet on the ground, asking, "Is this... okay?"
Li Zexuan smiled slightly, "This one."
He was tall with long legs, making him look quite out of place sitting in the flower bud designed for kids.
Just before the ride started, I suddenly stood up, flipped over, and jumped out of the flower bud, quickly running towards the railing and leaping over it.
As soon as I steadied myself, the flower platform began to spin.
Accompanied by cheerful children's songs, the pink flower bud bobbed up and down with an expressionless Li Zexuan sitting in the middle.
I held onto the railing, my voice trembling as I said, "I'm still scared..."
The comments went wild.
"Scared of a children's ride? Is this acting?"
"I don't know why, but at this point, I actually feel like she's genuinely scared..."
"No way! That series of escape moves was too natural and smooth; it's like she practiced dodging city management officials."
